There's another element here I haven't yet explored .. and that is the WHY? Was Berger acting to protect himself, or someone else. Did someone ask, beg or instruct him to retrieve those documents? If so, whom? Someone with an eye to future power? Someone with a promise of a future position of power? Well, as of late yesterday afternoon - that's more 12 hours after the news broke - where was the mainstream media coverage of Sandy Berger advising Hillary Clinton? New York Times. Nothing. Washington Times. Nothing. CNN. Nothing. LATimes. Nothing. Ditto for the Washington Post. Now, to be fair, I haven't had the time to go through all of these newspaper websites ... but durned if I don't think this is actual news! FOXNews covered the story. But the only paper to actually run a story was USAToday, after an interview with Hillary. Of course, now she is claiming that Sandy Berger "is an unofficial adviser." And while we are the subject of Hillary, let's talk about another story that the MSM won't cover either ... Hillary's pork-barrel spending. She, by the way, is one of the only candidates who refuses to identify her earmarks ... or "congressionally allocated funds." Well let's take a look at why. Between 2002 and 2006, Hillary earmarked more than $2.2 billion in spending bills. In the 2008 defense spending bill, Hillary managed to attach 26 earmarks worth more than $148 million. This was more than any other Senator except her Democratic compadre Carl Levin ... who is the chairman of the Armed Services Committee. How about a few local projects including $250,000 to the Seneca Knitting Mill, and $200,000 to the Buffalo Urban Arts Center. And I'm sure that is just the beginning. First the teachers unions and now this. Muslim terrorist leaders in the Middle East have actually endorsed Hillary for president. Ala Senakreh, West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist group says, "I hope Hillary is elected in order to have the occasion to carry out all the promises she is giving regarding Iraq." And Abu Hamed, leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in the northern Gaza Strip says, "Hillary and the Democrats call for withdrawal. Her popularity shows that the resistance is winning and that the occupation is losing. We just hope that she will go until the end and change the American policy, which is based on oppressing poor and innocent people." By the way ... the teacher's union endorsement bothers me more. They're more dangerous.
But the night before the story was set to air, Rather called Josh Howard. Howard had been named the executive producer for 60 Minutes. Rather wanted to know what they were doing to promote his "story." Howard's reply was "nothing." Clearly that was not what Rather wanted to hear. It was then that he said this to Josh Howard: "I'm going to give one of the documents to The New York Times to run in Wednesday's paper ... They'll have to credit CBS News. That way we can put our stamp on it." Newsman or partisan hack? The answer is clear.
How about another quote:
Remind you of any government you know?
Instead he says that the "SCHIP is a federal block grant to help states ensure that low-income kids have health coverage." Oh that's a fancier way of saying it ... welfare. And in many cases, for some of these "low-income kids," their parents can afford healthcare but choose not to purchase it. That's because having a cell phone and a flat screen TV is more important than healthcare coverage. That, my friends, is not the government's fault. Nice try Mr. Mathern.
Milwaukee has decided to cave to Hispanic groups crying over "racial profiling." Voces de la Frontera is a Hispanic organization that went straight to local police departments and demanded changes in policy, which would prevent questioning people of their immigration status during "unrelated investigations." And the police departments said, "por supuesto!" The group says that enforcing immigration laws distracts police from investigating local crime. Imagine that! Perhaps they failed to note that illegal immigrants are causing an increase in crime in the US. (But that must be beside the point.) Voces de la Frontera also says that enforcing the immigration laws "drives a wedge between law enforcement and minorities." The Whitewater Police Department was the first to cave to this "hands-off" policy. In fact the Whitewater Police Chief decided to stop collecting Social Security numbers from offenders so that the "minority community" wouldn't be offended. He actually points out that not collecting the Social Security numbers makes other police work more difficult! But that's the "tradeoff" he was willing to make. Now Milwaukee police officers can only question a person's immigration status in cases of violent crimes, suspected terrorism, street gang crimes or other limited cases. Solution? Denial of all federal funds to Milwaukee until they get their act together. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK I know we've featured some pictures from this wedding before, but this slideshow is really...well...something else. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
Mexican President Felipe Calderon said that the US shouldn't be building a
border fence between the US and Mexico. He says that instead the
US should be Media Matters tries to claim that it is not a political organization. It says that it is a "nonpartisan, progressive nonprofit that is unaffiliated with any political party or candidate." Again ... .Mierda del Toro. City libraries in New York are carrying books used as terrorist "recruiting tools." A librarian says they are there to represent a "diversity of views." Again ... this is New York we're talking about. Didn't they have a small problem with Islamic terrorists a few years ago? The government has cut off the security detail for a famous Dutch political writer because "many in Holland find her too loud, too public in her condemnation of radical Islam." The writer has received death threats from radical Islamists and was forced into hiding. Last week in the Boortz Blast I told you how illegal immigrants could change the make-up of the House of Representatives after the 2010 census. Well Barbara Boxer is offering an amendment to block immigration enforcement to ensure that illegals are counted ... gee, I wonder why. More on this battle between publicly funded private education for Manhattan's wealthy children. Hillary didn't seem too happy after being questioned by an Iowa man about her recent vote to call Iran's army a terrorist organization. The Israeli parliament is cracking down on its dress code ... jeans and "skin-baring tops" are now among the list of banned clothing. Air America is launching an Atheism program. A Texas stabbed his roommate to death because he had stinky feet. Wouldn't Odor Eaters have been easier? Your government school teachers ... hard at work.
