| Wednesday, September 24, 2008 And just who was it that killed a Freddie and Fannie reform bill a few years ago? Why, that would be Democrats. And who was it that was saying everything was cool with Freddie and Fannie? Barney Frank; who is not, by the way, a Republican. And who has been pushing lenders to make loans to unqualified borrowers for two decades? Democrats again. Still, the message doesn't get out. Could that possibly be because of the media love affair with The Chosen One? Just yesterday, Hillary Clinton said that Barack Obama "is best suited to straighten out the country's economic problems." Question ... what in the wide wide world of balance sheets is she basing this on? What makes Hillary so sure that Barack Obama is the best candidate to handle the economy? What has he ever handled in his entire life? (Wait, don't answer that!) This is coming from a woman who said that "once we get through this immediate crisis," the country should look at some Great Depression-era type of governmental entity to deal with it. I'll tell you what came out of Great Depression politics ... big government. Lots of government. Government dependency. This is exactly what the Democrats want. They are viewing this entire debacle as a golden opportunity to increase the size of government and expand dependency. Now is the time for you to rely on their party - and their savior, Barack Obama - to lead you out of this crisis and right onto the path of greater government dependency. And it all comes down to one thing, and that is power.
Just to show you what a fair and balanced kinda guy I am, here are Barack Obama's conditions for this $700 billion bailout. Some I agree with. Some I do not. The first of Obama's demands says that the government should make the taxpayers help other Americans who are facing home mortgage foreclosures. In other words ... take from those who have to give to those who have not. Don't let the market chose the winners and losers - that's Obama's job. Obama also declared that top management (those evil CEOs) will have to "pay a price for their poor leadership." What exactly does he mean by that? Criminal prosecution? The CEOs are hired by shareholders ... and it is up to the shareholders through their boards of directors to mete out punishment. Here's another one ... the American taxpayers must be rewarded for financing the bailout. Hard to disagree with this one. There should be a process by which we get out money back ... with interest. The trouble here is that it will be the government that gets the money and it won't make its way back to the taxpayers ... the people to be rewarded will be the non-taxpayers on the receiving end of government wealth redistribution. And this is one that I can agree with, the government program must have independent oversight. No-brainer. Obama also disagrees with the current plan to allow the Treasury Secretary to essentially become a banking czar. I railed on this yesterday on the program. Giving this much power to one person, no matter how competent they may be or which party they represent, is a dangerous road to follow. What happens if you get a Barney Frank in the driver's seat ...
And excuse me .. but did they really have TV when FDR was running the show? Sarah Palin is not making any more friends with the mainstream media right now. The latest brouhaha happened yesterday when reporters and journalists were threatening to boycott the UN conference because Sarah Palin's aides were denying them access to Palin's meetings with world leaders. After protesting, the reporters were reinstated and the campaign labeled it a "miscommunication." Is it worse to have bad press from the mainstream media or no press at all? I guess that is something that the media is really struggling with right now ... READING ASSIGNMENTS
Here's an article about how Bill Ayers became an "educator" ... and what exactly that means. Only liberal bomb throwers can become educators, by the way. Ron Paul on the bailout. Looks like he might have this thing pretty well figured out. Many of his supporters are still nutjobs. Now that we are in a financial crisis, Barack Obama says that he might have to delay his government spending programs. You want some free market solutions for our financial markets? Read this article by the president of the Heritage Foundation. House Republicans had a thing or two to say to Dick Cheney yesterday about the mortgage bailout. The New York Daily News dressed up a comedian to look like Sarah Palin and sent her out onto the streets of New York. The result? "You're hot! But I hope you lose." Well here's one good piece of news thanks to the economy ... the number of illegal immigrants has declined. Why can't Obama woo union workers? It's because of his race, of course! Anything negative that happens to The Chosen One is because he's black. We have a global warming scare for you ... scientists have discovered a "methane time bomb" under the arctic seabed! I've got your methane time bomb right here. The Department of Education says that a 5-year-old is not supposed to get off a government school bus unless an adult is waiting. The wussification continues ... Homeland Security is now testing software in airports that has the ability to read your mind. Researchers have outlined your geographic personality based on where you live in the United States. Muslims in a town in Great Britain are protesting to have the government strip the alcohol license of their local supermarket because the idea of alcohol being sold is offensive to them. Maybe they should just send in a suicide bomber. A government outrage from Great Britain ... clowns at a UK circus are no longer allowed to play their trumpets without getting a license from the government. This is just heartbreaking ... an elephant escaped from a circus, wandered onto a busy highway in Mexico, was hit by a bus and died. Why in the world do these circuses need elephants anyway? | ||||
