| Monday, March 10, 2008 Little did we know that this was going to be our biggest book signing yet! Congressman John Linder and I were in Orange Park, just outside of Jacksonville, Florida, to sign copies of "FairTax: The Truth" at the Orange Park Mall Books-a-Million this past Saturday morning. The crowd was incredible - and that's a good thing since C-SPAN was there to film our little talk and the book signing for C-SPAN Book TV. The Books-a-Million completely sold out of every copy they had of FairTax: The Truth, The FairTax Book and Somebody's Gotta Say It. We know now that the FairTax isn't going to come to pass at the behest of the political class. The FairTax will advance because the people of this country understand that politicians use our present tax code to punish accomplishment and to reward laziness. The people want an end to tax policy as a means of controlling their behavior. When almost 800 people turn out on a Saturday morning to hear two seasoned men talking about taxes, you know something is going on. We have no idea when this book signing will be featured on C-SPAN, but you can keep a watch on this website to find out.
Hillary knows that there are a lot of Democrats out there who may favor Barack, but who would be quite satisfied if she gets the nomination. So she's sending them a signal: Vote for me, and I'll get Barack on the ticket with me. Then you can have both. Not gonna happen. She's conning you. I don't think that there's any way in hell Hillary will bring Obama on board if she gets the nomination. She knows that with Obama in the administration it would be a constant reminder to everyone how likeable he is, and how terribly unlikable she is. She isn't going to want a vice president who stands any chance of upstaging her along the way. The reality here is that in spite of the excitement of the past week ... Hillary is not going to be the Democrat nominee. The numbers just aren't there. The ONLY way Hillary can get this nomination is to use Democrat insiders - the so-called Super Delegates - to run an end around the primary voters and give the nomination to Clinton. Giving the nomination to Hillary would doom the Democrats to defeat in November. Black voters will know they've been robbed, and they'll suspect that the robbery was based on a feeling that a black candidate would have a tough time winning the election. When the black voters sit on their hands in large numbers in November - not feeling particularly threatened by McCain - Democrats take a drubbing. Remember folks. Hillary Clinton is perhaps one of the most dishonest people in American politics not yet serving a prison sentence. Don't get conned.
This plastic bag campaign all began because of a misrepresentation of a 1987 Canadian study in Newfoundland. The study found that between 1981 and 1984 more than 100,000 marine mammals were killed by discarded nets. Nowhere in the study does it mention plastic bags. But somewhere along the way, like a global environmentalist game of Telephone, this was misconstrued to also include plastic bags. Even a marine biologist for Greenpeace, David Santillo, says that the science is bad and undermines the government's (in this case it is the UK) case for banning plastic bags. Santillo says, "It's very unlikely that many animals are killed by plastic bags ... The evidence shows just the opposite. We are not going to solve the problem of waste by focusing on plastic bags." So, there you go. Just like global warming, environmentalists have stampeded billions of people, including politicians, into buying their hysteria. Just last month, Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that he is going to force supermarkets to charge for plastic bags because they were "one of the most visible symbols of environmental waste." Also, like global warming, the agenda of environmentalists is not really about the environment ... it is about money. Wealth redistribution. Punishing the rich. Anti-capitalism. The chairman of Sense about Science, Lord Taverne said, "The Government is irresponsible to jump on a bandwagon that has no base in scientific evidence. This is one of many examples where you get bad science leading to bad decisions which are counter-productive. Attacking plastic bags makes people feel good but it doesn't achieve anything." Exactly.
Friday afternoon. I'm flying commercial to Jacksonville for a radio station event and a book signing on Saturday morning. When I get to Hartsfield I notice that the security line is very long .. out through the rotunda and into baggage claim. Not good. As I near the front of the security line I see the reason. At least eight of the security lines are closed. They're barely using half their security screening capacity. I know just what to look for at that point; and sure enough, there in the back I can see about 20 or 30 TSA employees just milling around. When I get through the security I seek out a TSA manager. She tells me that the lines were closed because they were changing shifts. Changing shifts? Yeah .. changing shifts. I'm not exaggerating one ounce when I tell you that this has happened to me at least six times in the last six months. The line is long, the security lanes are closed, and I'm told that they're changing shifts. Let me be clear here .. I'm not blaming the rank and file TSA workers. I've found these men and women at Hartsfield and elsewhere to be completely pleasant as they try to do a difficult and important job. It's management. It's people running the show who more likely than not have never had to run an operation anywhere close to this before in their lives. They've been overcome by government mentality. This, my friends, is oh so typical of a government operation. There is no money to be made by airport security operations, and therefore no money to be lost when the operation is slowed down by inefficient management. Customer service and satisfaction aren't a concern because, one way or the other, everybody has to go through that particular screening operation or they just don't get to fly. There are no competitive options. There is no competing security screening operation that can take advantage of this malfeasance. Throughout this country we have manufacturing companies that manage to change shifts three times a day without shutting down half of their operations. To them, time is money. Lost time is lost money. To the TSA managers at Hartsfield time is nothing more than minutes that pass until they can clock out for the day. You might expect the management at Hartsfield would be raising some hell about this situation. You might think that until, that is, you remember that Hartsfield us merely another government operation. No competition, no reason to improve the customer service. What are you going to do? Drive to Birmingham?
Hillary's folks really want those delegates she "won" in Florida to be counted. As you know (if you've been paying attention) the Democrat primary in Florida was held early, contrary to the wishes of the Democrat National Party. They were told that their delegates would not be seated if they went through with an early primary, and now the Hillary Democrats are screaming bloody murder. You've probably heard during the past week or so that this is really a mess the Republicans made for the Democrats .. and that the Democrats are just innocent victims of some Republican chicanery in Florida. After all, it was a Republican controlled Florida legislature that scheduled these early primaries. Do you want the rest of the story? Here you go. It was a Democrat Florida State Senator, not a Republican, who introduced the bill calling for the early primary. Not only that, but every single Democrat in the Florida Senate voted in favor of moving the primaries. The Democrats put the legislation on the table - and the Democrats hammered it through. We at Neal's Nuze just wanted you to have the whole story there.
This particular page (page 14) of the "Activity Book" then lists the Bill of Rights with short explanations of each one. I thought you might like to see what this book says about the 2nd Amendment:
Are you believing that? This, my friends, is the way the government schools work to indoctrinate rather than educate. In the heading Harcourt says that the Bill of Rights protects the rights of the people ... then they go on to say that the 2nd Amendment actually protects the rights of government. Are you sending your children to the government to be educated? The state of California is actually wasting its time (and your taxpayer dollars) to remove a provision that currently prohibits government school teachers from indoctrinating our children into the positive aspects of communism. Now what we mean here is teaching children - your children - that communism is cool. The state will also delete a provision that allows teachers to be fired for teaching the communism-as-cool line. And wait! There's more. This bill (you can read it here) also removes provisions from the law that would prohibit a private organization from using school property - taxpayer property - to promote communism. Looks like there were a lot of government school teachers that were flying under the radar. Whew. At least now they can practice and indoctrinate out in the open. Clearly a provision like this never existed for presidential campaigns ...
There was an outreach event at the ADAMS mosque, a hard-line Wahhabi mosque controlled by the Saudis. One of its more prominent members is none other than CAIR's Ibrahim Hooper. This particular mosque is where the FBI decided to host an Islamic outreach event. The FBI tried to assure concerned Muslims that it does not profile Arabs and Muslims for terrorism. It also said that it is making "hate crimes" against Muslims and other minorities the second-highest priority in the criminal division of the FBI. Let's just hope that reigning in Muslim terrorist goons is still the first priority. This Muslim sensitivity training is part of basic training for FBI agents. The training has been extended because diversity is important to the FBI, according to one agent. What a crock.
The captain of a pontoon boat in Merritt Island, Florida received a $321 ticket for feeding a dolphin. He was filmed by an undercover officer with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission feeding menhaden baitfish to the dolphin. The captain was ticketed for "interfering with a dolphin's normal activity," which is a second-degree misdemeanor. Apparently he could have been charged under a federal law that bans the feeding of dolphin ... that penalty can reach $5,000 and in some cases, the government will seize the person's boat. Hmmmmm ... if feeding a dolphin is a crime, why isn't it a crime to feed the homeless? Aren't we interfering with their normal activities? Want another one? A bill in the Tennessee legislature would require a paternity test to be performed on all babies before the fathers' name is listed on the birth certificate. The current law says that women who have been married for 300 days before the baby's birth automatically have the husband's name put on the birth certificate. If a woman is single, she has to get a paternity test before the name of the father is listed on the birth certificate. But State Rep. G. A. Hardaway says that it is every child's right to know who their real father is. Who pays for the test? Do you have to ask? We're not through. In Montgomery County, Maryland, thousands of drivers have had to pay $40 fines for being caught on new speed cameras installed by the county. But some people are refusing to pay ... police officers. Following the advice of their union, officers are saying that the citations go to the owner of the car, which in this case would be the county. Speaking of speed cameras ... check out what the British government is trying to do with speed cameras on its roads. Talk about a Nanny State. Where are the studies to surmise how many more accidents will be caused by this?
Which is putting our country at greater peril:
Just how absurd can Muslims be? Muslim female medical students at hospitals in Britain are saying they're going to change career choices because they object to displaying their forearms when scrubbing for surgery. Sorry --- I don't want an idiot like this handling my medical care. Why do I use the term "Democrat Party?" Because Republicans belong to the Republican Party and Democrats belong to the Democrat party. You don't call members of the Republican Party "Republics." Besides ... it really pisses them off. Rasmussen has conducted a poll to see who the people would really want answering that infamous 3AM phone call. Most of them said John McCain, with 42% of the vote over Hillary and Obama who had 25% each.
The Vatican has gone to meddling again. They've decided that the original seven deadly sins just aren't enough. We need some new ones. So here you go, but first, a review. For those of you who don't remember the original seven, here you go, courtesy of Pope Gregory back there in the 6th Century.
Hold on a minute! What are those phrases after the sins? Why those are the punishments originally established by the Catholic Church for transgressors. Moving right along to the new magnificent seven!
Now you know. Adjust your behavior accordingly. Yeah .. right. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Amusement parks everywhere should be concerned...if this gets out it'll really cut into business. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
Georgia Democrats have killed a provision to remove the birthday tax. Why? Because they didn't want any limits on how high your property taxes can go. Democrats being Democrats. The race is over? Dick Morris says that Hillary didn't win by enough in last Tuesday's primaries. He says Obama will be the nominee. Reasoned analysis or wishful thinking? Barack Obama won Wyoming's whopping 7 delegates over the weekend. He'll never visit Wyoming again. Clinton and Obama are now fighting over how Hillary feels about women's progress in Mississippi. What do Barack Obama and FARC have to do with one another? And what's FARC? The Chinese managed to break up an Islamic terrorist plot targeting the Olympics in Beijing. Now if you've seen TV reports of this incident you'll notice that most reporters somehow forget to mention the word "Islamic." There was record snow over the weekend in parts of Ohio and Indiana. But wait, wasn't this supposed to be a record warm winter? I'm so confused. According to the European Union, climate change has become one of the more contentious international issues. That happens when you get lied to. Commanders of the British Royal Air Force in eastern England are telling their personnel not to wear their uniforms in public after facing months of verbal attacks. Andrew Sullivan says that the Clintons are a horror film that never ends. You'll be glad to hear that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has rejected a call from lawmakers to make two Muslim holy days official school holidays. How about spending $12,000 a year to randomly have your children drug tested by their government school? Even better ... in New Jersey, government school athletes as young as 12-years-old could be randomly tested for steroids. Haven't had enough government school outrage? How about an Islamic school in Minnesota that is being funded by taxpayer dollars. Two 14-year-old boys in the UK were kicked out of school for taking Viagra. They were just trying to get their test scores up. The Monday after daylight savings time is one of the worst for car crashes. For a real time waster ... help the United Nations end world hunger by learning better vocabulary. Seriously. It's the UN, folks. You know how I feel about women with hyphenated names. Here are some prime examples of why it should never be done. | ||||
