| Thursday, August 14, 2008 It happened yesterday at the Gallery Row Coffee Shop in Peachtree City, Georgia. Three FairTax opponents, including Georgia Libertarian Senate candidate Allen Buckley and Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Jay Bookman; and three FairTax supporters, including Congressman John Linder, Mark Darrow and myself gathered around a table to hash over the FairTax. What made this a bit unusual was that CNN was there with three cameras and all the lights and stuff to record the whole thing. Sometime over the weekend much of this conversation will be included in a CNN program about the FairTax. The entire discussion will also be available online. Stay tuned to this web page for the details and links. By the way .. and it pains me to say this .. but Jay Bookman was cordial and seemed like a nice guy! I'll submit to my beating later.
So what is really going on here? Wealth envy. Class warfare. The Democrats already know that they have secured the "poor" vote. They own them, they pay for them, they take care of them, and the poor, poor pitiful poor (who would be middle class or wealthy anywhere else) do what they're supposed to do: support their captors. So what's next? The middle class. And why the middle class? Because years of hammering the evil, noxious, rancid, putrid, ugly "richest 1%" is paying dividends for Democrats. Much of the middle class feels that if it were not for the "richest 1%" not paying their "fair share" of taxes life would be so much easier. It's really easy: you just say that the middle class deserves more and it's the evil rich that are standing in their way. Democrats like the big BO will tell you that the rich have more money than they need! Our middle class voter starts thinking "How dare them? How dare these evil slobs have more money than they need when I don't have enough! This is an outrage! I want this straightened out! I want the government to do something about this! Ripe fodder for vote buying. Here's some hard hitting journalism from an ABC News blogger. The big concern on this guys mind is the fact that an anti-Obama web video shows four white women. Yep. How horrible! How racist can John McCain get? Seriously, folks. Why is the media so steeped in this politically correct, racism nonsense? If you watch the video, it is clearly a depiction of Obama's rock star cult following ... but the media can't stand their Messiah being idolized by white women because that's ... racist? Give me a break. Just put Obama in the White House and be prepared for four (not more) years of this nonsense.
Thank gawd this YouTube video turns out to be a parody. However, it's really hard to tell because these teenagers are so spot on. Here's a quote to let you know what you are getting yourself into: "They're like, so for Obama and like, if you're not you're like so racist." Yep, these are the voters that are going to decide the future of this country. Looks like the Obama campaign has ruffled some of its awe inspired groupies. Obama supporters hoping to score a seat at the Democrat National Convention to hear the Big O speak have now been told that they will have to volunteer to work for his campaign. They have to put in at least six hours of volunteer work for the Obama campaign by this Friday in order to be eligible for tickets. Now for some insight into what it means to be a Democrat ... here's Heather Kreider who is a working mother, "My whole reason why I'm so mad about it is because Democrats need to act like Democrats ... Democrats work for a living, and they have to work and take care of their families. And they say these are open to those in the community, so they shouldn't ask people to drop everything in their lives for this." And there you have it. To be a Democrat and act like a Democrat you must work for a living. Whew, glad we cleared that one up. Now where are all of those evil rich Republicans who aren't working for a living ....
Outrageous as it is ... it gets even worse when you put this into context. At the same time the City's Cultural Affairs Department cooked up this little plan, the city wanted to cut funding for its own libraries and charge extra fees for borrowing from different library branches. Thanks to a contingent of citizens, the library funding was saved. But the message is clear ... Oh, and nice logo. I guess the "great nation" they are referring to isn't ours. NEWS/TALK 750 WSB CARE-A-THON AUCTION: 2009 CORVETTE AUCTION
The 8th annual News/Talk 750 WSB Care-A-Thon benefiting the Aflac Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is coming up August 21-22, 2008. The great folks at Jim Ellis Chevrolet as been gracious enough to give us their first 2009 Corvette ZR1 to auction off for the Care-A-Thon. Bidding is now open and will be open until the final day of the Care-A-Thon on August 22, 2008. READING ASSIGNMENTS How about a little fun with a letter to the editor. This guy is wondering how much the oil companies are paying me. What's worse, nobody seems ready to respond to him with a comment. How sad. Maybe you can help him out. President Bush has sent US soldiers to provide humanitarian aid in Georgia. Here's Newt Gingrich with an update on our energy crisis. Where do Nancy Pelosi's interests (and wallet) lie when it comes to energy ... wind power. Looks like she's pulling in some pretty good bucks. The latest horror to strike the Democrat National Convention ... not enough limousines. One town in Arkansas that has been riddled in random shootings and drug-related violence has practically declared martial law to get everything under control. Does anybody really care that the singer chosen to record the campaign theme song for Barack Obama isn't American? Maybe there's a connection with that cute little Chinese girl. The US Supreme Court has been asked to consider a case on whether a fifth grade art project using candy canes is "offensive." A federal judge has decided that the University of California has the right to deny course credit to applicants from Christian high schools that use text books rejecting evolution. Congratulations to the state of Colorado for officially unionizing many of its state workers! (Even though only one-quarter of eligible state employees voted to be unionized.) That's nothing compared to what Obama has in store for us. Baltimore has decided that it is important to educate inner city residents on the dangers of consuming too much salt. Government officials in New York City are really concerned about large stores that keep their doors open while running their air conditioners. They will now receive fines if caught. Let's see how good you are ... 44% of college students in Florida have discovered _____ _____ to be the newest form of financial aid. One Chicago town is outraged that a government officials sent an email stating America should follow the sentiments of former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, who said Muslims who want to live under Sharia law should get out of the country. Many people have their boxers in a bunch over this answering machine message from the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Montrose, Pa: "Hello, this is Montrose VFW. We are an English speaking, American establishment. If you do not speak English or believe in America, please hang up." A flatbelly was kicked out of a mall in Kentucky because a security guard deemed her dress too short and she was causing a distraction. A man in Houston has been charged for illegally taking photographs of two topless women who were swimming in a lake. Why is there an obesity problem in the U.S.? I dunno, let's start with this. | ||
