While our fearless imperial federal government strives to take over the healthcare industry in our country, Great Britain is suffering with the consequences of its nationalized healthcare system. Just this week, an independent inquiry was released that found "shocking" standards of care at an NHS hospital. The deficiencies were so wide-spread and fundamental that they are not considered isolated incidents.
Just last year, a report from the Healthcare Commission determined that the emergency care at this NHS trust was appalling and "patients would have died as a consequence of the deficiencies it found."
Why have conditions managed to get worse in hospitals like this, and across Great Britain? Rationing. In 2007 they had to make budget cuts and so the government decided to cut staff, which led to poorer care and worsening conditions.
I don't know about you, but this is not the type of healthcare I would choose if I maintained my freedom to make my own healthcare decisions. That freedom is quickly evaporating and today during this summit we will see it happening right before our eyes.
