| Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Just how does The Chosen One feel about the 2nd Amendment? After the Supreme Court ruled on the DC gun ban Obama was somewhat trapped. His previous position in favor of the ban was inoperative, so he had to come up with a new position. So ... what would that be? The Big BO's position on guns is that nobody in this country should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon unless they are retired law enforcement officers or members of the U.S. military. We could phrase this another way: Nobody can carry a concealed weapon unless they work for the government as a member of the U.S. military or civilian law enforcement, or used to work for the government as a police officer. This is Obama, folks. Privileges for government and those who work for government ... but for the common man, not so much. Ahhhhh .... But he's so suave, so debonair, and he speaks so well! It doesn't really matter what he says, but he sure says it good!
There is a little brouhaha going on in Minneapolis. The Union of Concerned Scientists, which describes itself as "citizens and scientists for environmental solutions," put up an ad in the Northwest Airlines concourse of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The ad showed a picture of downtown Minneapolis and said, "When only one nuclear bomb could destroy a city like Minneapolis ... We don't need 6,000." Now Northwest Airlines officials have ordered that the ad be removed from the concourse. Here are a few things to keep in mind. First, Northwest is the official airline of the Republican National Convention, which will be held in St. Paul in the coming weeks. The other thing to consider is that Northwest, by contract, controls the advertising of this particular concourse in the airport. It appears that Northwest said that customers and employees complained about
the ad. That's when Northwest regional director Kathleen Nelson asks for the ad
to be removed stating, "I just took a look and I can see how this would be
offensive/scary to some (the concept of our city in the crosshairs of a nuclear
bomb) and the strong anti-McCain message. Can we remove it?"
What's amazing to me is that talk of this Saddleback forum has yet to subside. People are still talking about it, and the Obama campaign is still grumbling about John McCain cheating. What's funny is that a majority of Americans wouldn't have even heard about Saddleback, much less cared, if it wasn't for the Barack Obama campaign. If the Obama coneheads had just left it alone and stopped its whining about John McCain cheating because he wasn't in this "cone of silence," Obama could have slipped this one under the radar. Instead, many are now realizing that their chosen one may not be a stud without his teleprompter. This point came from a listener ... and I'll repeat it below:
We won't get into too much detail because we don't know for sure whether Biden would be Obama's choice, but just to give you an idea of who is at the top of Obama's list ... here are a few things to remember about Joseph Biden. Let's start with a few classic Biden moments:
Ok so let's be honest ... these aren't the real reasons that Joe Biden would be a lousy (or good, depending on your politics) choice for a Vice President. So the guy says what's on his mind, politically correct or not. The real reasons that you don't want people like Joe Biden in the White House is because he has three priorities as a politician: Ending the war in Iraq, universal healthcare, and building up government schools. Not to mention that he also believes in this global warming scam. What Biden ads to Obama's ticket is experience, particularly on foreign policy. He is, after all, the head of the Foreign Relations Committee. But what Obama doesn't need is someone that emphasizes his own inexperience. Biden himself has said that the White House isn't the place where you learn on the job ... the very criticism that many have of Barack Obama. Take a look at a Biden campaign commercial from 1988. Or maybe this is all just a distraction to keep us occupied. Frankly, I'm still occupied quite enough, than you, thinking about The Chosen One's affinity for Marxism. Portland, Oregon spent $200,000 of taxpayer money to establish one of those day labor centers. So along comes a man by the name of Tom Wenning who sits in front of it with a sign saying "no." Seems like free speech, doesn't it? Well, he was blocking the entrance. Anyway, he has now been convicted of disorderly conduct and fined $500. In a court appearance Wenning tried to use the "choice of evils" defense, saying that blocking the entrance to the site was less "evil" than the taxpayers subsidizing a day labor center that helps illegal aliens get jobs. (Uh oh ... should I have said "undocumented immigrants?") Wenning said, "At least 75 percent of those people in there are illegal aliens ... They are not entitled to work in this country. You're not allowed to hire them to work for you, and it's illegal to aid and abet their hiring in this country, and that's exactly what's going on there." But the judge said the defense only holds water in life or death situations. The judge also said that Wenning has no evidence of what is going on at the day labor center, "whether or not they were filling out their paperwork, whether or not those people going through the door were legal or illegal ... You don't know that. You're speculating on that. You're putting your judgment over everybody else's, and, frankly, that's not fair." Sounds like a rather accurate judgment to me. Problem solved. Get me a beer.
I have never seen a woman who's appearance was enhanced by a tattoo or a piercing. I guess you could be ugly enough where a tattoo would help .. .but I haven't seen that yet. Airports should allow oncologists and funeral homes to place advertising in their smoker's aquariums. How in the world does a tropical storm strengthen over LAND? Must be global warming, right? Did you see that video of the idiot trying to kite surf in Ft. Lauderdale in 60+ winds? Darwin at work. He's now in the hospital in critical condition. A listener got it right. Why do liberals think that McCain cheated at the Saddleback forum? Because they think that any non-liberal who succeeds does so by cheating. It's part of their mantra. The Georgia "bigfoot" turned out to be a hoax ... a frozen monkey suit. The cop who brought us this hoax has been fired. Now THAT'S funny. Look ... if you want to do a hoax, do it right. Like my Georgia Cat Chasing Championships. This was a prime example of weak. NEWS/TALK 750 WSB CARE-A-THON AUCTION: 2009 CORVETTE AUCTION
The 8th annual News/Talk 750 WSB Care-A-Thon benefiting the Aflac Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is coming up August 21-22, 2008. The great folks at Jim Ellis Chevrolet as been gracious enough to give us their first 2009 Corvette ZR1 to auction off for the Care-A-Thon. Bidding is now open and will be open until the final day of the Care-A-Thon on August 22, 2008. Or just make a donation to Care-A-Thon here. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK There are deerstands...and then there are luxury deer stands. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS If Belinda had a dog...it might go a little something like this. The date is set. John McCain will announce his running mate on August 29th, the day after Barack Obama is anointed. The Democrat National Committee thought it would be real cute to send the McCain campaign an "Exxon-McCain '08″ campaign kit with oil barrel-shaped stress balls. Keeping in the spirit, John McCain visited an oil rig yesterday and urged for Congress to increase off shore drilling. Jimmy Carter will be one of the speakers at the Democrat National Convention. Barack Obama wants John McCain to acknowledge that Obama is, in fact, patriotic. Here's yet another look at the do-nothing 110th Congress, which passed bills celebrating watermelons rather than vote on an energy policy. The Detroit City Council tried to remove Kwame Kilpatrick from office by a trial-like hearing ... until a judge decided that they didn't have the power to do so. This is an interesting look at the changes in media credibility throughout the years. Seattle mayor urges people to give up their cars and start walking. The inevitable consequence? People start complaining about the poor condition of sidewalks. Our government's war on drugs really seems to be hitting home with our nation's teenagers. Or not. More news on the lardassification of America ... do you know which state holds the title of most obese? This must have been one helluva Boy Scout trip ... Apparently yesterday was National Aviation Day. Who knew? And now for the most important news story of the day ... Bigfoot turned out to be nothing but a Halloween costume. I think the first sentence of this article says it all: A man being suspended in the air by six metal hooks clamped to his skin during an act at a tattoo convention fell and broke a leg. Today's timewaster...guess the accent game! How well did you do? | ||
