HILLARY LIVES!

It has to be said that this is great news for talk radio. Maybe all of that research I've been doing on Hillary hasn't been a wasted effort. Both Hillary and I feel reinvigorated today.

Now we're going to have a second MoveOnDemocrat season with Hillary and Obama trying to out-liberalize each other. Who knows what strange policy initiatives they'll come up with? They're going to be moving so far to the left there's a danger they could fall off the end of the Earth. We can rest assured that they'll come up with new and wonderful ideas on how to reign in the free competitive markets and strengthen the role of government in our daily lives. Watch these two - and get a hint of what will happen in this country if we hand the complete control of our government over to them in November.

So .. how did Hillary pull this one off? Here are five reasons, according to Politico.com, as to why Hillary was able to comeback from near oblivion in the age of BarackObamaMania. Here's what Politico has to say:

1. The "SNL" Factor. Just when you thought no one watched "Saturday Night Live" anymore, the show made a star cameo on this year's trail. The Not Ready for Prime Time Players were brutally effective in exposing the fawning coverage of Obama. Never underestimate the power of shame in journalism. "SNL's" mockery went straight to reporters' insecurities. Being accused of falling "in the tank" for a candidate is the journalistic equivalent of a nerdish high school freshman getting a wedgie from the jocks. There's also Hillary's appearance. She almost looked human ... endearing even.
   
   Perhaps it was this SNL satire that led reporters to act tough with stories about Obama's relationship with a Chicago influence-peddler, his sincerity in opposing NAFTA and his stiff-arming of questions from the press.
    
2. Wolfson Barks. Howard Wolfson is Clinton's hired thug, also known as campaign communications director. He holds a conference call every day to tell reporters they are worthless and weak (not to mention fat, lazy and stupid - no way to go through life) because of their soft Obama coverage. Again, reporters' self-justifying mechanism kicks in when someone says they are being too tough. But their self-loathing mechanism kicks in when someone says they are being too mean. Read Dana Milbank's account of Monday's Obama press conference to see if Wolfson's hectoring is working. The answer: Damn straight.
    
3. Burying Bill. The Clinton campaign badly miscalculated how much reporters would jump on any reason to return to one of their all-time favorite subjects: the adventures and misadventures of Bill Clinton. There was simply no way that the 42nd president could play a prominent role in Hillary's campaign and not have reporters cover it as if he were the star and she were supporting actress. But where has Bill Clinton been lately? It is as if he was sent to Afghanistan on a secret mission with Prince Harry.
    
4. Sister Sledge. Reporters roll their eyes when Clinton or surrogates start suggesting she is the victim of sexist assumptions in political and media cultures. But the press this year may be underestimating how much those complaints ring true to many women. It could be that we are on the brink of another New Hampshire, where anecdotal evidence suggested that many women were self-consciously voting against a pundit-class story line that said the race was over and the smooth-talking man had won out over the hard-working woman.
    
5. Timing. Politics is all about the moment, defining it, capturing it, profiting from it. The Tony Rezko trial was a godsend. It started on Monday, which prompted The New York Times and scores of columnists to write about it over the weekend. The perfect hook for Clinton forces to raise questions about his judgment- only days after airing the infamous 3 a.m. scare ad that also questions his judgment. Coincidence? They don't happen in politics.

For my own two-cent's worth, I would like to add the Canada factor. Despite the denials I think that Obama's representative actually did tell those Canadian officials not to worry about NAFTA ... that this stuff they were hearing from Ohio was just campaign rhetoric. Never mind that Obama is right. Never mind that Ohio's real problem is it's love affair with industrial unions .... Ohio doesn't want to see the United Auto Workers as the enemy .. not while NAFTA is out there. Obama recognizes the truth - and Hillary wins.

The question now is whether or not the wave has crested. Obama has had quite a time surfing that wave .. but they always break as they near the shore. Perhaps the ride is over. Maybe realism is setting in. Maybe - with the Rezko and Canada affairs, voters are coming to realize that in the end Obama is another politician.

THE RIGHT TO GOVERNMENT EDUCATION

Let me set the stage for this story ... Karina Acosta lived in Roswell, New Mexico. She is 18-years-old. She is pregnant. She is, also, an illegal alien. That last fact shouldn't be too surprising ... considering the fact that at least 44% of the total population of Roswell is Hispanic. At Karina's high school, an estimated 90% of students are Hispanic and 40% are believed to be illegal. We, of course, are paying for them.

Driving to high school one morning, Karina was stopped by a Roswell policeman because she was blocking a fire lane. She was also driving without a license. Then the policeman, Charlie Corn, committed the cardinal sin ... he asked Karina for her proof of legal U.S. residency. She had none. He even gave her days to produce her proof of legal residency. She still had none, so she was taken to a juvenile detention center. Now Karina is gestating in Mexico.

The fact that Karina is back home certainly doesn't mean the town and the school didn't put up a fight. Students and parents protested Karina's treatment, complaining that it was racist and unfair (thus illustrating the quality of education in Roswell, New Mexico). The protestors said that this is worrisome because government schools are supposed to be safe havens for illegal immigrants. Even though these protesters probably couldn't tell you the names of their two U.S. Senators, they darned sure were familiar with a 1982 Supreme Court ruling that guarantees children who are in the U.S. illegally the "right" to a government education.

Jennifer Moore, who teaches international, human rights and refugee law at the University of New Mexico says that this incident has made a "mockery" of students' "right" to education. She then explains that these government schools are the "very place where they have the greatest chance at getting the skills they need to participate in this society that they are living in" ... isn't that a bunch of hogwash? Here we have a university professor ..or assistant professor .. or instructor .. or whatever .. telling us essentially that every child in the world has some sort of a legally enforceable "right" to an education in the United States; all they have to do is get here one way or another, legally or illegally, to exercise their "right."

The Rev. Juan Montoya of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church says, "It's not just about Karina. Karina is just one of many ... I know people who have been picked up - didn't break a law, they didn't pass a stop sign, they didn't do anything." Didn't break the law? What the hell is this idiot talking about? Didn't she break the law by entering this country illegally? Isn't she breaking the law every single day she stays here? And, not to get too picky here, didn't Karina break the law by blocking a fire lane and driving without a driver's license?

The illegal immigration problem sure has a way of bringing out the idiot in so many people.

AND THE WINNING NUMBER IS ...

Oregon has decided it would be cute to offer a lottery, and the prize would be government health insurance. The state is going to start drawing numbers this week to give people the chance to enroll in the Oregon Health Plan. The plan is aimed at (are you ready for this) "people not poor enough for Medicaid but too cash-strapped to buy their own insurance."

So who are these "cash-strapped" people? Let me paint the picture. Close to all of these people probably have a cell phone. More than likely, they pay for Internet and cable service. Heck, many of them probably have flat-screen TVs. Most have car payments. They probably have credit card debt that is 5-digits long and they pay the minimum every month so that they can afford their cable and cell phones. Are you seeing where I am going with this? These people are not cash-strapped ... they have chosen not to have health insurance, and now get to play a little game of chance with the government just to get it for "free", which means "paid for by the taxpayers."

Let's talk about Shirley. She's 61-years-old. She works part time and says she has too little income to buy her own health insurance, which means that she can't take insulin regularly for her diabetes. Shirley signed up for this government program because "it's at least a hope." That is what this country has become ... a 300 million person assisted living care center where the average citizen sits around "hoping" that the government is going to come to the rescue.

Oh and the cost of this program? Don't know. But the author of the article did point out that the program covers their most basic health services, medications and limited dental, hospital and vision services "at little or no cost." What key phrase is missing from this statement? These services are costing someone ... that would be you, the taxpayers.

BACK TO TRAINS

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is suggesting that Great Britain needs to change from a transportation society based on roads to one based on rails. They are making this suggestion in order to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

So now, the British government is expected to invest billions in taxpayer money in railways ... just because it will help curb CO₂ emissions? What about market demands? What if people simply do not want to ride trains or use them for business? What if the trains aren't going where the people want to go? All of this doesn't matter to the myrmidons of the global warming "movement." If money is being spent to abate the threat of global warming, then, by definition, the money is being spent well.

Here's something else that this Institution's report suggests. It acknowledges that train tickets can be expensive (so people won't want to buy them). So in order to force people to choose trains over flying or driving ... they recommend that all transportation options include environmental impact costs. So tickets for a flight would now need to include the price equivalent of that flight's environmental impact ... therefore artificially driving up the cost, simply because flying causes more harm to the environment than other modes of transportation.

Get a hint, folks. The scam is about to die. Global warming is about to go the way of goat testicle implants. It's a fraud. Global temperatures have dropped in the past ten years. Sixty percent of the Northern Hemisphere had snow and ice cover this year. The Arctic ice pack is back. Polar Bears are flourishing. The ice on Greenland and in Antarctica is thickening. They had to cancel a Winter festival in New Hampshire because of too much winter.

Global warming is and has always been about punishing free enterprise economies for the benefit of anti-capitalist economies and the dictator-plagued third world. Folks are starting to wake up.

A study by the Project for Excellence in Journalism seems to think so.

A survey shows that the public believes McCain over the New York Times story by a 2 to 1 margin.

The only news Hillary and Obama will tell you about the economy is how middle class Americans are suffering ... but that's really not the whole story.
