CLEANING OUT THE BRIEFCASE

Previous Posts

By Neal Boortz

These are some of the stories that I have yet to cover this week, but would make for excellent discussion. So if one of them sparks your interest, pick up and phone and let's talk 'bout it!

A "community group" in Fresno, California wants to silence conservative talk radio, calling it "hate speech" and claiming that is contributes to "actual acts of violence."

An 88 year old Navy Veteran is told by his apartment complex to remove the American flag he has hanging outside his front door. The management company says that it "violates policy" and had the maintenance crew remove the brackets for the flag poles. Update: Looks like there was such an outcry, the man can keep his flag!

Usually I love a good DRT story, but this one is tough. Thomas Wortham IV survived two rounds in Iraq, but he couldn't survive Chicago. Serving as a Chicago police officer, Wortham was fatally shot outside his parents' home on Chicago's South Side. He was killed by thugs who were trying to steal his new motorcycle he had bought for himself as a coming-home present. The only glimmer of good news from this story is this ... Wortham's father, Stewart Wortham, managed to shoot both of the men robbing his son. One of those men was DRT. How is that gun ban working out for you, Chicago?

Apparently Rep. Hank Johnson is no longer worried about Guam capsizing. He has moved on to more important things ... like federal legislation for more gun restrictions at airports.

Physics professor Jonathan Katz was selected by the Department of Energy to be on an elite team of scientists working on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. He has since been removed from the team. Why? Because of his "controversial views" on homosexuality, global warming and "challenging the value of the diversity movement." What does any of that have to do with his ability to help in the Gulf oil spill?

Ever heard of the Twitter feed "[Stuff] my Dad says" only the word ain't really "stuff"? Well CBS is turning this concept into a comedy reality series. Don't ask me how, I don't get paid to figure those things out. But parents groups are now complaining about the title. They are upset because the title will read something like "*$%# My Dad Says" and their precious little snowflakes may figure out that the symbols are referring to a bad word.

A Wisconsin bar owner lights an Obama bust on fire. Next day the bar gets a visit from the Secret Service. Gee, sure hope the Secret Service doesn't see my Obama caganer.

Tennessee wants to pass legislation that requires new voters to show proof of citizenship when they register to vote, but the state attorney general says it would violate a federal law meant to get more people to vote.

A ninth grade government school student in West Haverstraw, New York was suspended for wearing rosary beads to school. The principal claims his actions "endangered the safety, health, morals or welfare of himself or others."

A Nebraska state soccer championship is now being called "the green card" incident. Some Lincoln East fans threw handmade green cards into the air celebrating their school's victory over Omaha South High. The students who threw the cards are facing suspension and it is being called an act of racism.

If you are going to hire someone to go out into the community and knock on doors, don't you think you would run their name through the sex offender registry before you send them a knockin'? Apparently not if you work for the US census.

Gotta love it when Muslim women stand up for their rights against the oppressive enforcers of their religion. In this case, a Saudi woman beats up a "religious policeman," after he questions her for proof that the man she is with in public is husband.

I love it when liberal college students think they have all the answers, and then a calm, level-headed proceeds to put their little know-it-all butt in their place! A student at UCSD (I assume that's California) tries to trap conservative commentator David Horowitz.

An example of when government power goes to your head. A councilman in Britain fined a woman £50 for cleaning up the wrong dogsqueeze.

A city in North Carolina wants to enforce building codes .. on historical slave cabins.
