FAIRTAX RALLY IS TOMORROW

Just a bit of news from the weekend.  First, this rally most certainly is on the candidates radar screen.  No names, but I was talking with some of the principals over the weekend, and there is at least one candidate who is interested enough that he is exploring the possibility of making an appearance at the rally

The one thing that counts tomorrow is numbers.  If the Carolina arena is filled --- if FairTax supporters actually step up and take the trouble to get to Columbia and attend the rally --- the FairTax will become a solid part of this campaign.  If the crowd is small, the candidates have all the excuses they need to ignore the movement.

I've received some questions .. and NO, you don't have to RSVP to attend the rally.  The RSVP system is just to help us figure out how many people might be there.  The problem I have is that some people may just click on the RSVP button and think they've done enough. It's attendance that counts, not those who promise to attend.  So ... be assured that you can attend the rally, even if you haven't sent in an RSVP.

We'll make the final push for a crowd tomorrow morning.  Maybe some of you will just wait until the last minute and then say "What the hell, let's hit the road!"

You could be a part -- an essential part -- of a real change in the direction of this country.

GARBAGE ... ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE

Tonight on television, a new reality show.  A date between Joey Buttafuoco and Amy Fisher.  Yup, you hear me right.  They're going a reunion dinner date between this insipid creep and his former teen squeeze.   Amy, according to the rumors, has split from her husband and has been pinging Joey.  Joey actually thinks that they might get together again ... or so he says.  Probably just hype for the show.

And who was it that called television a vast wasteland?

DO EUROPEANS HATE AMERICANS?  PERHAPS -- UNTIL THEY NEED OUR MILITARY AGAIN

The Washington Post printed an editorial yesterday stating four myths of American-hating Europeans. As you might expect, I have a thing or two to say about their findings.

1. The French hate us.

The Washington Post says this is a myth? Though the recent French elections seem to point French diplomats in the right direction, there will still be two tiny factors that will always draw the line between the French and Americans-history and power. Rocky relations with France pre-date the Treat of Versailles and our approach towards foreign affairs is on the complete opposite spectrum of appeasement-loving Frenchmen. But besides that, there is an attitude (much similar to in the US, which is justified) claiming to be the best country in the world. However, the French do not have the power geopolitically, monetarily and economically to back that up, and quite frankly, they will always be jealous.  Perhaps if the French had actually succeeded in defending themselves against two German onslaughts we might be a bit more impressed.  Anyway ... our grandchildren will know France as a Muslim nation.  You just think they hate us now.

2. Europeans look down on the American way of life.

When it comes to this myth, I think it is a double-edged sword. Europeans are eager to soak up our re-runs of Baywatch and Britney Spears concerts, but in the end they are resentful that they can't produce such crap themselves. The exportation of any culture is always met warmly when convenient and hated when it seems to take away from cultural authenticity. Oh and not to mention that European students are coming in droves to study at American Universities. They must want something that they don't have back home!  Sure, Americans go to be educated at Oxford.  Look where they end up.

3. "Old Europe" no longer matters because China and India are the future.

The bonds between Europeans and Americans have created a long, rooted history of economic support and reliance. Not that the United States should ignore other markets, but "Old Europe" is by no means dead geopolitically.  I'll temper this remark with a reminder that Europe is awash with Muslims.  These Muslims were brought in to supply cheap labor to support the European social welfare state.  The Muslims must be a randy bunch, for they're out-producing native Europeans by a wide margin.  That's why I say that our grandchildren will know France as a Muslim nation.  Spain is leading the race.  You do know, don't you, that in some European countries school teachers won't even teach children about the Holocaust.  They're afraid it might offend Muslims.

4. Europe loves only Democrats.

Well it is hard to deny the trend of appeasement, fostered by a socialist under-culture of society. The fact of the matter is, I think that the average European hates George W. Bush and automatically associates him with everything the Republican party stands for. But on the whole, I think that the people of Europe are skeptical of any party in the US. However, this street-level discontent is often not reflected by political leaders-look at Germany, Czech Republic, and now France. This myth seems to be pointing to the wrong problem, and that is that there is a disconnect between the people and the policies of European diplomats. Any policy that trends toward a free-market society or lack of government interference is labeled as "pro-American." Fine. But the people whine and complain about American foreign policy and their "pro-American" governments as they benefit from these same policies.  Typical.

LEAVE THE FORBIDDEN TOPIC ALONE!  LEARN FROM ME!

You know the one topic I do not talk about on my show is abortion. And it is for good reason because there is nothing to discuss. Everyone has his/her own opinion and I am certainly not going to change that, nor is anyone else. Those opinions are deeply held whether religiously, morally or what have you. Now, I just wish that Republicans would wake up and drink the same juice. They will completely ruin their chances for the White House in '08 if their entire primary season is wrapped up in abortion rhetoric. Republicans need to be focusing on policies that will make positive changes in voters lives, rather than bickering about when each candidate feels that a fetus is considered a person with constitutional protections. This is intangible, folks. You can't debate this issue, so just leave it be. Forget the chances of any Republican in the White House if the party continues to go down this road.

I have an idea for you-how about taxes! I've got an even better idea, the FairTax Plan. Now there is a positive idea you can throw out there for voters to really get them excited and thinking.

THE RACE PIMPS WILL BE SPEAKING OUR SHORTLY

A four-year-old British girl is missing in Portugal.  Her name is Madeleine McCann.  Her parents were on vacation and, according to news reports,  left her and and her two toddler siblings alone in the hotel room while they went out for dinner.  When they came back, she was gone.  Now we have British celebrities contributing some rather huge sums to a reward fund for her safe return.  J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, has contributed $3 million to that fund.

Time for a little painful truth.  This reward fund is getting so large that sooner or later the race warlords are going to have to speak out.  Why?  Because Madeleine is a little white girl.   This will not go unnoticed.  Someone is going to step forward soon and complain that reward funds like this only materialize for white children.

Oh ... and we'll also get comments from some quarters saying that I am a racist for even suggesting this.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

I think this here is a fine example of "get 'er done." More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Some of our presidential candidates are refusing to release their tax returns.  Good.  Tax returns are and should remain private information.  I don't care about the charitable inclinations of presidential candidates, or how much they earned last year.  I care about their philosophy.  It's about what they're going to do in the future for -- or to -- our nation, not what they've earned and who they've given to in the past.

The people of Farmers Branch, TX are so fed up with illegal immigration in their town, that they decided to take action. They had a public vote (which passed with 68%) to prohibit landlords from renting to any illegal immigrants.

This is just tactless. Some teachers out in Tennessee staged a fake gun attack on an elementary school. Ten bucks says it is a government school. Bingo.

Is Fred Thompson getting ready to announce his candidacy?  Gotta say this ... the man just looks like a president.

Democrats have never been particularly fond of the concept of free speech.  I guess that's because it's so easy to use this particular freedom to embarrass Democrats.  John Fund writes that Democrats inside the beltway are preparing yet another assault on the First Amendment.

More good news from Iraq, as a key Taliban leader was killed in a raid by US military.  Don't you just love it when this happens?

The New York state government wants to broaden its DNA database to include anyone convicted of a crime.

George Will has it right ... thought it's something I've been saying for years.  This hate crime law they're pushing through congress right now does nothing less than criminalize thoughts and attitudes.  Hate crime legislation is political correctness run amuck.

Well .. they've done it.  We knew they would, but it's upsetting nonetheless.  PBS has nixed the documentary "Islam vs. Islamists"  There's too much to explain here ... suffice it to say that PBS doesn't like the documentary because it doesn't exactly paint Islam in a favorable light.  Well, duhhhhhhhh.  Read this article and then go sit down somewhere and try to cool off.

The rumors are building that Falcon's quarterback Michael Vick was involved in dog fighting.  How long before the Atlanta Falcons give Vick his walking papers?

Oh goodie ... the abortocentrists, that strange breed of people who would willing sail this country down the river over the abortion issue, are stirring up quite a puddin' storm in the Republican Party.  As this Wall Street Journal column says, the American people don't want to hear this.

Perky Katie just can't seem to make it as the anchor of the CBS Evening News.  So ... let's figure out who to blame!  Hey!  I know!  Let's blame white men!  Yeah, that's it!  Perky Katie isn't cutting it because the viewers prefer to get their news from white guys!  Hmmmmm ... let's see .... the largest demographic watching the CBS Evening news is .................  The New York Times weighs in also, citing last week's ratings as the worst in the 20-year history of the Neilson  ratings.  They didn't touch the "news from white guys" line though.

When it comes to detailing the dangers of allowing so many illegals to enter this country ... and then stay here ... Mark Steyn hits the nail every time.  In this column Steyn (who is hated by the left, by the way) says that "Fortress America's gate is open."

Republican Presidential candidate Tancredo calls 'em like he sees 'em

Here's a video for the musical group Bond that Neal has been talking about. Sexy ladies with string instruments.
