With a few days under out belt, Obama's sermon from the mount - his speech on race - was little more than an eloquent rewrite of so many speeches and rants we've heard in the past ... look at the speech again and a nuanced reading will show you that Obama was laying the blame for Jeremiah Wright squarely at the feet of white people. Wright, in Obama's eyes, is merely a response - if a rather harsh one - to the crimes of white America. So now we see the real Barack Obama. Whatever is wrong with black America can be traced back to the actions of whites. Then we have Michelle Obama's Princeton thesis. The Obama campaign tried to hide it for a while --- but when the media got wind of the fact that access to the thesis had been shut off by Obama, the ploy was over. The thesis is 95 pages long ... and we haven't gone through it yet ... but an initial glance shows once again that whatever problems faced by black American are traceable to --- you guessed it - whites. Now I've read a synopsis which says that our possible future First Lady wrote that America was founded on "crime and hatred" and that whites are "ineradicably racist." I want to see those words for myself in the thesis .. but they do sound like they could come from someone who was never proud of her country until her husband saw success in his race for the presidency. Now I don't know about you, but I would not like the idea of a First Lady who says that America was founded on "crime and hatred." * We have combed through the entire thesis ... twice ... and we are still unable to verify these statements. If you have any insight, please let the Talkmaster know. I have a thought about Barrack's membership in Chicago's Trinity United Church of (Hate) Christ. As I understand it, Obama joined this church just about the time he was ginning up a political career. Perhaps Obama thought himself too white. Raised in large part by a white couple (his grandparents), attending prestigious private schools - where my sister was teaching, by the way - then Harvard, the Harvard law review - and all of that white stuff. Maybe he felt he needed to shore up his black credentials - get a little street cred --- so off we go to join the dominant black church. I suspect that Obama was searching for black votes at this church more than he was searching for God. You can see why someone would search for votes in an atmosphere of hatred - but God? It's been a helluva week ... the American people see Barack Obama a bit more clearly. They now see him as a man who can construct a bizarre moral equivalence between someone like Geraldine Ferraro and Jeremiah Wright .. someone who suggests that Obama's race has been a help in the campaign, and someone who shouts "God Damn America" from the pulpit and blames white America for AIDS. In all of this many don't see a man deserving of the Oval Office.
The Tax Foundation has released a new study. A study that will, no doubt, get little media attention. And why not? Well, because it may be a bit boring .. and because many on the left (and that would be the media) don't particularly want you to understand these things. After all .. the study flies directly in the face of the liberal agenda. This new study shows that most American states tax job providers at higher rates than any other developed country in the world. If you were not educated in government schools you will immediately see that this could be a problem. If you click on the link, it will show a state-by-state break down that adds each state's corporate taxes on top of the federal corporate tax rate. When you do this, it shows that half of the states in this country have a higher rate than any other nation. Even in states with fairly low state-level corporate taxes - states like Nevada, South Dakota, and Wyoming - the corporate tax rate is still higher than France and 25 other major countries. Take a gander:
The study comes to a not-so-shocking conclusion, if you listen to the Neal Boortz Show or read Nealz Nuze .. "If federal lawmakers are serious about making the U.S. corporate tax system more competitive globally, they will have to partner with state officials to lower the nation's overall corporate tax burden." Or -- here's a wild concept - enact the FairTax. In a related study by three prominent economists at the Tax Foundation, employees suffer most when their corporate employers are forced to pay high corporate taxes. This basically runs counter to the theories that have prevailed in American politics for decades ... that corporate taxes hurt investors. But this study found that workers bear 70% of the burden of corporate income taxes. The Department of Labor has released statistic of the number of cases of embezzled union dues. Guess what they found? The number of cases increased ... a lot ... over the last year. The Office of Labor Management Statistic found that the number of convictions of union embezzlement increased by 20% and the number of indictments increased by 39%. That brings a total of court-ordered restitution to $1,251,798. A spokesman for American Rights at Work says that the Department of Labor has created "excessive demands on labor unions" and has given corporate America a free pass. The spokesman accuses Labor Secretary Elaine Chou of "clear anti-union ideology." Yeah .. its all the Labor Department's fault.
A father in British Columbia is suing his son's second grade teacher for damaging his son's self esteem. This is apparently not an isolated case, but a growing trend among parents that are using the courts to challenge their children's education. But in this case, Kenneth H. Finklestein is suing his son's teacher for "intentional infliction of emotional distress." He says that the teacher failed to encourage his son's spelling, did not send home a daily homework list and displayed an unfinished poem written by his son in a school hallway. Mr. Finkelstein says that his son "suffered and will continue to suffer loss and damages." These damages include anguish, suffering, humiliation, embarrassment, anxiety, worry and loss of dignity. The teacher, Susan Rialp, "falsely created and attempted to reinforce artificial differences between his son and his peers and falsely asserted the son exhibits behavioural difficulties," according to this overprotective parent. The real wrongdoer here is the parent ... sending his child to the government to be educated.
You want another "inappropriate sign" story? This one also takes place in Florida ... what is up with you people in Florida lately? In Tampa, Florida a sign for a gentlemen's club has caused a neighborhood panic. Parents are upset with the club's sign featuring a scantily clad flat belly with the club's name "Bottoms Up" positioned conveniently above her bodacious bottom. So people started complaining to county code enforcement ... "this sign is gross ... it is vulgar ... you'll burn in hell" and all this nonsense. So the officers of Pinellas Park performed their patriotic duties and went to check out the sign of the almost-naked woman. And the officers did find something wrong with the sign. Yep. It violates government county codes. The flashing lights on the sign are considered a "distraction to drivers." The half-naked woman, however, is not. She can stay. I don't think this is what the residents of Pinellas Park had in mind. Gotta love it.
And from a more reasoned listener:
READING ASSIGNMENTS You want to see some real humiliation? That parent in Great Britain doesn't know what humiliation is. An aide of the McCain campaign has been suspended after sending out a YouTube link to a video about Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright. Geraldine Ferraro is upset with Barack Obama for comparing her to his own pastor Jeremiah Wright. Obama says that the war in Iraq is a drag on the economy ... and somehow this is John McCain's fault. The release of Hillary's schedule while in the White House may show that she was a "co-president." Hillary wants a $30 billion housing fund, $10 billion of which will go toward refinancing "unworkable mortgages." I've been telling you about this HBO series "John Adams." This person is suggesting that our government educated children, who know little of history, sit down and watch. When there is "financial turmoil," what is the proper solution? Government, government, government. Want to hear about the sad state of our government education system? Just take a look at graduation rates. Rather than having the taxpayers fork over $57,000 a year to keep a convicted sex offender in jail, the Australians decided to deport him. This article tries to explain why the number of burglaries is on the decline ... because nobody has anything of value in their home anymore? I've mentioned this before, but Rep. John Dingell wants to put a 50-cent tax increase on every gallon of gas. In other words, he wants to use the force of government to change American spending habits. The president of the Associated Press is now claiming that the United States is arresting journalists in Iraq in order to "control information." Yeah and 9/11 was an inside job. You'll be upset to hear that the government in Pinal County, Arizona has made it illegal for people to dance outdoors. This is much to the dismay of one small business owner. When a child is molested in a government school ... don't expect anyone to actually take responsibility for not doing anything about it. A violent felon was sentenced by a judge to attend Sunday services at a Baptist church. Watch ... they'll put him in the choir. After a four hour rampage, Toronto police finally caught up with the escaped cows that were apprehended while grazing on people's lawns ... and passing gas, which contributes to global warming. Bad cows. Why do cars hit motorcyclists? Try this test ... see how you do. Star Wars according to a 3-year-old. Too cute! | |||||
