So ... after the show they changed their lighting, brought in their reporter, set the stage, and the taped interview got under way. It took no time at all for them to make it clear what their agenda was in this interview, and why they chose my particular show. Barackobamamania. The interview was 90% Barack Obama ... and the thrust of the interview was that America was a racist nation and that there were huge numbers of people in this country, especially from the evil South, who simply would not vote for Barack solely because of the color of his skin. More on the show today. (That's called a tease).
Somehow you have to come to the understanding that all of this talk about "universal health care" is simply political rhetoric designed to bring you to the point that you will not only accept, but you will seek a government-controlled health care system in the U.S. Come on folks .. I have to be blunt here, but what in the hell are you thinking? You can't sit there and tell me of one single program or endeavor that our politicians administer that you honestly think is handled better than it would be under the private sector. Go ahead ... tell me how much you like Social Security. Tell me you like the idea of less than a one percent return on your money - and then only if you live long enough to collect for many years after retirement. Tell me how much you admire the government administers medical care for our veterans. Then tell me how much you're looking forward to the government having more and more control over your medical care. Just yesterday the MoveOn Democrat candidate Hillary Rodham was suggesting that under her government-controlled health care plan Americans would have to show proof to any prospective employer that they have a health insurance policy before they could go to work. Now just try to think about that for a minute ... not with the mind the government left you after years of government education, but with the mind and the though process you have developed since you escaped the government indoctrination centers and started to experience real life in the private sector. Think ... You want to hire someone to clean the leaves out of your gutter. Can't you just see yourself sitting there in the kitchen with this character going over his health insurance policy before you put him to work? How far is this regulation going to go? Are you going to have to call his insurance company and confirm coverage before he starts climbing ladders? Just what is our favorite fascist female candidate proposing? This: Before you can trade your intellectual or physical labor to another party in return for something of value, be it money or some other form of property, you will be required by the government to purchase a health insurance policy. And we're not talking about just any health insurance policy - it has to be one approved by the government! It would not matter one whit that you were satisfied with the terms of your policy ... the government must be satisfied also! Oh ... and get this. If you happen to be a highly successful individual, and you go out and purchase a policy with too much coverage, then you are going to have to pay a penalty to ... you got it ... the government! That's right! Not does the police state force you to buy a policy, but that very same police state penalizes you if you buy one that is too much better than some other people might be able to afford! If you have an ounce of sense you will know that the answer to whatever health care crisis we have is the private sector. Only through participation in the private sector can we have affordable comprehensive health care and preserve our liberties. Sure - it's completely fair for you to ask "Ok, Boortz ... just what private sector options are you talking about?" First ... if you're really interested in this, I'll give you something to read. Click here and you can download a policy study by the Reason Foundation titled "Emergency Medical Services Privatization: Frequently Asked Questions." [pdf] There's no time here to go into detail on private sector solutions ... but here are just a few examples; examples that most politicians do not like because they empower the people and the private sector while taking power away from the political class:
Just some thoughts ...... and now, moving right along to .... What is the big deal about affordable housing? If someone builds a house, and someone else purchases that house, than that house is, by definition, affordable. Just remember that whenever you hear a politician or an aaaaccctivist mouthing off about affordable housing, what they're really talking about is using the police power of government to either:
The Riverside Township had created a law that would penalize landlords for renting to illegal immigrants and businesses that hired them. About 129 municipalities across America have passed similar measures already. None have yet to actually implement them. In the case of the Riverside township, the ACLU got involved. It sued the town, arguing that the law violated the civil rights of the illegal immigrants. It also said that the law overstepped the town's authority and would hurt businesses. So what did the town do in the face of criticism? It repealed the law. Just like that ... its entire basis for cracking down on illegal immigration was completely scrapped. Why do we put cowards in public office? Is it because we, ourselves, are afraid?
Thank God for some level-headed judge out in Mexifornia that refuses to let the warmer cult fight the global warming battle in the US court system. Martin Jenkins is a federal judge in the Northern District of Mexifornia. He tossed out a lawsuit filed by Mexifornia's attorney general, which sought hundreds of millions of dollars from automakers. Why? For damaging the state of California with "climate-changing greenhouse gases." Judge Jenkins says that the issue of global warming should be left up to politicians and not fought in the legal arena. The judge said; "The Court finds that injecting itself into the global warming thicket at this juncture would require an initial policy determination of the type reserved for the political branches of government." And they found this judge in Mexifornia?
Yesterday the Senate was voting on whether residents of the District of Columbia have the right to vote for their own representatives. Well you'll be happy to hear that the pro-voting rights side failed to gain enough votes to stop the filibuster. Thus, DC will not add a representative to the House. I've said this time and time again ... there is no Constitutional right to vote. And when it comes to DC, it gets even trickier because they do not live in a state and are thusly not under the jurisdiction of any state-granted voting rights. Nevertheless, nobody forced these people to live in DC. If they want to be in a state where they can vote for their representatives in government ... then move. But just in case you want further clarification of the "rights" of DC voters, Justice Scalia wrote an opinion in 1984. He says that the Seat of Government Clause of the Constitution gives Congress "extraordinary and plenary" power over our nation's capital. He says that this "enables Congress to do many things in the District of Columbia which it has no authority to do in the 50 states ... There has never been any rule of law that Congress must treat people in the District of Columbia exactly the same as people are treated in various states." If the DC residents don't like it, don't give them a voting representative --- give them luggage and cab rare. Sure is tough to be a cartoonist lately. The government of Bangladesh has ordered the arrest of another cartoonist for publishing a "blasphemous" caricature of the Prophet Muhammad. Muslim mobs publicly torched the paper, and, of course, you have the required protests. The angry Muslims want "exemplary punishment" for the cartoonist and the paper's editor. Want to see the "blasphemous" cartoon? Here it is, with a translation at the bottom. It's totally innocuous. Too bad we can't say the same thing about radical Islamists. READING ASSIGNMENTS Your friendly Mormon update; but unfortunately this one isn't going to bode well for Mormons. In Utah a court rejected a motion to dismiss a case against a Mormon "prophet" of abreak-away Mormon sectwho presided over the wedding of a 14-year-old girl. This is the mentality of the Left. The Governor of Maryland, Martin O'Malley came into office with $1.8 billion in the state's savings account. Now he wants to raise taxes to meet budget shortfalls, which are the result the state spending money faster than it was coming in. But rather than slashing government spending, like a typical Democrat, he wants to raise taxes while expanding healthcare initiatives and new environmental spending. The EU is pledging to set up an alliance with poor countries to help them combat the perils of climate change. Would someone give these people something to do .. like regulate sausage or something like that? A recent poll shows that 67% of Americans think that Bush is doing a poor job as President. See we can be fair and balanced here on the Boortz show. This is a terrible story about a government school teacher arrested on sex charges. But the weird part is the reaction in the story. Students are feeling "betrayed" and wonder if "teachers' compassion is fake" ... students are also worried about missing their medieval studies class because of the incident. Either this article is poorly written or this community needs to get its priorities straight. Here's a start: take your kid out of government schools. Great Britain found a 21-year-old Muslim guilty for Islamist terrorism offenses. Those offenses included, providing terrorist material via the Internet including bomb-making materials and threatening to become a suicide bomber. Immigrant children are having trouble adapting to America ... because their parents feed them too much junk food. I mentioned this yesterday, but it's just too good to pass up. Seattle residents are looking forward to riding the SLUT -- South Lake Union Streetcar. I wonder what government bureaucrat came up with that acronym. It looks like Al Gore has indoctrinated some blonde bimbos. These rocket scientists are now strutting their fun bags and spewing global warming dogma at the Miss Earth beauty pageant. A Nebraska state senator is suing God, in order to make a point about frivolous lawsuits. He wants to show that the "doors to the courthouse are always open." I talked to God last night and he tells me that he doesn't think he's going to need a lawyer for this one. Besides ... where would God find a lawyer? 49% of Americans think that celebrities should get involved in politics. Democrats were much more willing to accept celebrities in politics - gee I wonder why - with only 33% saying they needed to stay out. Can you say celebrity worship? We know a thing or two about traffic here in Atlanta. A new study shows that Americans spend an average of one week per year just sitting in traffic. That's nothing. I spend about 48 weeks every year talking to people sitting in traffic. A study says that our eyes automatically focus on good-looking people. No wonder people keep bumping into me at the mall. They just don't see me standing there. Here is the text of PJ O'Rourke's Foreigners Around The World posted on a forum. Some white supremacist website has it available as a pdf download, but I'm not linking to that. Track 2008 Presidential candidates' popularity on the Internets. Senator Fred Thompson's website was most popular last week, followed by Barack Obama and Ron Paul. In honor of Talk Like A Pirate Day, tour the new updated Pirates of the Caribbean attraction with Johnny Depp. Oh, and Arrrrr! | ||||
