AHMADINEJAD ... THE AFTERMATH

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the dangerous president of Iran, was permitted to speak at Columbia University yesterday. I know a lot of people disagree, but I think that was a good thing. It was in a sense a celebration of our right to free speech, something they sure don't enjoy in Iran. Thankfully, this madman's speech was met with tens of thousands of protestors on the streets of New York. While rightfully criticized for the hypocrisy in inviting Ahmadinejad to speak while un-inviting the founder of The Minuteman Project, (and not allowing the ROTC on campus), Columbia's President Bollinger did ask him about his denial of the Holocaust.

President Bollinger made his opening remarks saying, "Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator." He then went on to criticize Ahmadinejad's denial of the Holocaust. Ahmadinejad responded that Bollinger's opening was "an insult to information and the knowledge of the audience here." Sure ... we're all buying that.

Ahmadinejad then went on to say that he wanted "more information" about the Holocaust. He also didn't approve of Israel using the Holocaust as "justification for the mistreatment of the Palestinians."

Between all of his dodgy answers, he also managed to throw in religious dogma and versus from the Quran.

Oh and let's not forget that he questioned the "official" version of September 11th and questioned whether al Qaeda was even responsible for the events.

When it came to terrorism, Ahmadinejad (shockingly) denied sponsoring terrorism and pointed the finger at the U.S. government. He says, "Within six months, over 4,000 Iranians lost their lives, assassinated by terrorist groups. All this carried out by the hand of one single terrorist group. Regretfully, that same terrorist group now, today, in your country, is operating under the support of the U.S. administration ..."

He also pointed out, "In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country." This comment was met ... with laughter.

Well ... let's see what he has to say in front of the United Nations when he gets his chance to speak there.

BOORTZ "TAKING IT TO THE STREETS"

IMMIGRATION 'DIVERSITY'

Tens of thousands of immigrants have come to the United States via the Diversity Visa Program ... from nations that sponsor terrorism. The catch is that immigrants that are granted citizenship through this "diversity" program experience few restrictions.

Are you seeing where I am going with this? The U.S. Government of Accountability Office warned that this program poses a significant risk to national security ... and yet it continues to exist. It has been in existence since 1990.

For the past 6 years, the program allowed 3,703 people from Sudan, 3,164 from Iran, 2,763 from Cuba and 162 from Syria to enter the United States and apply to be a permanent legal resident.

All of these people were able to become legal residents without having any family in the U.S. or employers petitioning on their behalf.

The Department of Homeland Security, terrorism experts AND federal law enforcement officials all believe that this program makes it too easy for terrorists to enter and remain in the U.S. It would seem that they have a point. This program, though, probably has the backing of some key politicians, and so it survives. Besides .. .it promotes diversity! As you know, in the politically correct United States, anything that promotes diversity is, by definition, holy, sacrosanct, and beyond challenge or criticism.

It's all about group identity .. not the individual.

BUSH'S BUDGET

Bush is threatening to veto the 2008 budget, if Congress can't cut more than $22 billion. Congress is already going to miss its October 1st deadline. But don't worry ... you'll still get your Social Security checks thanks to stopgap legislation, allowing the government to continue operating at current spending levels.

The 12 spending bills amount to $933 billion - as proposed by the president - and the democrats want to add $22 billion more. Democrats argue that $22 billion is just a "small difference." It's only 2.4% of the domestic spending budget and less than 1% of the total federal budget ... that, folks, is really their excuse. That $22 billion is just a "small difference."

The federal budget has double in the last decade, and these Democrats can't resist another growth spurt? But ... remember this, the Republicans acted the same exact way when they controlled the budget process. That's why the Democrats are in control right now.

Bush warns that "sneaking in all kinds of special projects" is unacceptable. Particularly because Congress is unwilling to debate these "projects" openly.

OUT TO DRY

A woman in Bend, Oregon is facing legal action because she hung her laundry out to dry. But why was she hanging her laundry?? Because she was trying to save energy and do her part to combat global warming.

Susan Taylor lives in an upscale neighborhood in Oregon. She was "trying to do the right thing" by hanging her clothes to dry, but it turns out that this is a violation of neighborhood rules.

While the neighborhood is trying to "keep up appearances," Taylor may become the newest martyr for the "right-to-dry" movement."

Homeowner's associations ... gotta love 'em.

Alaskan politics seems to be filled with pork and corruption. They've managed to muster up $984.85 per Alaskan resident in federal tax dollars, not to mention the infamous bridge to nowhere. Now their chief benefactors are looking down the barrel of corruption charges.

Amidst the Ahmadinejad firestorm, Barack Obama says that he would meet with the Iranian president if he were president of the U.S. That's something we're not going to have to concern ourselves with at this point.

The New York Times finally admits that giving MoveOn.org a discount for their "Betray Us" ad was wrong.

It would seem that You Tube is becoming a nifty little place to put commercials that you could never get aired on television. Like this one!

Unions strike again as UAW walked off the job yesterday, They're looking for job security ... the very same job security that is jeopardized by the cost of their health care benefits. The most expensive item that goes into any GM automobile is the cost of the health care benefits for union workers.

Democrats in the House, with the support of the labor unions, will be introducing a bill to protect worker and retiree wages and pension benefits in the case of corporate bankruptcy. You can bet that this is going to cost taxpayers a bunch of money ... and it's going to chase some corporations right out of this country.

The Colorado State University newspaper ran an editorial "Taser this. F**k Bush." Despite criticism, the editor of the paper refuses to resign. Well ... that's understandable, I guess. Remember, these are college students. They're at that magic time of their life when they know everything.

A professor at an Iowa community college says that he was fired for calling the story of Adam and Eve a "fairy tale." Hey, I've lost radio stations over the same thing. Like that one in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Gordon Brown reaffirmed Britain's commitment to the U.S. in the fight against global terrorism. But he says that military force won't be enough.

Britain's National Health Service disclosed confidential documents under the Freedom of Information Act. Needless to say, this is the future of our government-run healthcare.

The Heritage Foundation tells us why the House and Senate deserve praise for voting to withhold funds from the U.N. Human Rights Council. They would get more praise if they passed a resolution calling for the U.N. to pack up and leave.

Crimes in South Africa are now being blamed on ... apes? Apparently they have been raiding people's home for food and causing costly damage.

I'd better stop right here.
