DEMS PLAN TO CUT FUNDING

Combover Carl

... for the war against Islamic extremism.

Senator Carl Levin (a democrat) is the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. He is working with Senator Jack Reed (also a democrat) on a strategy that would basically cut the White House's war funding request in half. He hopes this will put enough pressure on President Bush to change course in Iraq.

Senator Reed says that Democrats want to include language in the supplemental that would target a complete withdrawal from Iraq in nine months. In the House, Democrats want to withhold the supplemental until President Bush commits himself to changing course in Iraq ... this would force war funding to go through the regular budget process.

The White House points to the fact that Congress can't even pass its annual appropriations bills. So sending something like this through the "regular budget process" would put our troop in harm's way ... because Congress would never get to it in time. I suppose that is the Democrat's version of supporting our troops.

Interesting, isn't it, that when most analysts would agree that progress is being made ... the MoveOn Democrats want to "change the course." The course the Democrats want is a course to defeat ... for it is defeat that gives them their reward and their victory. Bush is right ... the Democrats can't pass their appropriations bills .. they're certainly not as important as insuring our defeat overseas. Weakening a Republican president is job number one.

QUOTE OF THE DAY .. MAYBE OF THE YEAR

"Hillary tried to get a million dollars for the Woodstock museum. I understand it was a major cultural and pharmaceutical event. I couldn't attend. I was tied up at the time." - John McCain

VETOING S-CHIP ... AGAIN

President Bush said that he would definitely veto the S-CHIP bill if Congress did not make significant changes. Bush says that it has not "meaningfully addressed earlier objections."

Meanwhile, hopefully Jamie Dupree has managed to stay out of the crossfire as Congressmen are getting ugly on the House floor. Words are flying in the debate, and yet no one has seen the bill! If it is such a great bill, where in the hell is it? Don't be surprised, though. These people often vote on bills they've never even read.

Basically, politicians are being politicians and using every procedural vote possible to delay actually doing anything until Monday.

OBAMA AND OWLGORE?

A voter asked Barack Obama whether he would consider OwlGore as his running mate. That apparently is a big fat no. But Obama did say that he would have Gore "involved in our administration in a very senior capacity." How about Secretary of Alarmism? And then Obama goes on to say that this would be a step down for the now over-inflated OwlGore. Obama isn't going to step up ... so Gore needn't worry.

NEW IRAN SANCTIONS

Yesterday the Bush administration announced new sanctions against Iran, charging that Tehran supports terrorism, exports missiles and is building nuclear capability. (Let's not forget who is helping them with that: the Russians.)

Rice says that Washington is still open to diplomatic solutions. Don't hold your breath. Iran is having too good a time stirrin' the puddin'. Thanks to years of Democrat anti-war efforts the weird beards of Iran don't think America has the 'nads to do anything about their nuclear activities. The Israelis - now that's another story.

The sanctions cut off more than 20 Iranian entities from the American financial system. These include individuals and companies owned/controlled by Irans' Revolutionary Guard. This is likely to have an effect on the international banking community. The sanctions are also in place for three Iran state-owned banks, which means that any of their assets found in the US will be frozen. Americans cannot do business with them. The sanctions also make it somewhat problematic for companies outside the US that do business with the designated Iranian groups.

OK .. diplomatic solutions first. No problem with that. But the bottom line is that these Muslim maniacs can't be allowed to go into the business of producing nuclear bombs.

NHS BUDGET 'SURPLUS'

Britain's National Health Service has been boasting that they have a budget "surplus." But a new report shows that they have a "surplus" because they have $8 billion worth of key maintenance repairs that have been left undone. That figure would be more than eight times more than their heralded "surplus."

Now Department of Health is saying, "Oh no ... that's not true ... because 'repairs' come under a different budget." Oh yeah ... that works. The arrogance and incompetence of government rears its ugly head. If this is true, that means that there is one budget that counts, and another one for those silly repairs.

The Health Secretary says, "Public health budgets, education and training budgets and now the basic maintenance and upkeep of our hospitals have been laundered to produce this surplus." According to the Health Minister, maintenance that affects patient care is "always prioritized" but now responsibility to repair hospitals suddenly lies in the hands of the local NHS. He says "low priority" maintenance work doesn't get done because it would be "irresponsible to disrupt patient services."

Why should you give a flying you-know-what? This is your future in America. This is your health care future. Watch the red tape unwinding. Count the excuses. How many people have taken responsibility for letting British hospitals suffer from basic repairs? I'll tell you how many: none. Because that it government. And that is the future of this country. You don't want to be responsible for your own health care. You want the government to do it. So get ready for delays, long lines, shoddy facilities ... the works. Just visit your local Social Security office. Look at those people sitting around while workers file their nails. Coming soon to a doctor's office near you.

REAL OR HOAX?

Everyone seemed to enjoy the first "real or hoax" quiz last Friday, so let's do another one! Can you tell which is real and which is a hoax? And here is the last one in case you missed it.

This little kid doesn't look too thrilled about his alien Halloween costume, does he?

Friends of the Earth, an environmental activist group, says that the fires are President Bush's fault because he hasn't allowed California to fight global warming emissions. What idiots.

A new study shows that climate change models can never give a precise prediction of how greenhouse gases will warm the Earth. That doesn't bother Gore or his sycophants though.

Sponsors of the Armenian genocide bill have decided to delay the House vote ... for the time being.

Bill Richardson is launching his poverty campaign, asserting that poverty and hunger are the greatest threats to the stable world. Didn't he learn anything from John Edward's lousy poverty campaign? And I can think of a few things that are more threatening than poverty ... let's start with Islamic extremism. Then there's Hillary. Then government schools. This is Richardson pushing for second spot on Hillary's ticket.

Here's an update on the Khalil Gibran International Academy in Brooklyn ... the public school, funded by taxpayers, that some consider a madrassa.

Take a look at this botched interview with Joe Biden. How many times does his campaign staff have to "clarify" his remarks? Biden's misstatements were due to global warming.

People are actually calling Hillary out for her pork spending. In particular, the $1 million bill for the Woodstock Festival museum.

The White House is defending the editing of Julie Gerberding's remarks. She's the CDC boss. The censors said that "language on the subject did not pass review."

After his remarks about African's intelligence, Nobel prize winner James Watson is quitting as chancellor of a leading U.S. research facility. Watson is blaming global warming for his remarks.

Israel is going to start cutting off power to the Gaza Strip for every rocket that is launched. Love it.

David Horowitz was to speak at Emory University for Islamofascism Awareness Week, only until he was booed to the point where the speech was canceled.

Yesterday an auction in Dallas began the bidding at $100,000 ... for a lock of Che Guevara's hair. Guevara was killed by global warming, as you know.

Apparently while I'm out here in Texas, staying at a hotel, I need to be aware of naked sleepwalkers!

Sometimes how people act when they think they are anonymous is really quite disgusting. I've posted this before, but see again how the internet can bring out the worst in people in the comments on this surveillance video posted on youtube.
