Yesterday the Democrats had another debate, and here is what some educated New Hampshire voters had to say about Hillary's performance. It seems like this group isn't too thrilled with her forceful and combative tone when trying to explain why she can change the United States. This must be the Hillary we have all come to know and love ... and now the voters are seeing it too. The quicker the voters see Hillary Clinton for what she truly is, the quicker she'll be out of this campaign and we can heave a sign of relief. If these New Hampshire voters really knew what she thought about them ..... well, I just don't want to think about it. Keep an eye on Hillary. Maybe she'll blow! Hillary feels that she has done all that she should to earn the nomination, and she must be stunned by the voter's rejection. This is a woman who is famous for losing her temper. When she was in the White House with her husband the air was frequently peppered with her "f***s" and "s***s." When she sees her chances slipping away for good maybe she'll treat us to a good lamp throwing demonstration.
Early this morning I went to the lobby of the hotel ... dressed like a homeless man ... searching out a cup of coffee. MSNBC was broadcasting their morning show from the lobby. As I stood there I listened to them discussing the FairTax. Naturally, they were getting it all wrong. The frustration was immense. I wanted to blurt you "You have no clue what you're talking about," but hotel security would have had me out in the snow in a heartbeat. I went back to the room and sulked. I'm surrounded by television programs here. I could give them an incredible segment on the FairTax. I should be downstairs right now with that Fox & Friends crew telling the truth about the FairTax. No takers. So, who do I get to discuss it with? That would be the lady who brought me my oatmeal and toast. Well, at least she says she's going to read the book. I gave her a copy. (and a tip) Yesterday on the AirTran flight from Atlanta to Boston I was treated to a New York Times article by one Tom Redburn. Maybe that was Redburn I heard yammering in the lobby this morning, because he, too, has no clue. Check out this excerpt from Redburn's article:
Arrggggghhhhhhhhh! As you read this there is a truck driver hauling a load of soup across on a desolate Interstate in Kansas. On the back of his truck he has written "fairtax.org" in the grime on his tailgate. This truck driver knows know about the FairTax than did those people in the lobby this morning or the fancy New York Times reporter.
Someone get me a venue tonight in Manchester! Get a few hundred people in there! Let me tell them what this is really all about! Damn, this is just killing me! Can you tell? Tom Redburn made several mistakes in his article. First ... nowhere ... not in one sentence ... did Redburn make one comment about the concept of imbedded taxes. He didn't even drop a hint. There are several core principles of the FairTax, and one of them is that the new national retail sales tax will replace the federal taxes that are already embedded in the price of everything we buy. We didn't make the embedded taxes up. The study was done by Harvard economists. I thought the left loved Harvard. These economists determined that, on the average, 22 percent of the cost of everything we buy represents the total embedded tax burden of every person or company responsible for bringing that product to the marketplace. Those taxes disappear under the FairTax, and when they disappear competitive marketplace pressures will drive that tax component out of the price. Then along comes the 23 percent FairTax to replace it. Result? The item costs pretty much the same. Now any reporter who wanted to do any research at all would be able to figure this out ... yet Redburn makes absolutely no mention at all of embedded taxes in his article. Why? Sloppy reporting? Or an agenda? This is a concept that hundreds of thousands of waiters and waitresses, truck drivers, construction workers, electricians, retail and service workers, farmers, hotel housekeepers and yes, even accountants understand .. but a New York Times reporter can't? There are over 70 sponsors of H.R. 25, the FairTax Act, in the congress. Does Redburn want us to believe that these sponsors would actually put their name on a piece of legislation that would add 30 percent to the price of everything we buy? Oh ... and about that 30 percent crap. (I used to call it nonsense ... but it's been around so long now it's just crap). Under the FairTax when you walk into the store to buy a $100 toaster, the price tag will say "$100." When you get to the cash register you will pay $100. No more, no less. On your receipt you will see that $23 of the purchase price went to the government as the FairTax. The rest is retained by the retailer. Now I know we have a problem with government schools in this country, but even so, most people can figure out that $23 is 23 percent of $100. With every day that passes, and with every negative article I read, I come to believe more strongly that what we're dealing with here is "reporters" who are really activists. They have an agenda, and that agenda is to work to maintain the current tax status quo. They're not attempting to honestly report on the FairTax, they're trying to sabotage it. We have an incredible tax reform plan here that can grow out economy, transfer massive amounts of power from the government to the people, and make the United States the world's tax haven for business and industry ... and people like Redburn and others are doing everything they can, either out of ignorance or design, to destroy it.
There is one amazing chapter in the book that you are going to particularly love. This chapter asks you to imagine that you were born a few years after the FairTax went into effect. We explain in detail how your life has been under the FairTax: No withholding - getting 100 percent of your paycheck - no tax planning - no tax forms - no audits - an April 15th is just another Spring day. Then along comes this politician with an idea for tax reform. He wants to get rid of the FairTax and replace it with the income and withholding tax scheme we, in reality, have today! This chapter tries to imagine your shock as the politician spills out his plan and asks for your support. That one chapter is so good it's worth the price of the book alone. This chapter is so good I would like to toy with the idea of producing a video dramatizing the scenario. Any suggestions on how I would go about this? As self-serving as this may sound, one way to get the truth out there about the FairTax, and to bring hundreds of thousands of more supporters into the fold, would be for this book to debut high on the New York Times bestseller's list. You can help by going to Amazon.com and ordering a copy .. or multiple copies right now. Only $8.97 on Amazon ... not all that much. Barnes & Noble doesn't have the book up on their website yet. When they do, we'll include the link. If you don't like ordering on line ... then just make sure you buy the book during the first week of its release. This is just another example of the absurdness of American politics. Hillary and Obama are arguing with one another about who is a better agent for change. "Change" seems to be one of the magic words in this campaign. Fine ... but change to what? Sure, Hillary wants change .. but should we be talking a bit more about what she wants to change to? Hillary wants to change from a market-based economy to a government-controlled economy. Hillary wants to change from an individualist culture to a collectivist culture. Hillary wants to change from local governance to federal. There's your "change." How does the word sound now? Great dinner last night in Manchester at the Strange Brew Tavern. Ed Schultz and his bride accompanied us .. and Belinda picked up the check! What a girl! On the way back we walked down the main drag and encountered a rather happy and boisterous group of Ron Paul supporters. The Paulistas will chant just about anything. As we walked by they started chanting "Somebody push the button. Somebody push the button." We inquired and were told that they were just trying to get someone to push the button for the traffic signal so they could cross the road. Another high point ... someone walked up to us and started lecturing us on the difference between the Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee ideas for tax reform. Needless to say it was rather interesting standing there on this Manchester street listening to this guy explain the FairTax to me.
So the department of Fish and Wildlife Service is going to decide whether or not polar bears are endangered or threatened ... and then the department of Minerals Management Services wants to explore 30 million acres of polar bear territory off the Alaskan coast. Guess all that red tape made it difficult for two offices within the same department to communicate with one another. But, that's government for you! Interestingly enough, Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin does not favor listing polar bears as endangered ... and this is in her own state! She points to the obvious statistic that there are more polar bears today than there were 40 years ago. Thousands more. And when it comes to the oil, it's no surprise that "conservationists" sued the Minerals Management Service for approving similar oil and gas exploration in a different part of Alaska last year. The conservationists argued that the decision was made without "fully analyzing the potential environmental impact." Because just remember, there may be 3 endangered species of newt or mussel that could go extinct. What a loss. Remember .. the true goal of many of these so-called "environmentalists" is to slow down the American economy, not to protect the environment. Many of them are old, tired communists and socialists still nursing hurt feelings over the collapse of the Soviet Union and their dream of one world under communism.
In Fairbanks, Alaska a couple watched their home burn to the ground. Yes, the firefighters did come to the scene ... but they promptly turned around and left. Why would firefighters not respond to a house fire? Because the couple's home was 180 feet outside of the firefighter's jurisdiction. The Steese Area Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call within two minutes. The couple saw the fire truck approach, but then it turned off its lights and headed back to the station after realizing that the house was outside the service area. But then it gets even better. The Deputy chief Mike Holzmueller explains that this is simply the policy: no volunteer departments are to respond to fires outside their range ... because the people don't pay taxes for the service. Yes, you just read that correctly. Taxes. The fire department says that it won't save people's burning homes because of taxes ... you have got to be freaking kidding me. Any good Samaritan or person who had two nuts of common sense would feel that if you had the means to help someone, you would. But instead, these volunteers are told to act against their common sense because of our asinine obsession with taxes. There must not be a large illegal immigrant population in Alaska. Because if there was, then Alaskan bureaucrats would experience real frustration when they saw their tax money paying for medical benefits and welfare and food stamps for people who aren't even legally in this country. Officials in the EU have decided that cultural tolerance is not enough. Instead, Europeans need to create an "inter-cultural society" where interaction across cultural boundaries is considered normal. First thought that comes to mind ... I'm sure the radical Muslims of Europe are really excited to embrace the traditions of other cultures, particularly Western culture. After all, Islam is the religion that demands death to a woman who names a teddy bear Mohammad. Or believes that women who work are cheating on their husbands. Or that women who disobey their husbands should be beaten. This is a culture that utterly despises anything that Western culture stands for. But wait, I almost forgot ... I'm sure the Europeans will not want to offend the Muslims of their countries ... so this exercise must be for all of those "other" cultures that will be expected to embrace the peaceful, serene religion of Islam. The EU's Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Youth says, "We want to go beyond multi-cultural societies, where cultures and cultural groups simply coexist side by side: mere tolerance is not enough anymore." So now they are launching the European Year of Inter-cultural Dialogue for 2008. So far they have set up seven cross-border projects including artistic shows, discussions on hip-hop culture, video workshops for kids, radio broadcasts on migration in European history, storytellers, and musicians. Countries will be expected to participate in their own version of national programs. Candy ass Euro-weenies. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK If you can see this sign, you might already be in danger. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Dick Morris has his latest assessment of the Democrats and Republicans leading up to the New Hampshire primary. Mark Steyn gives his two cents on the results of the Iowa caucus. Mitt Romney won the Wyoming caucuses this weekend ... ok, not that we got that out of the way. The government of Great Britain is inviting Muslim women to attend assertiveness training courses to counter radical Islamists. Let us know how that works out for you. Al Qaeda video messages of Osama bin Laden can now be downloaded straight to your cell phone! There are parts of Britain that are being labeled "no-go" areas because it is too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter. Coming soon across the pond? UNICEF wants to spend over $5 million to "support the needs of children and women" in Kenya. George McGovern wants to impeach George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. George McGovern is one of the biggest losers in the history of American politics. Here's rational Canadian who understands the implications of the Kyoto protocol and doesn't buy into the mass hysteria of OwlGore's warming crowd. Speaking of global warming ... frozen iguanas are falling from trees in South Florida because of the cold. Al Sharpton has found a new cause to support ... a man that shot and killed a white teenager and was solely convicted "because he is black." Today, the Supreme Court is hearing a case on the Constitutionality of lethal injection. The Oxford Economics consultancy says that standard of living in Great Britain is set to rise above America's for the first time since the 19th century. A woman who was hit in the head with a golf ball is now suing the course for $1million, claiming that the 16th and 17th holes are "poorly designed." When the Port of Seattle wanted to construct a 3rd runway, it was required by law to spend 1% of its budget on "art." An inmate was able to escape from jail not only once but twice. Now the inmate is filing a federal lawsuit because the guards "didn't do enough to stop him from breaking out." In Colombia, they have opened up a museum of laziness. The world is now a better place with Tom Cruise being the #2 in command of the Church of Scientology ... or so one author says. Speaking of the Paulistas, this comic pretty much sums them up, doesn't it? | ||
