The Republican House has passed a bill to fund the Imperial Federal Government through much of next year.  Now it’s up to the Senate.  But wait!  Suddenly Harry Reid is blocking the bill!  Now why would he do that? Because the White House is asking him to do that … that’s why.  And why would the White House want the bill to fund the operation of our government blocked?

Take it step-by-step:

  1. Republicans pass the omnibus spending pill in the House.
  2. The Democrats then pass the bill in the Senate.  A government shutdown is averted.
  3. But wait!  The Republicans have also passed a bill extending the payroll tax cut!
  4. But that bill contains the provision to expedite the Keystone Pipeline.  Obama has promised his eco-radical supporters he will block that pipeline.
  5. If the bill funding the government past Friday is passed, the Republicans will simply leave town for the holidays.  Let Obama decide whether to sign it or not.  The ball, and the blame would be in his court.
  6. If the Republicans leave town that leaves the payroll tax cut in the hands of the Democrat Senate and the Democrat president.  Pass it and sign it and go home, and the payroll tax cut is extended.  Sit on it and taxes go up on January 1st, and the blame will rest squarely with Obama and the Democrats.
  7. Obama’s way out?  Tell Harry Reid to hold up the funding bill until the Republicans give in on the pipeline and, in the process, give Obama his victory.

Obama is quite a piece of work, isn’t he?
