BACK TO NATIONAL SECURITY

Previous Posts

By Neal Boortz

National security kinda fell off the radar map, replaced by the last-minute healthcare push, the Senate race in Massachusetts and the earthquake in Haiti. Not that all of these things aren't important, but let's not forget that we are at war. So what's the latest with our national security and the TSA?

Well you will remember that our TSA is still lacking a leader. That would be because Obama's nominee to head the TSA, Erroll Southers, has been blocked from confirmation by Republicans who are concerned that he will support collective bargaining for of TSA workers.

But here is another reason why Republicans may have their reservations about Southers. Maybe this guy ... the guy to head our Transportation Security Administration ... doesn't understand exactly what he is up against. During an interview back in 2008, Southers was asked whether there were groups inside the US that pose a danger to our national security. Here's what Southers had to say:

"Domestically speaking, a large part, most of the groups we have here in the United States, are white supremacists groups, World Church of the Creator, National Alliance, Aryan Nations. There are some black separatist groups ... What's interesting about those groups is you find that they are usually either Christian identity groups and/or groups that really have a foothold in our correctional or prison systems in the way of radicalization and recruiting."

Okay, fair enough. But here's the next question: "Which home-grown terrorist groups pose the greatest danger to the U.S.?"

"Most of the domestic groups that we have to pay attention to here are white supremacist groups. They're anti-government and in most cases anti-abortion."

Yeah .. this is the guy we need running the TSA. A typical Obama appointment. Remember Napolitano's report on the threat from servicemen returned from Iraq and Afghanistan?
