| SEVEN-ELEVEN. OUGHT TO BE A LUCKY DAY!
Just a few points: Yes, there are some areas that have been opened to exploration, and yes, the oil companies have yet to pull any oil out of them. But there are some explanations. One, they've found no oil there to extract. Two, if there is oil there the depths involved and other logistical problems make extraction either impossible or far too expensive. The point here is that there are other areas where oil can be extracted economically .. and those are the areas shut down by Democrats. Of course, according to Nancy Pelosi, the real problem is the Republicans. She says that efforts to expand drilling are "a decoy to punt your attention away from the fact that [Republican] policies have produced $4-a-gallon gasoline." Really? What policies are those Nancy? Tell me what policies the Republicans have supported that has caused our gas prices compared to Democrats. The truth of the matter is ... you're all failures. Here's what's going on. Democrats understand that there is a strong likelihood that oil prices will drop - perhaps a lot - if the United States announces that we're opening up ANWR, the Florida Gulf Coast, the outer continental shelf, the oil shale lands out west and other areas to oil exploration and recovery. OPEC countries would immediately put downward pressure on prices in hopes that they could derail or forestall the new American effort. Democrats also know that the voters in this country have this nasty tendency to blame - or credit - the party controlling the White House for good and bad economic news. Democrats won't do anything that might allow the Republicans to look good ... even if you have to pay five bucks a gallon for gas. Aren't you people just going to love it when Pelosi, Reid and Obama are running the whole show?
... for refusing to become a part of the solution. BP wants to expand on oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana. That would be a good thing, considering that a shortage of refineries is one of the many reasons why gas prices are so high. But one group of people out there is determined to see that this expansion never happens ... environmentalists. On Wednesday of this week, The Natural Resources Defense Council filed a lawsuit that challenges air permits granted to BP's refinery by the State of Indiana. Just keep these details in mind ... This investment by BP has the potential to increase gas and diesel output by 1.7 million gallons a day. It will also create 2,000 construction jobs and 80 new permanent jobs. This environmental group also says that the permits granted by Indiana "simply do not protect the public and do not live up to the law." Don't you love that phrase, "protect the public"? Do you remember the story earlier this week about Columbia? It seems that the "human rights" groups working down there were actually not promoting human rights at all. Instead they were working on behalf of the communist FARC rebels. And so it is with the "environmentalists." Their concern isn't the environment. Their concern is to slow and, if possible, cripple the American economy. They're anti-capitalist radicals, not people worried about our environment. Germany is actually considering extending voting rights to babies, toddlers, children and teenagers. Currently, the voting age in Germany is 18, with the exception of a few places where it is 16 ... can you imagine if we let 16-year-olds in this country vote? Anyway, the bill is said to wipe away decades of "exclusion" and "discrimination" against minors. These politicians are actually concerned that that people do not have the "right" to vote from cradle to grave. Imagine if this passes. It means that you, as a German citizen, would have the same voice as a child who can't even speak, or read or even go to the bathroom on its own. But they deserve just as much of a say as you do ... While I'm in London next week, I'm curious to find out more about Muslims in Great Britain. It is stories like this get my knickers in a knot. Just a few weeks ago, Britain released Abu Qatada from prison. He happens to be al Qaeda's ambassador in Europe and is considered one of the world's most dangerous terrorist suspects. But now he is wondering through the streets of London, buying Coca Cola and enjoying life ... all at the tax payers' expense. First of all, Qatada is allowed to stay in Great Britain rather than being shipped back home to Jordon because this would violate his human rights. So he is living in Great Britain with his wife and children in a home that costs over a million dollars. And the family receives over $100,000 in tax payer benefits each year, which are protected by court order. That is not including the tens of thousands of dollars the tax payers are paying to monitor and keep surveillance of this man. So here's the breakdown. Qatada receives about $300 a week in "incapacity benefits." His wife in entitled to child benefits, income support, housing and council tax credits which exceed $1,500 each week. The couple is also exempt from paying over $4,000 a year in taxes on their home ... this is picked up by the tax payers.
Is this really the most important thing happening in this woman's life? There is no other cause that she deemed important enough for her attention? Give me a break. A few days ago we brought you the story of a Texas county commissioner who had some racial chip on his shoulder when a co-worker used the phrase "black hole." Now, assumingly for attention, the man also claims that language such as "angel food cake" and "devil's food cake" are also racially insensitive. Give me another break. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK This is what happens when a redneck husband says he'll watch the kid for the evening. A little bit not safe for work. Proceed with caution. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS What will be the aftermath of Jesse Jackson's remarks about Barack Obama? Some think that this is going to help Obama gain voters. Nancy Pelosi is actually considering holding hearings on an impeachment resolution offered by Dennis Kucinich. Hey, it's an election year. The liberal bloggers have their boxers in a bunch again because yesterday Barack Obama voted in favor of expanding FISA. Yeah, but he voted to gut it before he voted for it. Kerry style. The moonbats out there will be upset to hear that General Petraeus got a promotion. John McCain's economic advisor got one this right: we are a nation of whiners. This article explains what it means for corporations to be "fair" ... Oh this outta be good. Which state in the United States is the "best" for having a business? Here are the rankings. I've pointed out that government schools are actually doing exactly what they are supposed to do ... but it looks like this mentality is trickling into American universities. The American Medical Association felt the need to issue a formal apology for more than a century of discriminatory policies that exclude blacks. Getting tiring, isn't it? A man in North Carolina is suing his local newspaper for cutting its staff. Scientists have been doing studies where they strap a plastic tank to the back of a cow in order to collect its gas ... all in the name of global warming. Only in America can a man go to church, fall down and then sue for $2.5 million because he was "so consumed by the spirit of God." After winning $65 million in the lottery, the man promptly lost his winning lotto ticket ... probably the best thing that could have happened to him. But don't worry. A year later, he finally has the money. This kid is the future of America. Scared yet? Hey, did you know there's a leprechaun in Mobile, Alabama? | ||
