We needed a Mexican food fix while on the road, so off we went on a quest. Finally found a Mexican restaurant in an industrial area .. thus guaranteeing a good number of actual Mexican customers. Halfway thru the first bowl of pico we noticed something one might call a bit odd. Every once in a while the Mexicans in this restaurant would shout "wooly bully!" Don't ask ... we have no idea. Maybe some sort of a code word for immigration officers. Or ... it could be worse, I suppose ... Another restaurant adventure. There we are, The Queen and I, enjoying a nice dinner in a 5-star restaurant. Our dinner entertainment? Glad you asked. Two ladies sitting at the next table discussing their periods. Now .. if I was on the air today, what would I be talking about? First of all, of course, would be this obsession that Bruce Bartlett has with the FairTax and Scientology. I'm writing a column on that issue .. and we'll see if Town Hall will publish it. The FairTax has about as much of a connection with Scientology as I do with the Communist Party. Clearly the FairTax has quite a few people really worried. The more steam we build the more their precious income tax system is threatened. A transfer of power this size from the government to the people is something that many just cannot tolerate. Then there's Hillary Clinton. Many of you may have missed this, but Ms. Rodham was talking to a retirement group last week when she promised to save Social Security. No surprise there. That's why the Social Security system exists in the first place ... so that Democrats can promise to save it every time an election rolls around. This time though Hillary went just a bit further. She promised her audience that there would never been any Social Security privatization so long as she was in office. Then she added that "privatization isn't the answer to anything." Now think about this. If privatization isn't the answer to anything, then that means that something else must be the answer to everything. And just what would that be? Why, government, of course! The only choice other than privatization is governmentization. Remember what the Democrats were saying years ago when the debate over the formation of the Department of Homeland Security? I forget which Democrat came up with this gem, but the word was "you don't professionalize unless you federalize." Democrats love government over the private sector most of the time, and Hillary has just told us that she loves government over the private sector all of the time. That, my friends, would be the definition of a Socialist. This scary woman is going to be our next president ... Thanks to the vote of young single women.
You know, you too could be just a junkyard visit away from your very own home theater room. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.
Now ... I want to get back to my vacation, so here are some: READING ASSIGNMENTS Even before the official release of the Petraeus report, Joe Biden, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, says that the strategy in Iraq is failing and Petraeus is 'dead flat wrong.' They refer to it as the "Bush Report." Come on, folks. How much evidence do you need that the Democrat Party is not only invested in failure in Iraq, it's virtually dedicated to it. I'm sure your IT department at work will be thrilled that we're about to point out that you can stream General Petraeus' report live on the internet if you are so inclined. The fun starts at 12:30PM ET. Did you happen to miss the first-ever presidential debate --- in Spanish? The Democrats debated on Univision, which broadcasts to over 44 million Americans. We'll see how many actually tuned in. You realize, of course, that this broadcast was aimed at citizen Hispanics who can vote legally, and all of those illegals the Democrats hope will be voting. Wake up, America! Why do you think Democrats are always opposing any law that requires voters to actually prove their identity? In San Francisco they are considering legislation to give city ID cards to "immigrants unable to get traditional ID cards." Gee, I wonder why they can't get "traditional ID cards" .... could it be because they are illegal and are therefore criminals? What the hell, this is San Francisco we're talking about. After the latest tape from bin Laden, U.S. Homeland Security officials say that bin Laden is 'virtually impotent' and only has the power to send video messages. Yeah ... that's right. Let's goad him. Are we trying to sucker him into coming out into the open? Mark Steyn is at it again ... this week he's asking the question, where is the war? Britain wants to ban plasma screen TVs? Because aaaactivists say that they use too much wasteful energy. Yeah, there you go; plasma TVs are killing polar bears. Only one in four people say they would vote for a Mormon. But even more people say that they would not vote for an atheist or a Muslim. Golly, Mitt! Isn't it nice to be rated above atheists and Muslims? <p>MoveOn.org is running an add in the NYTimes, in conjunction with General Petraeus' report from Iraq, claiming that Petraeus is a traitor and is 'cooking the books' for the White House. You may think that MoveOn.org is part of the looney left, and you would be right ... but remember that the Democrat Party is in debt to MoveOn.org up to its collective neck. After the thwarted Islamic attack in Germany, the Germans are now considering allow the government to allow Internet spying on all Germans who convert to Islam. Wouldn't it be easier just to commit them? Britain is forcing all immigrant workers to learn English before they are allowed into Britain. This is expected to drastically cut the number of immigrants coming into Britain. Now if they can just do the same for the Geordies. Scientists have been studying the brain differences between liberals and conservatives. Liberals are, apparently, more apt to handle 'ambiguity and conflict' than their conservative counterparts. Another Democratic candidate says that he would lift the trade embargo with Cuba. He says that other than Iraq, no other US policy is more unpopular than the Cuban embargo. I'm not so sure. How about the US policy of not securing our borders against the Mexican invasion? In Britain they are threatening to throw people in jail for up to two years for using their cellphones in the car or for playing with GPS or MP3 systems. They need to work on driving on the right side of the road first. For those of you who didn't make it to New York City for the Muslim Day parade, here are some of the highlights. Muslims on parade ... what fun! Watch former pop princess Britney Spears' career commit suicide on MTV's Video Music Awards. I sure hope she invested the money she made well, else there's a Waffle House calling her name. Today's PSA/timewaster: How To Cope With Death. Stick with it, it's cute! | ||
