And I’m referring here to a grip on government spending.  The realistic answer here is that we had better get government spending under control or our Republic, as we have known it, is toast.  We simply cannot survive with the explosion in the size of government we have been experiencing for decades.  The growth of government may thrill Democrats, moochers, parasites those who live off of them … but it doesn’t bring comfort for those who appreciate the old-time values of liberty, freedom, self reliance and personal responsibility.

I’m not launching into a long rant here … most of us understand the fix we’re in.  I just made a note to myself yesterday that I want to share on the Nuze today:

Reforming entitlement spending must begin with a massive public education project.  The American people need to understand two things:

  1. You have no right to health care.  It’s your body and you’re responsibility.
  2. You and you alone are responsible for paying for your retirement.

Once these pesky little facts are pressed on the American people we might make some progress toward restricting government, lowering spending and encouraging freedom. We need a president … a leader that can effectively deliver that message to the American voter --- without sending senior citizens into a panic.  Do you think Barack Obama could ever be up to that task?
