Most of you probably handed your kid over to the government to be educated today didn't you? For most of you, this means that your child will sit in a class room where his or her teacher is being paid by the government and represented by a union. Their performance and success at educating your child doesn't matter. What matters is how long that teacher has been there and ... well, that's about it. You could just about do anything in the classroom - except (possibly) drop trou - and so long as you're a good union member you won't be fired. You see, it's not about educating your children for these teachers unions, it's all about power. Yeah, yeah, yeah Boortz .... We're sick of you flapping your gums about this. Well then don't let me say it anymore, why don't we have Bob Chanin, the retiring top lawyer of the National Education Association, tell you in his own words!

"Despite what some among us would like to believe it is not because of our creative ideas. It is not because of the merit of our positions. It is not because we care about children and it is not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power."

So there you have it. Just remember folks, it's all about power.
