| Wednesday, May 7, 2008 I'm spending a bit more time on therapy and exercises right now than creating program notes ... so we're just going to go with some random intemperate thoughts this morning and then crank up the mic. Obama a clear winner. He nails Hillary in North Carolina and she manages to pull out a three percent win in Indiana. Time for her to pull out. What's she waiting for? The vice-presidential spot from Barack? What kind of a fool would he be to put Hillary in the White House as No. 2? Hillary as the vice-presidential candidate is really all she has now. I'm just a bit weary of hearing about these "working class" voters. Who are they? I heard them described on Fox News as workers who make less than $50,000 a year. OK ... I guess I get it. If you make more than $50,000 a year you're not actually working. Nice little class warfare phrase there. We're talking Bill Ayers here. In Obama's words, "just a guy who lives in my neighborhood." Right. A guy who lives in his neighborhood and who likes to stomp on the American flag. There's a picture going around the Internet showing Ayers standing on an American flag. This was at the same time Ayers and Obama were serving together on some foundation board, and while Ayers was helping Obama with his state senate campaign. Help like that I wouldn't need.
Plans are almost complete to record my commencement speech before an audience sometime later this month. It will then be available on Comcast On Demand. After that, who knows? Some people aren't really looking forward to this ... get a look at his email I got from character:
Do you get the idea from his email address that he might be a college professor? READING ASSIGNMENTS
Nancy Pelosi wants another stimulus package. She says that Bush is "in denial" about the state of the economy. Hillary says that she wants to go after OPEC with anti-trust laws because "they can no longer be a cartel." Oh yeah? And why is that, Hillary? We had Newt Gingrich on the program yesterday. He is warning the GOP that it could be in for a real disaster this November. Here we have another fatal car accident at the hand of an illegal immigrant. How many people do they kill every day on our roads? What do you get when you combine teachers unions, government school district officials, and the loss of a $13 million tax payer grant ... government education. A Florida government school district has charged a substitute teacher with the blasphemous act of performing wizardry in the classroom. Seriously, folks. This is government education. Sounds like a turbo at work somewhere. The North Lauderdale City Commission in Florida is pushing a resolution to split Florida into two separate states, because South Florida is paying more in taxes than it receives. In Duval County, Florida 54% of government educated 10th graders fail the reading part of the FCAT. One grandmother wants "someone to be held accountable for what they have done to this child." How about you, lady, for putting the child in a government school. A man in California who promised to take his wife's last name sued the state because it would cost him more money to take his wife's name, than for her to take his. Here's a government outrage: A farmer in Pennsylvania has been slapped with a $4,000 for distributing raw milk to friends and neighbors, which is in violation of state laws that demand a permit in order to sell natural products. There must not be enough to do in Illinois, because one Congressman is concerned about the sexual exploitation of children in the virtual world Second Life. The former judge who lost the $54 million law suit against a dry cleaner is now suing to get his job back and to collect $1 million in "damages." In a Pakistani province, it is now forbidden for women to use cell phones. Four out of five children in Great Britain are not allowed to ride their bicycles to school because parents are afraid they might be hit by a car ... even though there were ten times more accidents last year involving cars than there were bicycles. A dad in Great Britain decided to throw his daughter a pirate-themed birthday party, which included flying a Skull and Crossbones flag on the front of the house. Now the local city commission is upset with the flag and threatening prosecution against the father. Can you imagine coming home to find a voicemail of your son in a firefight in Afghanistan? Yikes! If you thought those embarrassing photos from the distant past were long lost, you might just find them popping up on flickr. Remember, if you don't want to see it again shred and/or burn them. A warning for the squeamish - it's not as bad as Neal's knee, but it's still a little gross. Blast from the past: pamphlet from the 50's "Protection from the ATOMIC BOMB." | ||
