.... How the residents of Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and other cities in Iowa haven't been waiting around for George Bush to rescue them from the flood waters. Somehow, they seem to be showing quite a bit of strength and self-reliance. Hmmmmm. Wonder what that's all about.
Some reporter tried to pull a sarcastic question on John McCain, which seems to have backfired. The reporter was making fun of Michelle Obama by asking, if you have been educated Princeton and Harvard and made more than $300,000 a year, how could you be proud of your country? Well John McCain decided to actually answer the question by saying, "I'll admit to you that it's tough, it's tough in some respects." He also said that America needs to be "more humble, and more inclusive" ... whatever that means. But unlike Michelle Obama, McCain says that our history and the sacrifices of our US troops are some of the many ways to be proud of our country. Oh come on, folks. How difficult is this, really?
Of course, the environmentalists are throwing a fit because they believe that this gives oil companies a blank check to harass polar bears. However, the Fish and Wildlife Service says that the exploration will have little to no effect on the bears' population. Just to give you a little history, there is absolutely no evidence that a polar bear has ever been killed by oil and gas activities in Alaska since 1993. And since 1960, only two polar bear fatalities have been linked to oil and gas exploration in Alaska. Only two polar bears in almost half a century ... and these environmentalists are up in arms. These seven companies will have many requirements in order to comply with government regulations. For example, they must map out the locations of polar bear dens, train their employees about polar bear habitats and take many other measures to make sure they don't disrupt the polar bears. And polar bear deaths will be investigated and could result in government penalties. You would think that over time the people of this country would finally get somewhat of a handle on just what is going on with these so-called "environmentalists. Sure, some of them are truly concerned about the environment. Those would be the ones that appear to be reasonable when you hear them speak or read their pronouncements. The bulk of the environmental movement is based more on anti-capitalism and a desire to weaken America than it is to protect the Earth's environment. Patrick Moore was the founder of Greenpeace. He called himself a "radical environmentalist." Several years after founding Greenpeace Patrick Moore walked away. Moore said that the fall of communism brought a lot of anti-corporate extremism to the environmental movement. Here's his explanation:
Moore went on to say that these environmental activists " are now using the rhetoric of environmentalism to promote other collectivist agendas, such as class struggle..." Now bear in mind that Moore isn't actually a conservative. He wrote that he believed the class struggle cause was a legitimate one; he just didn't want it missed into the cause of environmentalism. So, what is the deal with these "environmentalists" worried about oil companies annoying polar bears? It isn't about the bears at all. It's about preventing these evil oil companies ... these evil corporations ... from discovering and then recovering oil. It's also about weakening America. What perfect cover these tired old communists and socialists have found. Suddenly they're the champions of the environment ... and who wants dirty air, dirty water and annoyed polar bears? You oppose their anti-capitalist agenda and suddenly you're against the environment. It was much easier to fight these people when cause was Karl Marx and not Winnie the Pooh. For more about Patrick Moore, check out our reading assignments! Before we go .. I just found this article before loading these notes on the Internet. We all know that Brazil has found some new massive oil deposits off shore. In this case the "environmentalists" aren't fighting the recovery of the oil. And why would that be? Could it possibly be because the bulk of the money goes to the government and not private enterprise? Here's a telling sentence from the story:
Now why would environmentalists even care? If their true concern was the environment, they wouldn't. If their true concern was crippling free enterprise, they would.
Just in case you didn't know it, Alicia Keys has informed us that Gangsta Rap was invented, apparently by white people, to get black people to kill each other. Also ... just in case you were aware of the bi-coastal feud between Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. ... that was a plot by the government and the media "to stop another great black leader from emerging." OK .. now you know.
Here's a letter from a government school teacher who has been teaching for 38 years. She seems to be upset that one school got more funding than another. This is Martha Smith's reason why her county should be getting more money for its government schools. She says, "Education is a right guaranteed by our federal and state constitutions which entitles all students to be educated fairly and equally." Equally? Just how in the hell does this government employee figure that every person in this country can be educated equally? Wouldn't we all have to have equal IQs? Wouldn't we all have to score the same on every test? This woman is teaching your children. Are you comfortable with that? Just think about it, folks. When Martha can find me the place in our United States Constitution that guarantees your right to a government education ... please let me know. I'm eagerly awaiting this new-found "right."
A judge in Ohio has been pictured with his two idols above his head ... Barack Obama and .... Somebody else. Go ahead folks. Look at the picture. Don't you love these Obama supporters? I'm sure Barack would just as soon see this picture disappear.
How nice.
UNICEF has decided that it would be a great idea to partner with the International Islamic Relief Organization based in Saudi Arabia. It seems all well and good until you discover that the Islamic Relief Organization has been designated as a terrorist group by the United States and the United Nations itself! Here are just a few details. In August 2006, the US Treasury Department designated two branches of the Islamic Relief Organization as terrorist organizations because they provided money and support to groups linked to al Qaeda including Abu Sayyaf (ASG) in the Philippines. A former member of this group in the Philippines testifies that a limited amount of foreign funding for the Islamic Relief Organization goes to legitimate projects and the rest of the money goes to terrorist operations. This group, as well as others, is on the United Nations 1267 Committee's consolidated list of individuals and entities associated with the Taliban, al Qaida and Osama Bin Ladin. But it is the United Nations, so I guess we can't be too surprised.
Five months later, Keith Shortsleeves still hasn't left the hospital. That's because the hospital's staff won't let him go because he doesn't have a home that meets his needs for post-hospital care. And why can't they find this guy a home? Because Keith Shortsleeves is a Level 3 sex offender who can't go back to his old apartment because it didn't have the proper handicapped accessibility ... AND he can't find a new apartment anywhere else because the government dictates where sex offenders can live. So the tab for his stay falls on the taxpayers under Medicare, but as some point these programs do run out ... in which case the taxpayers will still inadvertently pick up the tab for his stay because the hospital has to absorb the costs. A RARE PHOTO OF THE WEBWENCH Here's the webwench on vacation...just before diving the Lost Blue Hole in the Bahamas.
READING ASSIGNMENTS President Bush wants to get Osama bin Laden before he leaves office. He should have pulled out all the stops years ago. The founder of the Weather Channel has quite an earful for Al Gore about his global warming hoax. John McCain speaks out about the recent Supreme Court decision to allow Gitmo detainees to challenge their detention in US courts. McCain says it's "one of the worst decisions in the history of this country". I don't know. Kelo vs. New London might be worse. Sad news. NBC's Tim Russert died of a heart attack this weekend. Could it have had anything to do with his flight from Italy to the U.S. the night before? Looks like Elian Gonzalez turned out about right ... he has now joined Cuba's Young Communist Union. Well .. you gotta give Obama credit for this one. At least he can say it and get away with it. The United Nations has decided that Great Britain should get rid of its monarchy. The plan to have checkpoints around DC to monitor who is going in and out of "safe areas" has since been scrapped. A Texas Republican has decided that the most important issue on his agenda is removing nude artwork from Washington D.C. Oh yeah .. this is certainly going to draw more voters to the Republican side of things. This is perhaps the best consequence of $4 a gallon gas ... less teenagers on the roads. Gotta love it. Two children in Spain were admitted to a mental health institution because their parents believed they were addicted to their cell phones. A government school teacher is pressing charges after a 10-year-old student drew a picture of himself with a gun shooting the teacher. When your government school district is complaining that it doesn't have enough money, they've come up with a brilliant way to maintain their budgets: cut the gifted programs for the high achievers! Well, after all. Everyone should be educated equally, right? Government schools in Fairfax, Virginia no longer have Valedictorians, but instead recognize students with over a 4.0 GPA as "honor graduates." We already knew this to be true, but "right-wingers" are happier, more generous to charities, less likely to commit suicide. A one-legged war veteran was arrested after saving a woman and her baby from being harassed by two men because he brought an "offensive weapon" with him as defense. Another racist company ... this time it is a sock monkey dressed as Barack Obama. Here's a real winner ... 415 tattoos in 24 hours. Let's hope this wasn't on one person. I wonder how many tramp stamps he managed to crank out. | ||
