MEMORIAL DAY

How many times have you heard Memorial Day described in the media as "the unofficial beginning of the vacation season:"?

Sorry ... you may be looking forward to a vacation this year, and it may very well have started today or this past weekend, but Memorial Day is officially the day we pause to remember, to mourn and to thank the men and women who have given their lives for their country, for their comrades in arms, and for liberty while serving in our armed forces. 

Right now our men and women are giving their lives in a battle against Islamic terrorism and fascism.  Today isn't the day to argue whether or not that war is just or necessary, though there will surely be jerks who will view today as a day to protest.  I would hope that for must of us it is simply a day to honor those who have fallen. 

TODAY ON BOORTZ

Since this the graduation season, and since --- ONCE AGAIN --- I seem to have been overlooked by the nation's colleges and universities as a prospective commencement speaker (what a surprise!) ... we're going to present my commencement speech on the air today.  Enjoy!
