In 1997 Great Britain instituted a ban on firearms. For those of you relying on the government for your education, that was 10 years ago. So ... that would mean that Britain has just been a perfectly safe place to live for ten years or so ... and getting safer, right. Wrong. It would seem that crimes committed with guns have just about doubled since the ownership of these guns was banned. Let's say it again ... ban guns, gun crime doubles. It doesn't take much more than a room temperature IQ to figure out that when the law says that you can't have a gun, only people who obey the law are likely to get rid of their guns. In the meantime, those who prey on others relax in the knowledge that it is less likely that their victim is going to be armed. And so it is around the world. Ban guns and gun crimes increase. Legalize guns and crime rates drop. How in the world do we get liberals to understand this?
Belinda got a call from one of the suits at C-Span on Friday. He told her to pay no attention at all to this "Rich" character, and that they were perfectly pleased with their live telecast of my show last Wednesday. Now I feel much better. Now .. having said that ... if C-Span decides they want to try this nonsense again I'm going to be ready. I'm going to develop some charts and other visual aids, and during every break at the top and the bottom of the hour I'm going to hold a workshop on the FairTax right there on the air for all the C-Span viewers. No more dull breaks just watching me pick hair out of my ear.
Typically, leftists are painting this as a case of evil lenders taking advantage of completely innocent and put-upon poor, poor pitiful borrowers. Check out this paragraph from a Washington Post editorial:
Yeah .. that's the ticket. Those evil, filthy rich, corrupt capitalist lenders and investors must suffer the consequences of their bad business decisions, but nobody can expect a simple borrow to ever read those loan documents, and so they have to be protected, especially the sainted low-to-moderate (read "not rich") ones. Business is evil. Power to the people..
OK ... do you now have the definition of a criminal in mind? If you've committed a crime, you are a criminal. If you've been convicted of a crime, you are a criminal. I realize that this is a tough concept for some liberals to grasp ... but even with my government school education, I think I get it. Now, may I draw your attention to this editorial that appeared on July 24th in the Indianapolis Star? The title of the editorial is "Illegal doesn't make them criminals." Well now! If ever there was a headline or a title to a column or editorial that better exemplifies the mindset of the leftist media in this country, this would be it. This editorial is full of so much unadulterated bullcrap, I hardly know where to start. First, of course, the editors of the Indianapolis Star just can't bring themselves to say the words "illegal aliens," even though that is the official government label applied to people who enter this country illegally. For the most part the Star just refers to them as "immigrants". Instead of attaching the "illegal" word to these criminals, the Star editors refer to them as "young male immigrants ... who arrived in this country without proper documentation." Gawd .. this political correctness is just infuriating! These are not "young male immigrants who arrived in this country without proper documentation," they are criminals who crossed our borders illegally, who obtained jobs here illegally (often with forged documents), and who remain here illegally. The Star editors try to portray them as poor, hapless, unfortunate Mexicans who crossed the border into this country in the dark of night and then were m to suddenly discover that, ay caramba, they didn't have the proper documentacion! In one part of this editorial the reader is told that there is no reason to believe that these "young male immigrants" are any more likely than anyone else to commit a crime. Then, a few paragraphs later, we're told that the crime rate in Indianapolis has risen as the immigrant population has grown. OK guys .. which is it? The paper then goes on to blame the problem of illegal immigration not on those who actually commit the crimes, but instead on our own government? And just why would that be? Why, because we're not letting them in legally! That means they just have to break the law to get here! Oh .. now I understand.
Now how do I know this? Well, this "Watching America" website from Tunisia says so! By the way, at the beginning of this story you'll find the following amazing statement from M'Hamed Ben Youssef: "The masters of the so-called 'civilized' world have yet to take adequate measures to slow the malevolent passions of their citizens toward one of the most tolerant religions in the world, which is based essentially on mercy and forgiveness: Islam." Oh yeah! M'Hamed said just what we were all thinking ourselves, right? Tolerant religion my cheeks. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK You know, we really don't know exactly what to call this...except it is clearly a redneck production. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Robert Novak writes that he has never seen the morale of the Republican Party so low. Well, I guess that's what happens when you completely abandon your principles and double the size of the federal government when you move into power after 40 years in the wilderness. You think the Republicans are melancholy? Wait until you see the reaction of freedom-loving Americans when the Democrats solidify their control next year. Under this plan you're free to cruise public bathrooms for homosexual sex .. if you will buy a heterosexual offset! Well now here's a big surprise. When choosing a mate, men go for looks. How long ago was it that Darwin first came up with this brilliant finding? A "random thoughts" column from Thomas Sowell. These are the best! Almost as good as when I do an "intemperate thoughts" bit. Frederick Kagan is a military historian presently doing research for the American Enterprise Institute. Kagan says that the Labor Day visit by Bush to Iraq could well be the turning point, not only in the combat in Iraq, but in the war on terror. Bad news for Democrats? Are they ready to cave in to Muslim censorship in Sweden? Not only that .. but the U.N. is getting into the act. Read this one, my friends. It's about freedom .. and the repression that may be coming to a theatre near you! Miss. Teen South Carolina ... still being mocked. And deservedly so! Pardon my French, but what this hell is this? Not to mention this! Liberals, gotta love 'em. The union push for nationalized (socialized) health care could be bad for union workers. Not that the unions really care all that much. It's all about power, not what's best for the workers. Oh yeah, we knew this was going to end up on youtube. Apparently it's everyone's favorite part of our C-Span broadcast. | ||
