I'm not buying the poll. America today is an America of big government. This is the America of "what has the government done for me today." I would like to think - and in fact used to think -- that most Americans are truly Libertarian at heart. But then when you dangle in front of them these fancy entitlement programs and wealth envy rhetoric, they are like fat kids at McDonalds ... you can't resist temptation, because it all looks so darn good. The New York Times magazine has come up with a brilliant explanation as to why John McCain does not feel the same way about Vietnam as his buddies like John Kerry. Here is a description of why John McCain is a proud military veteran who did not come home and spit in the face of his fellow soldiers ...
This is just a lame liberal's attempt to rationalize how someone could have fought in Vietnam and still come back as a proud American soldier. See because to a liberal, there is no option of serving in Vietnam and actually believing that your mission served a greater purpose. John McCain was just lucky, I guess, because he spent so much time in a prisoner-of-war camp. But don't worry ... that is probably because McCain grew up in a military family. He has been steeped in this "dangerous" lifestyle ... right Tom Harkin?
Gee, nobody saw this one coming. Well ... not nobody. I saw it coming. How dense do these people really think we are? They are now saying that the administration's proposal "violates both logic and the law" because it does not address the primary threat to polar bears: global warming. In fact, environmentalists are upset that the polar bears were only listed as threatened. They really wanted them to be classified as endangered so that they could have even more power to regulate. As of right now, the current proposal offers to increase polar bear research and to work with Canada to help polar bears survive in the wild. But this, as we already knew, is not enough for the environmental whack jobs. Who knows how long it will be until the administration caves. Or if we get Barack Obama in the White House, I'm sure there will be no animal that will be able to survive the threat of global warming without government protection.
Fortney "Pete" Stark has stuck if foot in it again. This time he is upset by the presence of military men and women observing in the gallery of the House of Representatives. Here, for your reading pleasure, is the letter he sent to the Secretary of Defense about this horrible offense.
So for all of your soldiers who visited the House of Representatives that day, be looking forward to a love letter from Fortney Stark. Gawd. What a jerk. NEAL'S KNEE PIECES Today, Neal is grossing out people around the office with his jar of knee. See that stuff on the napkin? That's his old knee. Aren't you people lucky he shared? What you might not realize from the photo, is that he's also got a plate of breakfast by the coffee in the background there. Never a dull moment around here! We'll be nice and make this a click through so regular readers don't have to be grossed out if they don't want to be. READING ASSIGNMENTS The House has passed a bill that would allow the Justice Department to sue OPEC, subjecting oil producers including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela to the same antitrust laws that U.S. companies must follow. Obama seems to be changing his tune. Now Iran is a "grave" threat to the United States. Oh that's much better. The Messiah in search of a foreign policy. Obama says that he's not going to take money from federally registered lobbyists. So here's what that actually means in Obama's world. The White House dismissed the article that ran in the Jerusalem Post yesterday claiming that a US attack on Iran will happen before Bush leaves office. Democrats in Congress are gearing up for a fight over funding for a federal mortgage insurance fund and a trust fund for affordable housing. Sexism is apparently the only reason why some Hillary Clinton supporters believe she couldn't win the nomination. I could think of a few more reasons that have nothing to do with the fact that she is a female. Here is some good news ... John McCain standing up for lower taxes, free trade and the free market. Just when the United Nations thought it would be a good idea to come to the United States to do a little investigation into racism in our presidential campaign, the UN Secretary General wants to tighten the reins on anti-corruption and ethics investigations within the UN and even keep the results from those investigations from the general public. It looks like the war funding bill is going to be another pork fest. No real surprise there. Greenpeace wants industrialized nations to set up a $30 billion a year international fund to fight deforestation. When the government of New Jersey decided to regulate and mandate when it comes to individual health insurance policies, guess what happened? Prices went up ... way up. What's the difference between taxing a corporation like Microsoft and taxing an institution like Harvard? The liberal elite aren't too happy about this one. How about getting paid to do nothing ... this seems to be a trend among lobbyists in Washington.
On a government high school trip, a chaperone apparently sealed students into their hotel room with duct tape. Here's an update on our pathetic government schools in this country. But don't worry. I'm sure the one you send your children to is the exception. Iceland has been named the world's more peaceful nation. I think it is also the world's booziest nation. Parents in Great Britain weren't too thrilled to find stationery aimed at their young children covered in Playboy bunnies. Take a look at what the kids are wearing these days ... the poor Palestinians. | ||
