I saw this statistic over the weekend and I was scared. Once I tell you the statistic, I think you will understand why. The latest Rasmussen poll shows that 29% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of Barack Obama's handling of the presidency. Frankly .. the main concern here is that you can go out there and find 29% of the American public who approve of this guy. That's more than scary. If you want to accept the idea that all blacks will support Obama no matter what - and that certainly is not the case - then you're at about 15%. You still have 14% to go. The explanation would be that these are the people who's lives or livelihood depend on the government's ability and willingness to use force to transfer wealth and grand favors to protected constituencies. If you're among this 29% ask yourself ... and be honest about it ... does your support for Obama rest in some measure on the government's ability to use force to accomplish its, and your goals?
Moving right along ... remember back in 2008 when Barack Obama made it really "cool" to be a Democrat again? Those times are changing. New data from the Gallup poll found that the Democrats have their smallest advantage in public party affiliation in five years. This is not good news for Democrats, leading up to the elections in November. Can't say I'm all that torn up about that. The Gallup poll shows that 46% of Americans currently identify themselves as Democrats while 45% of Americans identify as Republicans. This is the lowest gap we've seen between parties since 2005 when the parties were tied. Now, one thing that tipped the scales for Barack Obama in the last election was the independent voters. Lately, independent voters have been jumping ship from Democrat support and the Republicans are picking up their losses. The goal for the Republicans: don't screw this up.
One more interesting poll to add to the mix. Conducted by Harris Interactive, this poll asked people in the US, Spain, France, Britain and Germany "who are the most popular world leaders?" The results ... 77% named Barack Obama as the most popular world leader. He slightly edges out the Dalai Lama and Hillary Clinton. The least popular leaders were Moammar Gadhafi of Libya, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Chinese President Hu Jintao.
Again .. I want to remind you that the people of France, Spain, Britain and Germany were telling pollsters just two years ago that they wanted to see a weaker United States. Would a U.S. leader who gave them exactly want they wanted be popular? You figure that one out.
