West Virginia Democrat Senator Jay Rockefeller was being interviewed the editorial board of the Charleston Gazette. During that interview he uttered this gem:
First of all ... I rather seriously doubt that our military was using laser-guided bombs during the Vietnam War. Also, the aircraft that McCain was flying in Vietnam was not to drop bombs from 35,000 feet. It would seem that Senator Rockefeller has a rather limited understanding of our military's mission, tactics or capabilities ... but that's beside the point. The real point here is what we witnessed is just another in a long string of statements and actions that vividly illustrate the disdain (if not outright hatred) that so many Democrats feel toward our military. There's Hillary using the Marine Corps to serve canapes at White House functions - then scrambling to get on the Senate Armed Forces Committee as soon as she's sworn in. Why? To mend fences - to show how much she loves our men and women in uniform. Then there's that sap John Kerry and his false stories about our men in Vietnam. Do you remember the words? He said that U.S. forces in Vietnam were guilty of systematic war crimes, including rape, murder, mutilation and pillage with the full knowledge and complicity of their entire chain of command. Some Naval aviators felt that Kerry's actions in leading protests on his return the U.S. resulted in extended stays in North Vietnamese prisons. Then there's Jack Murtha talking about U.S. Marines killing innocent civilians in Iraq "in cold blood." Those marines were later exonerated. There's a reason why the vast majority of people serving in our military vote Republican. These people understand who is on their side and who is not. They understand that Democrats hold them in near-contempt. They understand that Democrats would much rather spend money on vote-buying programs than on beefing up our military. Do you folks remember the aftermath of the 2000 election in Florida? Do you remember that the Democrat Party sent hoards of Democrats to Florida during the recount imbroglio with orders to do whatever they could do to make sure that military absentee ballots were not counted? How's that for respect for our military ... engaging in an overt effort to disqualify military votes in an election? Remember ... if the networks hadn't called the election for Bush in 2000 one hour before the polls closed in the military-rich Florida panhandle there would never have been a recount fight. The estimates are that Bush lost 13,000 votes there when military voters went home thinking that the contest was in the bag. So ... Jay Rockefeller later apologizes. BS. He's only apologizing because the story became radioactive. He's doing what he has to do to calm the storm. We heard what Rockefeller really thought when he was talking to that editorial board.
American Airlines is having a bit of a problem as a good portion of their fleet is grounded while some wiring problems are corrected. And why are these wiring problems being corrected? For safety, of course. So the Fox News Channel cameras head to an airport to get the reaction of some of the passengers who were inconvenienced by the delays. In short order they stumble onto some bleached blond who says: "They're not thinking about us at all ... the passengers. I'm never going to fly American again." Hey, you twit .. .these delays are for safety. Your safety. It is precisely you they are thinking about when they inspect these airplanes. Next time take the damned bus. We currently stand on the edge of a very large tax increase if Congress fails to continue the Bush tax cuts. If these tax cuts expire, the personal income tax burden will be driven up by 25% ... that will be its highest point relative to GDP in history. It will be the largest increase in personal taxes since WWII, and it would be twice as large as Lyndon Johnson's attempt to fight the war of poverty and finance the war in Vietnam. And it would be more than twice the combined personal income tax increases under George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton So Hillary and Obama and other Democrats will tell you that these tax cuts on the evil rich must expire in order to balance the budget and finance the retirement and health-care promises made to the baby-boom generation. "But a tax increase is neither wise nor necessary," according to the authors. The economic damage caused by tax increases will prevent promised revenues from being realized ... and higher revenues will encourage Congress to continue its wasteful spending. In other words, even if the Congress has more money to balance the budget, it won't do it because it is so caught up in pork-barrel spending. A big screaming amen to that. So if we let things continue at the current rate, the federal budget deficit will increase this year because of the economic slowdown. But ... and here's the big "but" that many Democrats don't understand ... "as the economy enters a recovery phase, raising taxes would choke off the recovery. The right policy, for both the economy and the budget, would be to make current tax rates permanent well before the scheduled increase. Giving investors greater certainty that current tax rates will be maintained will spur investment and aid the economic recovery, as it did in 2003. Federal budget balance will be achieved once the economy is again operating on all its cylinders." The European Union has determined that it is OK to use cell phones on commercial airliners. A few points.
Text messaging ... OK. Voices, no.
From there, Melanie's sign was passed around in the cafeteria and it apparently upset a group of Latino students (no telling how many were illegals or child of illegal immigrants). She said one of the students later jumped on her back and put her in a choke hold. He slammed her face on the brick wall. She also said the group of boys threatened to rape and kill her because of her sign. Eventually the boys let her go and Melanie went to get help. Instead, she was ordered back to class and told by a government school teacher that she could not call her parents. Melanie's father says that he won't be happy until these kids are out of school. I have an even better idea ... why doesn't Melanie's father take her and put her in a private school, where I can guarantee a higher level of respect and a better education for their daughter. Government schools. Have you delivered your child into the hands of government today? Do you feel good about that? Now this story takes place in Great Britain, folks. But it is just an example of what is to come in the United States if we continue to give in to Muslim demands and sensitivities. Muslim sex offenders in Great Britain could be spared a prison treatment program because it is against their religion. In UK prisons, rapists, pedophiles and other dangerous sex attackers are required to undergo a Sex Offender Treatment Program group therapy to discuss their crimes with others during jail sessions that are designed to stop them from offending again. But Muslim inmates are complaining that they should not have to attend these sessions because Islam believes that criminals should not discuss their crimes with other people. Give me a big-time crusader break, would you? Naturally, this all stems back to Britain's willingness to appease in the name of diversity. A Prison Service spokesman said, 'We are currently seeking to ensure that the policy for the Sex Offender Treatment Program is sensitive to the diversity of religions within the prison context." Do you think the offenders were equally as sensitive to the diversity of their victims? Imagine that your city bans you from watering you lawn, washing your car, and urgently asks you to conserve water. You do what you are told. You are a good little citizen who was doing your part to conserve water during a drought. Then your city council realizes that you did too good of a job conserving water, and now the government is going to lose millions of dollars in revenue. What's the solution ... raise the price on water! Well that's exactly what's happening in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte City Council approved a steep increase in water and sewer rates ... more than double the normal annual increase ... in order to make up for lower water sales, which stem from the fact that the government told people to stop watering their lawns. The council members who voted for the bill said they had little choice, and then they blamed it on the utility department, saying that is should have warned them earlier of a revenue crisis. Essentially, this increase equals more than a 7% city property tax hike on a home of about $200,000. The higher rates will compensate for an expected $50 million shortfall through the end of the 2009 fiscal year. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Some people go to the gym every day to get 6-pack abs. Others.... President Bush isn't too keen on the housing bill, which will provide billions of dollars to tackle the nation's housing market crisis. Remember folks .. this whole thing was caused by liberals demanding that the mortgage companies do more to put lower income people into homes. General Petraeus updated Congress on the situation in Iraq yesterday. Here are some highlights of his testimony. Nancy Pelosi wants to decrease the number of superdelegates to make the process of nominating a candidate more democratic. The odds are officially against Hillary. Traders are now betting that Barack Obama will be the Democrat nominee. Students at a Michelle Obama event in Pennsylvania were upset when organizers asked students to move their seats so that "more white people" could sit behind Michelle while she was speaking. I know many of you will be upset to hear that since Oprah endorsed Barack Obama for president, her popularity has plummeted. You mean it has taken all of this time for people to finally realize that Hillary is not trustworthy? That's just the half of it, folks. Where have you been? Will Barack Obama also bend to the request of his union supporters to be forthcoming about the meeting held with Canadian officials about trade? So ABC News goes over to Iraq and finds a few soldiers that support Barack Obama for president ... suddenly this means the US troops endorse Obama? The UN has chosen a real winner to be the next investigator into Israeli conduct ... a man that compared Israel's actions in Gaza to the Nazis. A well-known Colorado State University hurricane forecaster says that we are brainwashing our children about global warming. The latest victim of global warming ... beer. Mayor Bloomberg wants to install solar panels on city-owned buildings in all five boroughs including Manhattan. You'll be happy to hear that the proposal to charge drivers who want to drive into Manhattan failed ... much to the dismay of global warmers around the world. A 2-year-old girl died after she was beaten by her mother's boyfriend with a video game controller. This is real classy folks. Former homeowners who are being kicking out of their houses because they can't pay the mortgages think they are getting revenge by destroying the homes before they leave. And these are the people we want bail out with our tax dollars? A lawmaker in Louisiana wants to castrate certain second-offense sex criminals. Students in some government schools in Maine may be required to perform at least 40 hours of community service before they can graduate. Doesn't that come under the definition of involuntary servitude? Another girl fight ... although this one doesn't seem to involve YouTube. But it does involve underage drinking. Hey, do you think this company should rethink the name of their toothpaste? Read the commencement speech Neal has never delivered to a graduating class. Or, listen to Neal deliver it here. | ||
