OBAMA'S FIRST 100 DAYS IN OFFICE

Barack Obama apparently had a fundraiser in Denver on Wednesday night. At the fundraiser he indicated that he would use "the grace period" of the first 100 days in office to pass a national health insurance plan. So you better start packing your bags sooner rather than later ... this time next year we could have universal healthcare in this country - just another name for nationalized medicine. Are you ready for your waiting line? Are you ready to be arrested for using your own money to hire a doctor of your choice? You're going to love this stuff, trust me.

Another 100 day priority would be to send a "signal to the world" on energy and climate change. Sounds like a great way to start off a four year presidency.

WELL HERE'S AN IDEA ... TOO BAD IT WON'T WORK

As of right now, 85% of the U.S. coastline is off-limits to energy production because of (anti-capitalist) environmentalists. Most of this includes huge reserves off the Florida coast. The problem is that the politicians (Mel Martinez and Bill Nelson in particular) are not willing to become a part of the solution. But here's an idea that is so logical, there is no way in hell Florida politicians will ever consider it.

Representative Sue Myrick of the House Energy and Commerce panel wants to let coastal states decide whether drilling would be environmentally risky. In other words, don't let drilling be stopped on a national level ... let the individual states decide. She has introduced a bill called the Deep Ocean Energy Resources Act. It would essentially give coastal states that want offshore drilling the power to opt out of the federal Interior Department's offshore restrictions. There's only one problem with that ... what if coastal state don't want to drill. What if they are most concerned about the view their residents will have from their beach condos than actually becoming part of the solution?

Of course, there are incentives in Myrick's bill. She proposed letting states in on federal revenues from leases. It would also give states the ability to control energy production up to 100 miles off their shores and extend their territorial waters.

So we'll leave you with some information from Investor's Business Daily about America's energy security.

• Less than one one-thousandth of a percent (0.001%) of the 7 billion-plus barrels of oil that Washington has allowed to be produced offshore over the past 25 years has been spilled, according to the Interior Department.
• A whopping 63% of petro pollution in North American seas comes not from offshore rigs, but from natural seepage from the sea floor. Source: National Academy of Sciences.
• There hasn't been a major oil spill from an offshore well since 1969 even though rigs since then have been lashed by Katrina and other major hurricanes.

IRAN'S MISSING MONEY ... LOTS OF MONEY

Iranian law requires that the money be paid by Ahmadinejad's government into Iran's central bank. Once the money is there, the government can request withdrawals for projects. But the problem is, Ahmadinejad has not been paying the money to the central bank and no one knows where it has gone.

In perhaps the most astounding revelation, "many suspect that the money has been used to finance corrupt activities of politicians surrounding the president, or the president himself." Gee, ya think?

But guess what? This isn't the first time since Ahmadinejad has taken control that this has happened. During the 2007-2008 financial year, $2 billion was used to import gasoline without any approval from the Iranian parliament.

What's your guess. Swiss bank accounts, financing terrorism or paying for Iran's nuclear program.

NO UNIFORMS FOR GRADUATION

A government high school in Cleveland has denied the request to allow two students to wear their military uniforms on stage at their high school graduation.

The students are Will McDonnell and Tony Workman, and they both attend Chardon High School. McDonnell is an active duty Marine and Workman is an Army National Guardsman. McDonnell took extra classes in order to meet his graduation requirements early so he could attend a 13-week Marine Boot Camp in February. The other did a 10 week summer Boot Camp.

The principal of the government school says he will not allow them to wear the uniforms because he doesn't want to open the door to similar requests from members of other organizations. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a bit of a difference between being a soldier that is willing to die for your country and being a Boy Scout or a member of a motorcycle gang.

The boys have been told that if they don't wear their robe and cap, they can't walk on stage at graduation. McDonnell says that's fine, they will wear the uniforms anyway and simply stand in their seats when their names are called.

Good for them.

THIS KID WILL TURN OUT OKAY

Barack Obama beats John McCain ... in a European vote. Like I care. Note, please, that polls show most Europeans want a weaker United States.

Here's the most obvious piece of research for today ... the Project for Excellence in Journalism has found that John McCain is treated worse by the media than Barack Obama.

Senator Tom Coburn is really on a tear lately and I couldn't agree with him more ... Republicans deserve to lose Congressional seats this election.

In Dallas they've had a ban on renting apartments to illegal aliens. Well a judge has now ruled the ban unconstitutional.

Government officials out in Weed, California won't let a small brewery use $10,000 worth of bottle caps because the caps reference the word "weed."

A high school principal in Dearborn, Michigan has fired a coach after getting complaints from Muslim parents that the wrestling coach was trying to convert their children to Christianity.

Schools in rural Minnesota are switching to a four day school week in order to save on gas for school buses.

More people seem to be switching to scooters in efforts to save on gas.

New York State will recognize legal same-sex marriages performed in other states.

You'll be happy to know that the government of a town in Long Island, New York will now allow its citizens to hang their clothes on clotheslines.

Air ambulances are having a tough time creating policies to deal with lardass patients.
