You do know, don't you, that The Community Organizer is holding his little dog-and-pony show today. He calls it a health care summit. The purpose here is to bring some Republicans to the table ... listen to a few ideas ... reject them out of hand ... move ahead with the Democrat plan while accusing the Republicans of not wanting to participate in a bipartisan deal.
This Tasmanian Cluster&%# starts today at around 10:00. It is supposed to last six hours. What can we expect? A lot of finger-pointing and little in the way of results. C'mon, folks ... the Democrats have been waiting to seize control of our health care for decades. They have resurrected this legislation from a near-death experience following the Scott Brown election, and this they have done knowing full-well that a majority of Americans don't like it and don't want it.
Before we get to some of the specifics ... I'm just wondering how many of you would rather see Obama hold a jobs summit today rather than a health care summit. There are many times more people out there suffering for lack of a job than there are suffering for a lack of health care.
Leading up to this summit, Obama proposed his ideas on healthcare reform. The Republicans have managed to debunk a lot of the claims and promises from the Democrats. Let's see what they have to say ..... from the Republicans in the House Ways and Means Committee:
Myth #1: Insurance premiums will decrease
White House says:
But the facts say:
Myth #2: If you like the coverage you have, you can keep it
White House says:
But the facts say:
Myth #3: Seniors' Medicare benefits are protected
White House says:
But the facts say:
Myth #4: Many small businesses will receive tax breaks
White House says:
But the facts say:
Myth #5: Health spending is capped for every American
White House says:
But the facts say:
Myth #6: Those without access to employer-provided health coverage will get tax credits to purchase coverage on their own
White House says:
But the facts say:
Myth #7: Tens of millions of Americans will receive a tax credit to purchase health care
White House says:
But the facts say:
