OK .. here's the quote. Are you ready for it? Here is how a liberal, like Paul Krugman of the New York Times, views taxes.
We need to pinch pennies these days. Don't you know we have a budget deficit? For months that has been the word from Republicans and conservative Democrats, who have rejected every suggestion that we do more to avoid deep cuts in public services and help the ailing economy. But these same politicians are eager to cut checks averaging $3 million each to the richest 120,000 people in the country.
Amazing .. isn't it? You do know what uber-lefty Krugman is talking about, don't you? He's talking about the money that these evil rich people earn that the government is going to allow them to actually keep if the Bush tax cuts are extended. In the mind of Krugman if the government allows someone to keep money that they have worked for and earned that equates to the government actually cutting a check to that person. To adopt this mindset you have to start with the premise that all wealth belongs to the state .. and that the government decides how that wealth is to be distributed.
Golly! Somehow that all sounds vaguely familiar!
