You will note that almost every word in the following paragraph is capitalized. Okay, I'm trying to learn how to use this voice recognition software. Somewhere along the line I ordered something that caused the computer to capitalize all these words. You can still read them so I'm not to take the time to remove the capitals. If I could I would start with Washington DC. So let's read on...
I Want to Start You off with a Quote That I Read Somewhere This Morning. It Reads, "the Fundamental Goal of Socialism Is to Satisfy Human Needs... The Needs of All, Equally, without Privilege." If You Simply Replaced the Word "Socialism" with "Government," You Would Get a Pretty Accurate Description of What Most People Believe Nowadays. Government Exists to Satisfy Our Human Needs. You Need Food-Food Stamps. You Need a Job-Unemployment Benefits Will Serve You until You Can Find One. You Need Healthcare-We'll Pass ObamaCare. You Need Assurance of a Sound Retirement-Social Security. You Need Housing-Section 8. Lacking in This Discussion Is Any Sense of Self Reliance or personal responsibility. Instead, when you "need" something - someone to pay to heat your home, for instance - you go the government. In turn, the government goes to the producers and seizes their wealth in order to provide for others "needs." Government is always the solution.
That quote, by the way, came from Hugo Chavez. His latest antics down in Venezuela, is destined to make him the Robert Mugabe of the Western hemisphere. Chavez has sent troops to take over farms and he is instructing the poor to occupy or squat on "unused" land that belongs to the wealthy. This is all part of his campaign to "recover" land in the wake of a housing crisis. Imagine living in a country that had zero regard for property rights. A country, for instance, where the government can seize private property from one person and turn it over to another if the new government approved owner will just promise to do something with that property that will generate more property tax revenue. Even if you had the freedom to do and acquire as you please, it would mean little without property rights. Because at any moment, the government could come along and seize your property - seize your earnings - that you have worked so hard to acquire. Soon there becomes a complete lack of incentive to produce or acquire anything. Without that incentive, what are you good for? What kind of economy does that foster? I think you are beginning to realize why Venezuela is in the economic and social shape that it's in.
