Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke warned that the more government spends on healthcare the more we put our economic stability in danger. Currently, 23% of federal spending goes towards Medicare and Medicaid ... that is an increase of 6% from 1975. And guess what, I have news for you ... that number is only going to increase. Big time. Bernanke says that government spending on healthcare will soon begin to affect our interest rates, economic growth and stability. He says that higher government spending on healthcare will require reductions in other government programs ... which will never happen because the Democrats will fight to the death for their entitlement programs. So this leaves two other options ... higher taxes (on the evil rich) or larger budget deficits. But you Democrats out there keep on believing that you have a right to healthcare. You keep on dreaming that Barack Obama will be your savior and solve all of your healthcare needs while the small business owners out there are picking up the tab for your laziness and incompetence. It's only a matter of time. By the way ... Studies show that somewhere around 60% of the money that is spent on any given individual's health care is spent during the last few months of that individual's life. I GUARANTEE you that when the government gets control of your healthcare, there will be rationing. And guess who is going to be on the short end of that stick.
The New York Times says, "Massachusetts's pioneering plan to provide universal health coverage is off to a good start and is heartening evidence that national health care reform may be possible if sufficient skill and determination are applied to forge a political consensus." The sad part is ... the program is nothing but an excuse for bigger government. And, of course, it comes with a huge price tag for tax payers. Do you know that you have to pay a penalty in Massachusetts if you do not sign up for healthcare coverage? The government will penalize you for not making a decision that should be yours to make. Just why is it the government's job to ensure that you don't do stupid things? And why is it the government's responsibility to seize money from someone else and spend it on you when you do? Costs for this entitlement program have risen faster than original prediction ... gee, no kidding. The state has had to raise its spending estimates on the healthcare program from $472 million to $625 million and from $725 million to $869 million for next year. That is almost double, folks! Not to mention the fact that newly government-insured people are having a hard time finding a primary care physician. And the number of low-income residents using the emergency room for non-emergency care has actually risen since this program went into place. That should be no surprise to most of you. The New York Times, though, thinks it's great ... this failing newspaper thinks that this is a model for a national healthcare policy. Oh, they do admit that the challenge would be to "keep costs under control and find new sources of revenue." Well first of all, we are talking about government so the prices will never be under control. And "finding a new source of revenue" is just a fancy way of saying that we will have the evil rich people pay for it. Another government redistribution scheme. I shouldn't expect anything less from the New York Times.
Exxon Mobil is selling its gas stations because the company is simply not making any money. The retail side of the gasoline business isn't known to be lucrative, but things have gotten even worse with $4 a gallon gas prices. Gas station owners are just hoping to make a buck through auto repairs and food and drink sales. So the evil oil corporation Exxon Mobil has decided to sell its 800 company-owned stations. It will also sell an addition 1,400 dealer-operated locations to distributors. Somewhere, a liberal is smiling inside ... unaware of what this really means. It means that government - taxes and our asinine no-drill policies - are hurting American businesses. And this is just the beginning, folks.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said that Islamic countries deserve a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council. Ayatollah Khamenei is the highest ranking political and religious authority in Iran. He believes that George Bush will one day be tried in an international criminal court for liberating Iraq. He also accuses the United States of "blind terrorism." Yep ... and this is the guy who is pushing for Islam to have a permanent seat in the UN Security Council. That sounds about right. Looks like they'll fit right in. You know what? The UN is very likely to cave into to these goons. This story will prove to you, once again, why you should be glad to live in the United States ... although stories like this are coming soon to an American town near you! Just wait. Police in Great Britain spent $200,000 of taxpayer money to help a Sikh officer find a chemical and biological attack suit that could properly fit over his turban and beard. The junior officer was a member of the West Midlands Police's counter-terrorist operation support unit. He ran into problems because he could not fit the protective gear over his religious garb and beard, so the police chief let this guy spend 18 months trying to find new respirators and helmets that would be suitable for Sikh officers. At the end of the 18 months, after the taxpayers have spent $200,000 for his little project, guess what the guy found? Nothing. Nada. He failed to come up with an alternative. So they actually gave the guy his regular job back ... only then he decided to go on long-term sick leave for "stress." A spokesman for West Midlands Police said, "As an employer committed to equality and diversity, we are working to try to find a solution to what is a national issue." READING ASSIGNMENTS This is not to be missed...a public service announcement from George Takei on homophobia. McCain wants to lift the ban on offshore drilling and thinks it should be up to the individual states to pursue energy exploration. Wow! State's rights? Doesn't he know that state's rights is just a code word for racism? A federal judge has ruled that the White House does not have to make its e-mails available to the public. Newt Gingrich believes that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal would be the best VP candidate for John McCain. I'm with Newt. The Supreme Court has accepted a case to decide whether top US government officials can be held personally liable for condoning the mistreatment of people detained after 9/11. Speaking of the Supreme Court, a Rasmussen poll found that 60% of American voters believe that Supreme Court Justices have their own political agendas. Duhhhh. This is a little taste of how your Representatives in Washington are doing financially these days. I'll give you a hint ... they seem to be doing just fine. Here's yet another in-depth look at one of the greatest hoaxes ever created: global warming. The mainstream media is getting really good at capturing these Obamessiah moments. I'm standing here beside myself that this article was actually published in the mainstream media, much less the LATimes: Bush never lied to us about Iraq. Students at the University of Massachusetts lobbied to have Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe stripped of his honorary degree he received in 1986 ... and the board of trustees actually did it. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine celebrated Che Guevara's birthday by dressing him up in a "peace scarf." If Che were alive today, would he be Obama's VP pick? A taxpayer group in New York is planning to sue the state in order to prove that state aid to businesses (corporate welfare) is unconstitutional. Want to know your new Constitutional rights? How about the right to miniature golf or easier access to hotel room light switches or ... well you get the point. And you can thank the Americans with Disabilities Act. Here's another person crying foul in the name of the Americans with Disabilities Act ... this time it is a Portland activist who is complaining that the city of Portland failed to properly accommodate buses for disabled people when it redesigned its downtown mall transit. The Florida Health Department has used taxpayer money to conduct a survey in Central Florida to determine how much danger your kids are in. Some dumbass is suing Home Depot claiming that he injured himself after being glued to a toilet seat. Some Texan living in Great Britain has made a career out of creating portraits of friends and celebrities on the back windows of dirty cars. Some global warmers decided to ride their bikes naked across Manchester to protest global warming ... the only problem was that the day turned out to be unseasonably cold. | ||
