HILLARYCARE AGAIN?

Now here's some news that ought to scare you. Some Democrats are suggesting that Barack Obama might throw a bone to Hillary to get her to pull out, and that the bone might be either a cabinet position or putting her in charge of his health care initiative.

Oh boy - that's just what we need. Hillarycare II. You do remember, don't you , that in 1993 Hillary proposed a health care plan under which you would not have been allowed to take your own money and hire your own doctor? Yup - do that under Hillarycare I and you could go to jail. We can only wonder what Hillarycare II would have in store for us.

Know this: Nationalized health care is on the way. Give the democrats the trifecta in November and it will be here sooner rather than later. The majority of Americans do not feel that they should be responsible for their own health care. McCain has some good ideas for handling the so-called health care "crisis." These ideas involve private sector options. For instance - why not give the same tax breaks that businesses get when they buy health insurance for their workers to the workers themselves when they buy their own private policy?

Here is one big difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. In the health care arena Democrats want to empower politicians and government. Republicans want to empower the free market and individuals.

Good luck to our side.

OBAMA QUITS

Over the weekend, Barack Obama decided that it was finally time to leave his church. After twenty years in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Barack is sick of having to justify his membership.

This comes just days after Michael Pfleger's, Trinity's visiting pastor, comments came to light. Still, Obama says that he is not denouncing the church ... so what has really changed here? Yes he will no longer be attending services, but the fact of the matter is that he did sit in those pews for twenty years.

He said, "It's clear that now that I'm a candidate for president, every time something is said in the church by anyone associated with Trinity, including guest pastors, the remarks will imputed to me even if they totally conflict with my long-held views, statements and principles." And you know what? They probably will continue to be associated with Barack Obama. Here's a Q&A on Obama's decision to leave.

This is oh so simple to understand. Obama joined this church because it was to his political advantage to do so. Trinity was a politically powerful church and Obama needed that political power to get elected. Now in a national election the political power of Trinity doesn't overcome the negatives ... so there goes Obama. We shouldn't be surprised when a politician uses a church to further his political career. Not surprised, just discouraged.

IRAN'S SURGE SUCCESS

Nancy Pelosi really loves our military. In case you haven't caught her latest interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Nancy had a few opinions to share about her visit to Iraq. First she claims that the US troop surge failed to accomplish its goal. But then she comes up with this little gem:

"Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn't accomplish its goal. And some of the success of the surge is that the goodwill of the Iranians-they decided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities-the Iranians."

So according to Nancy Pelosi, we should be thanking the Iranians for the wonderful job they are doing in Iraq. Is this woman insane? Does she really hold our military in such disgust that she would rather credit a terrorist nation than her own nation that she is representing?

HURRICANE TAX

When in doubt, the Democrats (and a lot of Republicans) believe that the government can do it better. That's why many in Congress want to nationalize a huge part of the insurance business that covers major storm damage claims. So far, this proposal is backed by Allstate Corp., State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., and of course, Florida lawmakers. Essentially what they want to do is create a taxpayer funded reinsurance program that covers all 50 states.

But naturally the only state that would really benefit from this program would be Florida. Other gulf coast states might also benefit. This is why Florida is trying to make the issue a big one for the presidential candidates in the upcoming election. This program would save Florida homeowners about $500 each in annual premiums by shifting the burden to other taxpayers in states with fewer natural disasters. These reinsurance funds would collect the premiums from insurance companies that would end up benefiting because they would be paying less than if they were in the private reinsurance market ... that's because the savings would be passed along to the taxpayers. Then when a natural disaster hits, federal loans and state-backed reinsurance would step in to cover loses.

Question: Why should taxpayers in Wyoming have to pay to insure the homes of people who decide they want to live in the hurricane prone areas of the gulf and Atlantic coasts?

Oh .. and where in our Constitution do these politicians find the authority for a program like this?

GOVERNMENT SCHOOL OUTRAGE

A fourth grader from Winchendon, Massachusetts was suspended from his government school after bringing a Memorial Day souvenir to school. Bradley Geslak attends Toy Town Elementary School. In a Memorial Day celebration, a uniformed veteran gave Bradley two empty rifle shell casings from blank bullets.

The next day, Bradley made the mistake of bringing an empty casing to his government school, which has a zero tolerance policy. A teacher saw him the item in the lunch room. She confiscated the item. Now Bradley has been suspended for five days for violating the school's zero tolerance policy. Not only that, but the item will not be returned to Bradley or his family. And as if it couldn't get any worse, the school is considering assigning Bradley a probation officer.

Your government schools at work, folks. But don't worry ... I'm sure that yours is the exception.

This week, I am really looking forward to the debate on the Lieberman-Warner climate change bill. Luckily, its chances for actually passing are dwindling. What a mess.
