I found one thing very gratifying last night. Even though I had a different topic in mind, those students really wanted to hear about the FairTax. Think about this now. Students interrupting their evenings to wander over to the student center to hear someone talk about taxes? More than any other group, these students realize that the FairTax is about them. Let's face it, by the time we get this enacted I'll no longer have income ... income taxes won't be an issue for me any more. Instead, I'll be concentrating on property taxes. I'll be retired and wondering why in the hell I'm paying school taxes. Now .. just what are some of those things that you won't be taught at the University of Georgia? Let's start out with the fact that there is no right to vote in a federal election. Just what do you think the chances are that a professor is going to tell them that? I'll cover some of this in the information overload segment of the show today ... so be listening. One more thing about my speech last night at UGA. Here, again, is a link to an article written by sophomore Zaid Jilani for the UGA student newspaper. He is one o those "I'm all for free speech ... but ...." People. Do you think he was there last night to take me on? Was he there last night to ask me any questions? Was he there last night to challenge me? Yeah, right. What do you think.
You know things are getting bad when the feminists start calling you out. Kate Michelman is the former president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. She says that Hillary is "disingenuously playing the victim card," and she is infusing her campaign with messages about gender. Ooooh. Now mind you, Kate Michelman isn't just saying this for the baby's health, she has allied herself with the Edwards campaign. But it gets even worse. Even Nancy Pelosi is calling Hillary out for playing the women card. Nancy Pelosi ... the first woman Speaker ... a Democrat herself. But Nancy says that Hillary's campaign appears to have been trying to exploit the perception that she is being treated differently because she is a woman. Is anyone out there starting to feel sorry for Ms. Rodham? While we are on the subject of women, it's time for some insensitivity. New Labor Department data shows that women are still absent nearly twice as often as men in the workplace. Plain and simple: women call in sick more often than men. By the way ... Belinda isn't here today. Now the next question (and answer) is obvious ... why?? Sick kids, pre-K graduations, little Bobby's soccer team has an away game ... you catch my drift. Women without children are not absent as much, but they are still absent more than men. This is why I just did not hire women with small children or women who were likely to become pregnant when I had my law practice. I hired them to work, not begat. Moving on ... some people seemed shocked by this next point: married men with kids actually report a lower rate of absences than men without kids. Golly, I wonder why. Who would choose to stay home with a house full of screaming rug rats? Maybe it's because they feel added responsibility to bring home the bacon once there are little piglets running about. The researchers say absentee rates for women cannot be fully explained by family or health issues. No, no, no that would be too politically incorrect. Instead the problem is that "social expectations have created an 'absence culture' for women." So this has nothing to do with women actually taking responsibility for their own action, it is about the culture that is created around them. Now how would that work? Your child is graduating from pre-kindergarten. There is no reason in the world that you need to take a day off from work to be there .... EXCEPT that some of the other mothers are going to be there, and you don't want your child to be the only one there without his mommy. That ought to be interesting to talk about!
But maybe this is why you readers out there just aren't reading newspapers anymore. Let's go to the New York Times for their latest foray into the world of liberal propaganda. An editorial in the New York Times yesterday referred to private security firms such as Blackwater as "mercenaries." Now not to get technical on you, but let's take a look at the definition of a mercenary: A mercenary is a person who takes part in an armed conflict who is not a national of a Party to the conflict and "is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party". I seem to recall that the men working in private security in Afghanistan, protecting American diplomats and contractors, are Americans. So much for the "not a national of a party to the conflict" bit. In the world of the Times any person working in a combat zone who is not in the armed forces is a mercenary. We all know what the deal is here: The Times wanted to smear these people who are performing a necessary function, so hit them with the mercenary label. That ought to do it. I must admit, however, that I was shocked to see the New York Times print this on Sunday about the health insurance "crisis": "The 47 million includes about 10 million residents who are not American citizens. Many are illegal immigrants." Full disclosure compels me to tell you that it was not a Times reporter who finally told a bit of the truth about the poor, poor, pitiful uninsured ... it was an advisor to Mitt Romney. Back to newspaper circulation figures. I think we all know what one of the main culprits here is. I read six or so newspapers a day .. yet subscribe to none of them. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Naples Daily News, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and the Dunwoody Crier. I read them on the Internet, as millions of others do ... and this does not show up in circulation figures. The news and opinion coverage in these newspapers are probably getting read a lot more than the numbers indicate. The advertisers? Not so much.
OwlGore actually believes that science on global warming is so sure, that he compares it to people who still think the earth is flat. He says, "There are still people who believe that the earth is flat. But when you're reporting on a story like the one you're covering today, where you have people all around the world, you don't take, you don't search out, for someone who still believes the earth is flat and give them equal time." So in other words, if you are skeptical of global warming your position no longer matters. You are so out of whack with society, that your view point is not even worthy of coverage. This has gotten out of control, folks. How can you take this stuff seriously? Look at this headline, for example: "Climate change threatens national security." The Australians are saying that climate change will end globalization by the year 2040, because nations will be looking inward to conserve scarce resources. Conflicts are going to flare as "refugees flee rising seas and drought." I'm sorry, aren't we in the middle of a writer's strike? I didn't know that they were already writing the plot for Armageddon II. We've got crap like this being reported throughout the world. We have US Senators getting on the Senate floor and complaining about polar bears and Darfur, all in the name of global warming. History will be unkind to these cultists ... but in the meantime we have to make sure they don't use their phony global warming alarmism to vastly increase the size and power of government. That, my friends, is their real goal. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Oh look, another creative use of tighty whiteys. Maybe this little boy is related to this person. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS President Bush is now urging Pakistan's Musharraf to hold elections and relinquish his army post "as soon as possible." Problem ... Musharraf isn't listening. The idea of giving illegal aliens driver's licenses is, as Stephen Dinan says, "Unsafe politically at any speed." When Hillary realizes this watch for her position to change ... again. Are y'all ready for this? John Kerry says that there might be a next time for his presidential aspirations. It's always nice to have something to look forward to. The Poodle in a national campaign again. Former Governor Roy Romer told the Education Commission of States to challenge the '08 candidates to come up with strategies to address America's "education crisis." I have a strategy and it is only two words: SCHOOL CHOICE. There, now was that so hard? OK .. this just in. Kids in Florida are inhaling gasses produced from their own human waste to get high. When I was in high school we called these people sh&t heads. Atlantic City's former mayor admitted to lying about his military record in order to receive $25,000 in benefits (paid for by your tax dollars). Has he paid the money back yet? Boy do the Muslims have their turbans in a wad over this one. A Muslim man was raised as a girl because he born with genitalia that more closely resembled a vagina than a penis. Now he has undergone a sex change to officially make him a man. Allah is not amused. A Danish political party is using caricatures of the prophet Mohammed in their election campaign. Love it! Do the caricatures show him with a little girl? The airline industry's on-time performance for 2007 (so far) is the worst in 13 years. They'll find a way to blame it on some poor sap in his Cessna at a general aviation airport in the middle of nowhere. A man in the UK simulated a sex act on the pavement of a public street ... and now he has to register as a sex offender. Next ... he'll be told he can't live within 1000 feet of a public street. Parents are paying $175 to arm their little angels with bullet-proof backpacks. Well, Muslims do shoot school children in the back. (I know .. not ALL Muslims ..... ) Gotta love stories like this: a man survives a car crash, then he breaks into someone's home where the homeowner shoots him with a single bullet. Police in Croatia are investigating a local football (soccer) team for selling and wearing T-shirts bearing swastikas. I know you are really upset to hear this, but model Gisele Bundchen no longer wants to be paid in US dollars. Fine. How about no US dollars being used to purchase the stuff she's modeling? And I guess we can all just pack up now ... a large chunk of the universe has gone missing, and this is apparently not the first time it has been "lost." Probably caused by global warming. | ||
