On CBS' "Early Show" with Harry Smith, Al Gore said, "the first concerns among defenders of democracy arose with radio. And that's why the equal time provision and the fairness doctrine and the public interest standard were put in place here. Those protections were almost completely removed during President Reagan's term." There you have it. OwlGore feels that the government should set the "public interest standards" for radio shows like this one. Well, maybe I am a low man on the totem poll, but liberals loathe the conservative influence in talk radio. They just can't stand the fact that people like Hannity, Limbaugh, Ingraham, and even little old me can get up here and yap for hours and hours and they can't do a darned thing to limit what I talk about.
Al is losing his political touch here. Sure, there was no real secret that he, along with the rest of the left, wants to shut down talk radio. After all, every attempt at bringing a successful left-wing talk show to the airwaves has met with failure. So, the rule in government is if you can't beat 'em, shut 'em down. But just how stupid do you have to be to voice your threat to shut down talk radio just days after your leftist fellow traveler Hugh Chavez shut down an opposition television station in Venezuela? And then you use virtually the same language that Chavez used to justify your plans? Poor Al Gore. Perhaps he was listening yesterday when I covered the news story about global warming on Neptune.
This warming of Neptune must be particularly distressing to Al Gore and the anti-capitalist global warming cabal out there. You see, there has been no recent build-up of greenhouse gasses on Neptune. No deforestation. No contrails from jets. No SUVs. Yet Neptune is warming. During our conversation Royal opined that the reason might be that Neptune is getting warmer because its orbit is elliptical .. and that it is getting closer to the sun. Royal cited the fact that at some times Pluto's orbit is actually outside that of Neptune due to the odd orbit. Well, Royal was right ... about Pluto being outside of Neptune on occasion. But the reason is that it is Pluto's orbit, not Neptune's, that is elliptical. Here are your details from Wikipedia:
Web Guy tells me we got a few emails yesterday telling me that I was an idiot because I didn't know that Neptune has an elliptical orbit. So ... just setting the record straight here. I've gone several weeks without reading negative and nasty emails. Now I find that I'm actually missing them! So .. yesterday I asked Web Guy (who remains unnamed to protect his sanity) to start sharing some of the more bizarre examples of negative email we receive. Well, it didn't take long. Here's a good example from some Turbo named Renee Petty:
Well, I didn't know who Kirk Cameron was, so I Googled him. There I found "Kirk Cameron's Official Website." When I clicked on the link (try it yourself!) I saw the message: "This Account Has Been Suspended. Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible." Uh oh. Looks like Kirk hasn't been paying his website bill! Maybe Turbo Renee can pass the collection plate for him. Oh wait, Wikipedia has the scoop on Kirk. And here's a little audio gem from our friend Kirk that pretty much sums up what he's all about.
Hillary then continued on to praise unions. No big surprise. Then she endorsed the "card check" method for union support, which does away with secret ballot votes and allows for intimidation and fear tactics to be used to gain union support. Unionize the entire middle class! Everyone, put down your will to succeed and pick up your union card...be just like everyone else so we can all be equal! Get ready for this dangerous woman. She's probably going to be your next president.
FBI officials are reporting that violent crime is still on the rise. Youth violence, gangs and gun crimes are largely to blame. In the first six months of 2006, violent crime rose 3.7 percent nationwide. Now, wouldn't you like to own a gun in self-defense? But wait! There's more! In a study done in summer of 2006, illegal aliens-or should I say criminals -- were linked to the rise in criminal activity in our country. Now ... get this: There is an average of 8 arrests per incarcerated illegal alien in this country. And these aren't just first offenders. Almost every single last one of them already had more than one arrest. And they are committing more than just one offense when arrested. You can average about 13 offenses per illegal alien. And then once they are arrested, American tax dollars are footing the bill for their incarceration. I am paying to house a criminal that isn't even a citizen of this country. OK ... so you read that last paragraph, and you said: "No way Boortz. You're wrong. Either you're lying or you just misread the research." OK .. you have a few choices here. You can click on this link. It's an article written by Jim Kouri, a vice-president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police. Or you can just read this paragraph I lifted out of his article:
Seal the borders. Get crime under control. Don't grant amnesty to million of criminals, many of which are contributing to the rise in violent crime in this nation. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK If you're a redneck, you might just have all the makings for your next BBQ on blocks in the front yard. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
Wouldn't this just be a thrill...Cynthia McKinney in the Presidential ring with Hillary Clinton. She hasn't ruled out running for the Green Party vote. Maybe she'll get a haircut before she sets out on the campaign trail... Take the Quiz: If you have a hard time determining which of these crimes is considered a "hate crime" then congratulations! You now understand the fundamental frustrating fact that you can't criminalize thought. A high school principal decided that a simulated picture showing the destruction of the American flag was too controversial to run in the school newspaper. Oh grow up...some schools are just too PC, and their kids will enter the real world all bright-eyed and wussified. Ron Paul and Rudy Guiliani battle it via YouTube. The Right Angle responds to a little video Ron Paul made called "Educating Rudy" with a couple educational videos for Ron Paul to take a peek at. Fred Thompson, U.S. Senator and "Law and Order" star, throws his hat in the ring for the Republican nomination. Tennis star Maria Sharapova got a little curvier than last time I saw her. Just take a look at the picture...need I say more? But her little dress looks more like a ballet costume than a tennis outfit. Now on Google maps you can see people's faces. Can you say Big Brother? And wouldn't you hate to be this guy, caught on google earth in front of a strip club? Now I love my dog Cocoa, but some pet owners just get ridiculous. Look at some of these animals-spy treatments, mud paths, frou frou outfits. Give me a break. Here's a real shocker-Iran said that it won't stop its uranium enrichment program. More on the guy with TB who flew overseas. What a stupid, stupid man. I would sure hate to be a passenger who was on that flight. Almost worse than screaming children in first class. | ||
