DOES YOUR STATE HAVE A JOHN OXENDINE ??

This story might not light any fires across the nation ... but for Georgian's it's causing a bit of a buzz.

We had an Insurance Commissioner here for 16 years named John Oxendine. Oxendine was, to say the least, a rather curious person. His job as insurance commissioner came with the title of State Fire Marshall. Who knew? Well, Oxendine did, and that afforded him the opportunity (at least in his mind) to drive a car with a siren and some nifty little blue lights ... which he didn't mind using when he needed to get somewhere.

Well ... now we learn that Mr. Oxendine did a few favors for himself in the days before he left office this year. You see, he ran for Governor and the people of Georgia sent him packing in grand fashion. The insurance commissioner, you see, can waive the testing requirements for various insurance sales and adjusting licenses in Georgia. So that's exactly what Oxendine did ... he waived the testing for a sales license and an insurance adjusters license days before he left action ... for himself. Pretty smooth move, don't you think? Here's a few stories you can read if you have the interest.
