STOP ME IF YOU'VE HEARD THIS ONE

As you undoubtedly have noticed, the 2008 campaign has, for Democrats, been nothing but new entitlement programs, expansions of old entitlement programs, and tax increases. This is the essence of what it means to be a member of the MoveOn Democrat Party. Create more government dependency, and tax those not dependent on government to pay for it.

Here's a link to a Dick Morris column titled "The Democrats Hidden Tax Plans." When trying to guess what the Democrats want to raise taxes on, Morris suggests the best possible answer is "everything." Here's an excerpt from Morris's column:

Once the Democrats firmly control both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, they will probably:

  • Raise the top bracket on the income tax back up to 40 percent from its current 35 percent.
  • Increase the Capital Gains Tax from its current 15 percent to 30 percent or, perhaps, eliminate it entirely and tax these gains as ordinary income (at 40 percent).
  • Double, triple or perhaps eliminate the ceiling on FICA taxes so that instead of taxing only the first $99,000 of income, the levy covers a much higher portion of earned income.
  • Repeal much of the rollback in estate taxes passed by Bush.

The combined effect of these increases will be horrific, and will probably trigger a recession. As Election Day 2008 nears, it is easy to anticipate massive sell-offs of stocks and real estate in anticipation of a Democratic increase in capital gains rates.

Remember ... Morris knows these people. He knows how they think. He understands their motivations.

So now we have Charles Rangel, the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, coming out with his tax plan. All he needs to get this thing going is a MoveOn Democrat in the White House. First, of course, is Rangel's plan to soak the rich. You're not a real Democrat if you don't do something to assuage the wealth envy that drives so many of your followers. So right out of the gate he wands a four percent surtax on all incomes over $150,000. When you get to $500,000 there's another six-tents of one percent. He also wants to raise capital gains and dividend taxes on households that make over $200,000 a year. My bet is that the proposal will also include massive Social Security tax increases on the vile rich, with no increase in benefits.

This is how Democrats maintain political power. The formula is ridiculously simple. You raise taxes on the people whose votes you don't need and then spend that money on the people whose votes you do need. In Rangel's plan you will also see increases in entitlement programs for lower income (read "Democrat) voters such as increases in child care "credits" and the hideous Earned Income Tax Credit.

Thanks to the pitifully poor economic education our government most Americans do not understand that the very people Rangel and his Democrat Party pals want to hit with these tax increases are the people who create most of the jobs ... we're talking over 70% here ... for the very people Democrats are pandering to. Many Democrat voters are just fine with this "soak the rich" tax policy because they earnestly (and stupidly) believe that these people making the $200,000 incomes and more are raking all that money in by cheating and stealing. The Democrat education machine has done its job well. Do you think that there is one government school in this country that teaches its students that most small businesses operate as partnerships or limited corporations and that their incomes are shown as personal income for the owners? Do they realize that when the taxes on that person are raised, what is really happening is that taxes on the business are being raised .. and this means less profits, less money to invest in business expansion, and fewer new jobs. Yeah .. you find that school and let me know.

Start making your escape plans folks. It is going to be one helluva ride.

JUST A THOUGHT

I wonder how long it is going to be before peaceful Muslim radicals start demanding that hotel chains in the U.S. put a copy of the Quran in all hotel rooms.

DREAM ACT IS A FAILURE

Yesterday the DREAM Act failed to gain cloture in the Senate. It failed 52-44, eight votes short of the 60 votes required which would have ended debate and started the voting process. Still, Democrats, like Dick Durbin, feel that it is morally imperative that this bill, or some form of it, be passed.

While some Republicans, like Senator James Inhofe, were staunchly against the bill, other Republicans objected to its timing. Many complained that the Senate should be focusing on spending bills at this time, instead of debating controversial immigration reforms. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says that the Senate has yet to see an appropriations bill. I guess this is why Nancy Pelosi gets her thong in a wad, saying that the Senate moves too slowly. (Don't worry ... I'm sure they'll find another Muslim holiday to commemorate soon.)

The Internet tax moratorium expires in one week, and Congress has yet to address the alternate minimum tax. These are issues that affect legal, taxpaying Americans - rather than wasting time Hispandering.

STATES SUE U.S. OVER GLOBAL WARMING

Dozens of states are preparing to sue the Bush administration for delaying efforts to regulate emissions from cars and trucks. Two of the key states are New York and California.

New York's Eliot Spitzer has taken time away from giving drivers licenses to illegal immigrants in order to sue the White House. Wow. He's a busy man. Spitzer wants to issue regulations that would require power plants to pay for their greenhouse gas emissions. This is known throughout the Northeast as the Regional Greenhouse Gas initiative. Sadly, most people don't understand that the real issue here is raising revenue, not stopping global warming. With our luck, Spitzer will follow the lead of Australia and begin dolling out the money collected from power plants to pay poor people's electricity bills ... time will only tell.

So the states want to move beyond federal regulators in Washington. Fine. In the US we have this little thing called federalism, which allows states to do this. The problem is that states must get a waiver from the EPA to implement regulations requiring reductions of greenhouse gases. I guess this waiver process is taking too long, so the states are suing to prove a point. Spitzer says, "The global warming issue is one where the current administration has first denied the scientific evidence and only recently begun to discuss the matter in a serious way."

If the regulations are implemented, it would make it harder for automakers to sell large SUVs and pickup trucks in the states that adopt these rules. So now the automakers are the evil bad guys and it is government to the rescue to make sure that it is harder for you to buy the sinful SUVs.

And now, for no reason at all, Stormstoopers in a Pool

MUSLIM ATTACKS MILITARY POLICEMEN

This story just keeps getting weirder and weirder. In Miami a man by the name of Tahmeed Ahmad went to Homestead Air Reserve Base and told guards that he wanted to kill soldiers. He did this while wielding two butcher knives and vodka bottles to use as explosives and chanting ''Death to America."

But don't worry ... authorities say that he is not a terrorist. Whew. Except for the little fact that Ahmad was already on the terror watch list. Instead, Ahmad says that he is "mentally ill." Ahmad's mother says that he had recently been in a mental institution.

But then it gets worse. Ahmad is a government math teacher Miami Central High School. In fact, the government recruited him to teach at Miami-Dade schools.

So let's get this straight. Tahmeed Ahmad (born in Kuwait) is placed on a federal terrorist watch list. He is recruited by government schools to teach math. He assaults military officers saying he wants to kill Americans ... but he is not a terrorist, he is just "mentally ill." Now he is charged with assaulting a U.S. government employee.

Why the hell is this man still alive?

SEXUAL EQUALITY REGULATIONS

Vincent and Pauline Matherick are devoted foster parents and have cared for almost 30 children throughout the years. Now the British government is taking away their current foster son because the Mathericks refuse to sign new sexual equality regulations. The couple does not want to sign it because it goes against their Christian faith.

The British government feels that the boy will better taken care of by a government hostel than staying with the Mathericks ... simply because they refuse to teach their child about homosexuality.

Earlier in the year, the County Council's social services department asked the Mathericks to sign a contract, which would implement Labour's new Sexual Orientation Regulations. These regulations are apparently part of the Equality Act of 2006, which makes discrimination on the grounds of sexuality illegal.

The government told the couple that the new regulations require parents to discuss same-sex relationships with children as young as 11, and they are to tell children that gay partnerships are just as acceptable as heterosexual marriages. Regulations could also require parents to take teenagers to gay association meetings.

Now look, folks. I don't care if you're gay, green, Wiccan or what have you. But the fact that the government is going to require parents to teach their kids about anything is absurd.

NORTH DAKOTA EDUCATION

Click here to see your government at work ...at least if you live in the state of North Dakota. Spending keeps growing and growing under Governor John Hoeven. One of the greatest increases in spending is on education. But even though many are critical of Hoeven's spending spree, even critics are afraid to challenge dramatic increases in educational spending because "It's the children ..."

Since 1999, spending on education in North Dakota has increased by 30%. That's over $700 million on education per year. North Dakota must have some great schools. Why there must be a lot of people flocking to North Dakota just to get their children in those fantastic schools .. and that's why they need more money!

Wrong. Enrollment has decreased by almost 20,000 students. But the government will continue to increase property taxes ... for the children. North Dakota: you have issues.

By the way ... if one of your believers in government schools can come up with some evidence that spending more money improves education ... let me know. I would love to see it.

Turkey's attack against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq began yesterday.

Are Democrats too confident in 2008 election race? Since the Republicans have no agenda whatsoever - at least no agenda other than going to whatever lengths necessary to control women's wombs - how could the MoveOn Democrats possibly be over-confident?

Now the Chinese are saying that a US missile defense shield in Europe would jeopardize global stability. Anything that gets in the way of Chinese military expansionism jeopardizes global stability.

Meanwhile, the Czechs are upset over Washington's suggestion to allow Russian soldiers to staff one of the radar stations. Apparently Washington must have forgotten that little thing called Soviet occupation, which lasted for decades in Eastern Europe.

CNN does not want to 'irresponsibly' link the fires in California to global warming ... yet.

And now CNN in Israel may be yanked off the TV because Israelis say it has an anti-Israeli bias. But get this. CNN would be replaced with none other than Al-Jazeera in English. I'm trying ... believe me, I'm trying ... but this just doesn't make sense.

San Diego may soon experience blackouts as major power grids are in jeopardy. Remember, it's all because of two things (1) global warming; and (2) the Iraq war.

Yesterday President Bush really challenged the international community to aid in Cuba's transition to a peaceful democracy and not "a new tyranny."

This week on college campuses, students are attending classes wearing empty holsters to protest campus gun bans. Some students are putting bananas in their holsters.

Looks like Congress just can't give up its pork ... even if it's "for the children."

Senator Carl Levin threatened to move his state of Michigan's primary to the same day as New Hampshire's, so that New Hampshire wouldn't have the privilege of being first. This, too, is because of global warming.

Louisiana State Sen. Derrick Shepherd is being investigated by the FBI for helping a convicted felon launder more than $140,000 in bogus construction bond fees last year and then keeping half the money. Shepherd is blaming global warming.

How about 35 inconvenient truths for OwlGore - 35 errors in his movie, according to the Science and Public Policy Institute.

Republicans in Virginia are really worried about Democrats taking control of the state legislature for one huge reason ... the Democrats will destroy the current crackdown on illegal immigration. The Mexican invasion, in case you didn't know, is being cause by gl .... Oh, forget it.

Amnesty International is criticizing Hamas and Fatah for their abuses of human rights ... gee ya don't say.

Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan received an honorary knighthood in London for his "extraordinary non-military service." So they have an award for being a corrupt jerk?

This ad of a homosexual newborn has apparently caused a brouhaha in Italy.

Video of the day: maybe it's time for a little potty humor from the animal kingdom.
