The Obama administration is very busy lately .. trying to take over our healthcare, dithering over Afghanistan, spending your tax dollars at record rates and putting your children and grandchildren into debt so deep they'll barely be able to see daylight at high noon. Now we have something new to add to Obama's agenda: He's intimidating mortgage companies into reducing payment for homeowners. Today the administration plans to announce a campaign to pressure mortgage companies to reduce mortgage payments. Michael S. Barr, Treasury's assistant secretary for financial institutions says, "The banks are not doing a good enough job ... Some of the firms ought to be embarrassed, and they will be."
That's exactly what the government plans to do: embarrass them. Mr. Barr says that the government will try to "use shame as a corrective, publicly naming institutions that move too slowly to permanently lower mortgage rates."
OK .. you may not have much of a problem with this. So let me tell you where this is going. If someone doesn't reign in this dangerous man and his sycophants we're going to get to the point where you have to have stone-cold perfect credit to qualify for a mortgage in this country. Mortgage companies simply are not going to make loans on terms favorable to the borrowers when they know that Obama and his gang are waiting to change the terms of those mortgages on a political whim.
