Just yesterday I was setting myself up for a little "I told you so." There is a street down in Miami that will be renamed Barack Obama Avenue. And you just wait for the activists to cry "racism!" if your town refuses to rename a street in honor of Barack Obama.
Anyway, now get this report out of Atlanta ... since Barack Obama was elected, the number of hate crimes is on the rise. That is according to a civil rights group. Hundreds of incidents of abuse and intimidation have occurred since November 4th, and they seem to have been motivated by racial hatred. However most of them have not involved violence. Now this report comes from the Southern Poverty Law Center ... so I'm skeptical. Are we having more incidents? Or are more being reported. Or are more ordinary indicants being categorized as hate crimes? I don't like the concept of "hate crimes" anyway. If it's a crime, it's a crime. Punish the perp. You punish these people for what they did ... not for what they were thinking when they did it.
