Obama versus ... Bush?

No, Jeb Bush isn’t running for president. I am talking about George W. Bush. Apparently the strategy for winning 2012 is to essentially run against George W. Bush. That is according to Harry Reid. Heck … why are we so worried on nominating a GOP candidate if Obama isn’t even going to bother running against him!

Anyway, here’s how it went yesterday on the Senate floor … from Politico:

After occupying the White House for three years, Democrats will try to blame everyone but themselves, including the Bush administration, for the sour economy and jobs crisis, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Wednesday in a floor exchange with Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Reid, a Nevada Democrat and close ally of President Barack Obama, conceded that McConnell wasn’t completely off base.

I do think the presidential election will be based on what took place in the Bush administration, how we tried to recover from that, how things have been exacerbated because of the tsunami and European debt crisis,” Reid said.

Notice that Harry Reid says “how we tried to recover.” That, my friends, is an acknowledgement that their recovery efforts have failed. But clearly, he doesn’t understand why. He thinks that if it wasn’t for tsunamis or Europe or ATMs or tornados, that our economy would be roaring back, thanks to the Democrats.

Here’s the point that somehow has to be pressed by the Republicans in this election: Obama will be running an almost wholly negative campaign because he has absolutely NO record of success to run on. Oh … I’m wrong? Obama has been a great president? He has a tremendous record of major accomplishments? Super … I hope you’ll call me on the air to make your case. And don’t tell me that ObamaCare was his major big deal. Look at the record:

  • Obama said you could keep your health insurance if you liked it. You can’t.

  • Obama said it health insurance premiums would go down. Then didn’t, and they won’t.

  • Obama said it would reduce health care costs. It hasn’t

  • Obama said we would like it after it was passed. We don’t.

With every new poll ObamaCare becomes more unpopular .. so that’s not the record he will be running on.

Here’s how pathetic Obama’s record really is. I was watching Alan Colmes on TV yesterday. Poor Alan .. a nice guy, really .. but his job descripltion is to defend the policies of Barack Obama. He’s one of the token Fox liberals and there’s a role that has to be paid there … so when he appears on a Fox TV show he knows what he has to do; Defend Obama. So what does he do? Colmes tells us that “Obama got bin Laden.” How sad. Three years in office and that’s pretty much all he can come up with? Again … Obama did not “get” bin Laden. He got the hell out of the way and didn’t take any action that prevented the Navy seals from getting bin Laden. Obama’s big accomplishment, then, was that he didn’t screw up a Seal Team operation to nail our most hated Islamic terrorist enemy. Wow! Let’s reelect him! Maybe he’ll stand aside and let other people do their jobs as well. But wait … we know he won’t.
