So .. here's our game plan at the Boortz show. We'll keep an eye on these folks .. and jump in when there's something interesting to say. I also want to spend more time talking about the legislative proposals they're floating. Have you, for instance, heard about Barack's "Patriot Employer" act? Yup .. Good ole Barack has found a sure fire way to make more and more American employers grab their jobs and haul them overseas. But .. he has an answer for that too. He wants to erect an economic Berlin wall around America. Keep listening .. more on that coming up. Then there's Hillary's plan for "universal health care." Why the quotes? Because that's just the focus group approved way of saying "nationalized health care", which is, in turn, just another way of saying "socialized medicine." I'll be looking for those stories that tell you just how badly these systems are working in other countries. We have the best health care system in the world. Yes, it could be improved. What couldn't? But the improvements need to come through government and private sector reforms. Having said all that ... there's a lot more going on out there. Government outrages, judges trying to force home-schooled children back to government schools. Human oddities and frailties ... So hang on. When you toss a bomb into a military recruiting station you're using violence to make a political point. That's exactly what happened in New York this morning. Someone on a bicycle rode by a military recruiting station in the center of Times Square around 4:00 this morning and tossed a bomb through the window. Nobody injured. Catch the guy? Probably never. The governors of Florida and Michigan have released a joint statement, asking for their delegates back. Here is what Gov. Charlie Crist and Jennifer Granholm had to say:
Okay, from the very first sentence of their statement ... it is clear these two have no clue what this country is about. And I'm not surprised. The very first words of their statement are "The right to vote ..." How many times have you heard me rant about this on my radio show or cite sources for days on this webpage trying to educate you on the fact that there is no constitutional right to vote in a federal election. None. And certainly not in a presidential election. And then these governors go on the say that this "right" is the "very foundation of our democracy." Wrong again. We are not a democracy. Democracy is a hideous form of government. The word "Democrat" originally meant "one who panders to the ignorant masses." Maybe these governors really do believe we are a democracy ... because they sure are living up to that definition. These 5,163,271 Americans have been "silenced." Good. Just how many of these "voters" actually have a clue a to what is going on in this country or this election? These two governors knew exactly what the rules were when they decided to move their primaries up. The Democrat Party told both of them that if they did this their delegates would not be seated at the Democrat convention. They were told that their actions would have consequences --- and they acted in defiance of the rules anyway. Now come the consequences ... and they're screaming bloody murder. Somehow the people in this country need to re-learn the lesson about actions having consequences. Maybe disqualifying these delegates - as promised - is a start. The United Nations has decided to drop a new resolution against Iran. The UN has already rendered itself obsolete ... and this is a prime example of why. This pathetic organization can't stand up against anything. Western states have scrapped the plan to condemn Iran for its ongoing development of weaponized nuclear materials because they faced opposition from China and Russia. Oooooh, they faced opposition. Things are getting hot and heavy now. And this was just after the chief inspector of the International Atomic Energy Agency presented intelligence that Iran has made attempts to weaponize that uranium. But .. I'm guessing that the U.N. is going to continue with its condemnation of New Orleans for not rebuilding some welfare housing for the parasites that scattered - though not too quickly - when Katrina hit.
There are reports that some gas stations in California are pricing gasoline at over five bucks a gallon. At that rate it would cost over $100 to fill a 20 gallon tank. (I'm pretty sure of the math on this one.) So ... are we getting close to drilling in ANWR? Is Florida ready to become a part of the solution instead of being part of the problem? Coming soon: Some Democrat is going to suggest that we start buying gas for poor, poor, pitiful poor people ... just as we buy their home heating oil now. They will call it a "temporary" program ... and it will never go away.
Stossel has been trying to figure out what fuels this general hatred of capitalism. He's constantly trying to figure out why people hate business. He narrows it down to a few reasons. The first is wealth envy. The other is that people view business as, what he describes as, a zero-sum game. In other words, if I make a profit off of you, you lose the game. If you've been paying attention you've noticed the emerging opinion trend that profits are OK ... just so long as you don't earn a profit on something that someone else actually NEEDS. This, needless to say, is an ignorant way to think, but that seems to be the norm. Remember ... government education. Stossel also says that it is this kind of ignorance that makes people hate business and he believes it is this same ignorance that is fueling the global warming movement. Economic ignorance makes people unaware of how successful capitalist economy has been ... because they ignore the track record and just believe what they want to believe because they envy the rich. The same goes for these warmers. Can you really say that in the big picture, man is causing "global warming?" True scientific evidence doesn't back up the premise ... but we love the global warming cause anyway. Why? Because it gives people a justification for their hatred of and attacks on big business, especially the oil companies. In the end it all leads back to wealth envy. Wealth envy is behind a great deal of environmentalism ... even right down to people who whine about airport noise.
Here's a prime example of what John Stossel and I have been saying all along. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development released a report stating that the world must deal with climate change, and it must be dealt with immediately. Just to give you a taste of what the report recommends ... governments must create "green tax" policies to encourage sound technologies and practices, and the rich world must help poor countries develop without spewing pollution by providing technology and expertise. This is real, folks. This global redistribution of wealth scheme in the name of global warming will be going full steam before you know it. Do you think she took home the $1 million?
Didn't I call this? Lately we have had a series of unfortunate accidents involving government school buses. It has been less than a week since we had right here in our own city of Atlanta, and we are already getting the cries for seatbelt laws on government school buses. Federal law does not require seat belts on large government school buses ... yet. Some states like California, Florida, Texas and others have gone on to require them School busses are statistically the safest way to get to school, with or without seatbelts. Even the American School Bus Council says that seatbelts are unnecessary because buses are designed specifically to protect children. A quarter of all government school bus related accidents happen when children are boarding, leaving or approaching school buses. But nonetheless, it will cost taxpayers an additional $5,000 to $10,000 per school bus to install seat belts on a new 66-passenger bus. These buses already cost about $70,000. Hey ... how about air bags? The commanding officer of the Chicago Police Department's Narcotics and Gang Unit is excited because this will give him an "important tool" to go after grocery stores, health food stores and other businesses. Violators would be punished by a $1,500 fine. It seems that only one city council member expressed concern. He is worried that innocent people will be arrested because extra buttons that come with suits and shirts come in similar plastic baggies. Nevertheless, this argument was too logical. Government will do anything if it is "for the children." READING ASSIGNMENTS
You can tell a lot by who a politician decides to surround himself with. Barack Obama's senior military advisor says that President Bush is to blame for Iran's "bad behavior." I wonder what position this jerk will have in Obama's administration. Democrats are trying to address the "housing market crisis" by creating a bill that would call for the federal purchases of distressed mortgages. And just where is that money going to come from? The managing editor of the Washington Post says that the media is to blame for "Islamic misconceptions." Because of that, he wants to hire more Muslim journalists. Yeah .. Muslims do nothing to create the ill will. It's all because the media just doesn't understand them. Senator Jim DeMint has introduced the "Complete the Fence Act" into the Congress. It calls for 700 miles of reinforced pedestrian fencing along the border by 2010. Don't forget the very hungry pit bulls. A plane flies five passengers from the US to London and the environmental whackos declare it a scandal. How many passengers did that airplane fly back? Here's a friendly Muslim story ... a Syrian man decapitated his 15-month-old nephew with a knife in front of the mother and the public at a local supermarket. What happened? Did the kid look at a girl or something? Maybe he touched the bacon in the meat display case. Water managers are going to dump billions of gallons of water into the Grand Canyon in an experiment to help create a better environment for a 3 million-year-old fish called the Humpback Chub. The city of New York is using taxpayer money to fund an ad campaign for people to call 311 to report a homeless person. Microsoft is creating a new-aggregator that categorizes stories depending on the "level of emotional charge." The Denver airport has decided to regulate which websites its WiFi users can access while waiting for flights. If I'm lucky, my website will be one of them. Even if vultures are destroying your property ... just remember that you can't do anything about it because they are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Here's a little rant on how the pothole industry is refusing to evolve with technology ... because the unions won't allow it. The many shades of Barack Obama ... this is getting ridiculous, folks. Hint: Some would say that the tint of Obama's skin might matter more to Blacks than to Whites. Americans are more in love with their cell phones than they are with the Internet. Meet the world's smallest gun ... it's just two inches long and fires 300mph bullets. | ||
