There are a few union stories floating around out there that I want to share with you. The first one, from California, should outrage you. Have you heard about AB 455? If signed into law, this bill would allow unions to appoint half of the members of local bodies including the city and county civil service commissions … the same commissions that resolve disputes regarding wages, hours and other terms of conditions of employment. So unions get representation on both sides of the table. They will be bargaining with themselves, using your tax dollars.
The next story is about union thug tactics that are used in order to coerce workers into unionizing. There’s a quick story from a man named Larry Getts. He testified in front of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce about his experience at a plant that packs and ships auto parts in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He described the behavior of UAW representatives as part of its "card check" organizing drive – intimidated older female workers with foul language, waiting for people at their cars, following them home. Eventually Getts and his coworkers were able to reject the union, but only after pressing for accurate facts from both sides. If the NLRB gets its way in its latest push to rapidly speed up union elections, employees like Getts would not have the time to look at the facts and come to a reasonable decision.
The last story is a short video I want you to watch. It is a government school teacher in Michigan who has decided to quit his job because he does not believe in the message of the National Education Association. He says that the union is more concerned about adults than it is the children. Gee, ya think?
Neal Boortz chronicles his 42 years of talk radio in his book "Maybe I Should Just Shut Up and Go Away" Available on line and printed from Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
