GLOBAL WARMING BILL

Rep. Edward Markey, a Democrat from Massachusetts, is the chairman of the House global warming panel. Next week he is going to introduce a bill that would cut emissions by 85% from 2005 levels. This exceeds any reduction in bills currently before the Senate. Markey's bill would cut emissions by 85% by 2050. He says that his bill would generate $8 trillion by auctioning off emissions allowances to polluters.

So .. what do we have here? An attempt to help our environment or a scheme to seize more wealth from American taxpayers? Yeah .. like that's a hard one to figure out.

Under Markey's scheme the government would collect money from businesses that pay for their emissions allowances. Then the government turns around and spends the money on new technologies like carbon capture and storage, retraining workers in "green-collar jobs" and helping people reduce their energy costs. "Helping people reduce costs" ... is that supposed to indicate more entitlement programs for the poor, poor pitiful poor who, we are told, just can't afford the costs of energy?

So how is this bill any different than the Lieberman-Warner legislation to be debated next week? Well for one, Markey's bill would not give those evil polluting businesses free emission allowances. Instead, his idea is to immediately have the government put a price on emissions in an auction. Markey wants to do this in order to force industries to work more quickly in investing in energy-efficient technologies. Oh and if the auction prices for allowances rose too high, Markey wants to use the government to review the market and recommend any necessary legislative fixes.

Keep in mind that Edward Markey is the chairman of the House global warming panel. The chairman of our global warming panel has this to say about your businesses, "The business community that has been polluting has to accept the responsibility that this is a price that has been paid for by the society as a whole."

Global warming is a hoax. These people can explain the warming on Mars or the climate change on Jupiter. I can only think of one greater hoax perpetrated on the American people, and that would be the idea that this country is supposed to be a Democracy.

If we don't rebel against this idiotic global warming hoax soon we may watch the destruction of our free market economy by the anti-capitalist environmental movement.

ANOTHER GAFFE FOR OBAMA

This is just another small but poignant example of Barack Obama's lack of understanding in the realm of foreign policy. Right on Barack Obama's very own webpage he has written the following statement: "We have not exhausted our non-military options in confronting the Iranian threat; in many ways, we have yet to try them. Obama is the only major candidate who supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization."

However, it took the Wall Street Journal to point out how ridiculous this "incentive" truly is ... Amir Taheri writes, "Perhaps Mr. Obama is unaware that one of Mr. Ahmadinejad's first acts was to freeze Tehran's efforts for securing WTO membership because he regards the outfit as 'a nest of conspiracies by Zionists and Americans.'"

So it looks like these "talks" and "incentives" to join with America are really going to work for a mad dictator. But this is what we can expect from a Barack Obama presidency.

Obama needs to study a bit more.

SUBWAY RESPONDS

First ... check out this bit in yesterday's Nealz Nuze about an essay contest being sponsored by Subway Sandwich Shops.

Now that you're up to speed, yesterday we received many emails yesterday telling us that Subway restaurants had officially issued an apology for not including homeschoolers in its essay contest. For those of you who are interested, here is the response.

"We at SUBWAY restaurants place a high value on education, regardless of the setting, and have initiated a number of programs and promotions aimed at educating our youth in the areas of health and fitness.

"We sincerely apologize to anyone who feels excluded by our current essay contest. Our intention was to provide an opportunity for traditional schools, many of which we know have trouble affording athletic equipment, to win equipment. Parents who home school their children make a tremendous commitment which we greatly respect, and can provide a terrific education. Our intent was certainly not to exclude home schooled children from the opportunity to win prizes and benefit from better access to fitness equipment.

"To address the inadvertent limitation of our current contest and provide an opportunity for even more kids to improve their fitness, we will soon create an additional contest in which home schooled students will be encouraged to participate. When the kids win, everyone wins!"

Looks like the people at Subway were listening when some of you contacted them.

OFFENDING MUSLIMS

We have another story of Muslim workers refusing to wear their company mandated uniforms because it is offensive to their religion. This time it is Mission Foods, which makes tortillas. Mission Foods in Minnesota has been accused of religious intolerance for requiring six female Muslim workers to wear uniforms. Imagine the horror. The uniforms include pants and a shirt, but the Muslim women are upset because they feel the pants are too revealing.

Because they refused to wear the uniforms, these six Muslims workers were fired. That, of course, is the proper way to handle this. Naturally this meant that the Minnesota chapter of CAIR had to get involved. Valerie Shirley, a spokeswoman for CAIR says that wearing tight fitting pants is like being naked to these women. Now CAIR is fighting to get their jobs reinstated.

Here's a concept ... these jobs do not belong to these Muslim women. The jobs belong to the employer. If the women don't want to wear the uniform, go find a job that will allow you to wear all of the loose-fitting Muslim garb. These companies should not have the bend the rules just to appease six Muslim women who are too afraid that they might show off what they've been hiding under all that clothing. There is a reason these companies do not like loose-fitting clothing. It's about safety. It's not like the company was asking them to come to work in bikinis. Nobody forced them to work for this tortilla company. Go somewhere else. It's as simple as that.

DELTA FLIGHT ATTENDANTS ... A SMART BUNCH

And just why would that be? Because they held a little union vote, and voted to remain non-union. They will not be joining the Association of Flight Attendants - CWA. This is the second time in a few years that these flight attendants have said no to unions. Trouble is .. the pro-union attendants can keep bringing the vote back time after time ... and if it ever does pass there is not a chance in hell that they would ever be able to change their minds. The union, of course, is saying that Delta did all sorts of nefarious things to keep the flight attendants from voting. What do you expect? After all - the real reason for the vote couldn't possibly be that flight attendants don't want to pay union dues, could it?

ATLANTA RIDE FOR KIDS

Atlanta area motorcycle riders, here's a great excuse to get the rubber on the road: the 2008 Atlanta Ride for Kids to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation on Sunday, June 1st. Join hundreds of other motorcyclists for a scenic ride through the rural countryside north of Atlanta. You'll have a great time while raising funds for the PBTF's medical research and family support programs!

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Hillary wrote a little letter to superdelegates saying that she can still win.

Here's a ray of hope. Fox News Channel finished first in the ratings for the 77th month in a row.

The House Judiciary Committee says that it will arrest Karl Rove if he is doesn't testify about his role in the firing of nine UN attorneys.

Police in Portland are asking for an apology from Barack Obama rally organizers after they set up Porta-Potties on top of a memorial honoring fallen officers.

Finally. Oil companies fighting back against the ant-capitalist environmental movement.

Like most liberals, Barack Obama will do anything to protect the interests of unions. But how much is that going to cost us Americans?

OK ... so now we know how many lions one South African can feed. Yeah, I know. I'm going to hate myself for this one later.

How is this Lieberman-Warner Global Climate Change Legislation going to affect the jobs and economy in your state? Here's a breakdown.

Although John McCain has rejected the endorsement of Rev. Hagee, Joe Lieberman has decided to speak at one of Hagge's upcoming events.

Some British journalist and "activist" tried to make a citizen's arrest of John Bolton but failed when he was blocked by two heavily-built security guards.

When parents send their five-year-old son to his government school with a tape recorder in his pocket ... you'll be happy to know that his teacher has since been permanently suspended for the things that were caught on tape.

Here we go with more government waste and abuse. This taxpayer funded law firm felt the need to spend your money on alcohol, interest free loans for its employees and $750,000 for an elusive IT consultant.

Think gas prices are bad in the United States? Check out the prices in Europe ...

A Manhattan lawyer is suing Delta airlines for $1 million for having a bad flying experience and causing his elderly mother "emotional trauma."

Here's a little chart that shows which states allow workers comp for illegal aliens.

The Malaysian government has decided that it is going to respond directly to bloggers and other forms of "new media."
