Here are a few random stories floating around the Boortz Briefcase (that and a Walther PPK) They will make for some good fun, so have at it!
A Hooters waitress is placed on probation for gaining weight. First question: Should Hooters be allowed to decide if its waitresses are too fat or too skinny to wear their uniforms? Now the waitress is suing Hooters for violating her civil rights by discriminating on the basis of her weight. Does she have a case or is this an instance where we need a loser pays system? The waitress claims to be 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 132.5 pounds, which is well within the medically acceptable range. Are we putting too much pressure on women to be too skinny? Besides ... doesn't it all depend on just where the weight gain is?
Can overweight people sit in an airplane's exit row? On some airlines, if you require one of those seatbelt extenders, you are ineligible to sit in an exit row. Airlines prohibiting lardasses to sit in exit rows say that the belt extenders could be a tripping hazard. As a customer, would you let an airline's seatbelt policy affect your decision to fly with that carrier? I'm totally on board with this. I don't want to see a news story someday about rescue workers finding some corpulent customer wedged into the over-the-wing exit window of a 737 and 50 or so charred bodies trapped inside. Look ... airlines are charging you for checked bags, right? They should also charge you for that spare tire you bring on board.
A Muslim couple say they want to "change the narrative" of 9/11 by building a mosque just 600 feet from where the World Trade Center once stood. Good idea? Bad idea? Should this be allowed and who has the right to decide? By the way ... this peace loving Muslim couple has a desire to see the spread of Sharia Law in the United States. This is nothing less than an in-your-face slap at this country and the people who lost friends and family members in the ISLAMIC attack on America nine years ago.
Watch this video of a woman professor giving a commencement speech at the University of Arizona College. She starts to criticize the Arizona illegal immigration law. Listen to the crowd's response.
