States across the nation are gearing up for a battle with Washington over healthcare mandates. If and when it happens, lawmakers in ten states ... and that number seems to be growing by the minute ... are creating state constitutional amendments to outlaw the health insurance mandate.
So then, not only would be have a debate about healthcare but we would have a debate about states' rights versus the federal government. If our founding fathers (I'm sorry, did I say "fathers"? I meant to say framers ... ) saw how large and far-reaching our federal government had become they would be sickened. But large government is the friend of Democrats, and the Democrats are the party in charge.
So do the states stand a chance? Constitutional scholars don't think so. But what it would do is slow down the process and cause major delays for any healthcare reform.
Oh ... and remember. The very use of the phrase "state's rights" is racist. You probably knew that anyway.
