So .. why the big rush to get this resolution passed right NOW? Aren't there more important things for the congress to attend to? Have they passed all of the budgets they are required to pass? Oops ... don't think so! But maybe there is a reason that Pelosi and the MoveOn Democrats are pushing this issue right now. Maybe they're trying to make Turkey so damned mad at us that they'll withdraw permission for our military to use their airbases and airspace in the war against Islamic fascism. Maybe, as Thomas Sowell puts it, this is pure and simple Sabotage. This never crossed my mind ... but it seems it occurred to Jed Babbin. Is Pelosi backing this Armenian resolution thing as a way to derail our war effort in Iraq? Would she resort to something this underhanded? Why HELL YES she would! The Wall Street Journal editorial board doesn't think that this House resolution is such a good idea either. More details on the show today ... Already there are disagreements over the documents for the conference. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert wants this document to be vague on "final status issues" like the borders, status of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements and Palestinian refugees. But the Palestinians will not attend the conference unless they have a document that is specific on these matters and has a timeline for their resolution. Rice has already told Palestine to drop its expectations, at least for the timeline for implementation of final status agreements. Here we go again. Once more the Israelis will give ground and make compromises, and once again the so-called "Palestinians" will hold the line and refuse to enter into any meaningful agreement that allows the State of Israel to exist into the future. The military thinks that it has dealt devastating blows to al Qaeda in Iraq in recent months. Some generals are even advocating the declaration of victory over al Qaeda. But military commanders and the White House warn that it would be premature to do so. But there is "widespread agreement" that al Qaeda has suffered over the past three months. This is indicated by a sharp drop in suicide bombing, from 60 in January to 30 a month since July. Captures and interrogations are also leading to more killings and captures, which helps intelligence officials. Also the flow of foreign fighters from Syria has diminished. The major test will be next year when the U.S. military begins to turn security over to Iraqi forces. Despite all of this good news, just remember that the lame-stream media does not believe these good trends and does not consider this newsworthy. There wasn't one word of this development in the Washington Post yesterday ... and the New York Times buried it on the back page. Par for the course.
I urge you to do so. After Sanchez finished the speech the reporters couldn't wait to share with the American people his assessment of the war in Iraq. To put it gently, his assessment wasn't mild. Try this quote: "There has been a glaring, unfortunate, display of incompetent strategic leadership within our national leaders. As a Japanese proverb says: 'Action without vision is a nightmare.' There is no question that America is living a nightmare with no end in sight." He then went on to cite the partisan bickering in Washington as the source of many of these problems, saying: "The unmistakable message was that political power had greater priority than our national security objectives." There you go ... red and bold ... because it may be one of the most important statements General Sanchez made, and one of the least reported. Here's something else the reporters didn't seem to want to share with their readers; General Sanchez' assessment of the media. I've never heard it said better:
Again ...well said, General. It's too bad these stalwart reporters don't have just a fraction of the courage and honor that those men and women you commanded have. Perhaps, if they did, we would have seen these comments in print as well.
The priest was quizzed for over an hour by police to determine whether or not he committed a hate crime. The article points out that none of the inflammatory remarks of Muslim preachers have been investigated by the police as hate crimes. Well of course not! Wouldn't that be (gasp!) racial profiling? Can't have that, you know. Father Hayes argues that "it is never possible to convince anyone by argument in matters of religion." Meanwhile, a source at the Metropolitan Police Federation that conducted the investigation says that this could possibly be considered an abuse of police power. Possibly? There is such a lack of government-provided dentists in England that some people have gone so far as to pull their own teeth. Some have used superglue to stick crowns back on. One man did 14 extractions on himself ... with pliers. For a country that has grown reliant on government, government, government ... now patients are being forced to go to private dentists, which cost money. In fact 78% of people that went to private dentists say that they were there only because they couldn't find a National Health Service dentist. Only 15% were there because they wanted better treatment. This study showed that 6% of patients resorted to self-treatment, and one out of every five people decided to fore-go dental work because of the cost. One of the study's researchers ran across three people in one morning alone that had pulled out their own teeth. Here's where government shines. Over one-half of people said that new dentist contracts that the government introduced last year actually made quality of care worse. And 84% said that these changes failed to make it easier to find a dentist and be treated. Almost half of all dentists say that they no longer take NHS patients. Well .. that answers a lot of questions Americans have about our friends across the pond .. and it gives us another clear look at what things are going to be like in this country when we get Hillary's precious nationalized health care.

The former head of a U.S. detention facility in Iraq that held Saddam Hussein could be facing life imprisonment for charges including aiding the enemy. McCain says that if he is elected, he would exclude Russia from the G8 nations because of its growing restrictions on political freedoms. If it weren't for his hideous campaign finance reform law, I could almost support the guy. Anyone happen to catch this New York Times editorial: "One can generate a lot of heartburn thinking about all of the things that would be better about this country and the world if the Supreme Court had done the right thing and ruled for Al Gore instead of George W. Bush in 2000." Hillary Clinton is slowly starting to play the women card in her campaign for president. Single women voters ... those will be the people responsible for her victory. Thanks a pant-load, girls! The Chinese offered talks on a formal peace accord with Taiwan, but Taiwan rejected. The mother of a soldier shipped 80,000 cans of Silly String to the troops, to help them better detect trip wires. American soldiers are undergoing training sessions using many Afghan and Iraqi immigrants as actors. Take a look at who the Nobel Committee passed up so that they could give this year's award to OwlGore. And you want to argue that academia is fair and balanced? Take a look at this report on the University of Iowa's history department. Tony Blair is apparently "unhappy" with the direction he feels Gordon Brown is taking the Labour Party. Harold Ford wants to expand the obscenely-named Earned Income Tax Credit. Well fo course he does! He's a Democrat, and the ETIC is a welfare program? What's not to love about it? A passenger on ATA Airlines was detained after he refused to turn his iPhone from "airplane mode" to "off." The man was using his phone to watch a movie. Mrs. Fields, the cookie company, was afraid to offend people, so they took Christmas cookie gifts off of their 'holiday' section. Well so many people complained that they have brought Christmas back ... for now. Celebrity worship isn't exclusive to America ... this French rock star killed his girlfriend and only got 8 years in prison. And now they are letting him out after serving only half his sentence. Kiwi women are the most promiscuous in the world, averaging 20.4 sexual partners. They are second to Austrian men with 29.3 sexual partners. No .. there are no pictures with this link. Just read it for the news. Looks like my idea of the governor sending the Georgia National Guard to seize control of Buford Damn from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers got a bit of attention ... though not from the governor. | ||
