Here's another story I found in my stack .. one that needs to be put into a nice plastic sheet protector so I will be sure never to throw it away. The date is also 2006.
Codie Stott was a 14-year-old teenager at the Harrop Fold High School in Manchester, England. She was scheduled to take part in a tutorial session with five other students. There was a problem, though. The five other students were Asians. Codie went to the teacher and told her that she would like to change groups because the other members of her group were speaking a language she could not understand. The teacher screamed back at Codie, telling her that she was a racist and was going to "get done" by the police. The police officer stationed at theschool took Codie Stott to the police station where she was placed under arrest ... mug shot, fingerprints and all. The London Daily Mail says she was held in a cell for three-and-a-half hours before she released. When the media got a hold of this story it was decided that charges would not be brought.
