People seem willing to vote for just about anyone besides Barack Obama right now. In the latest Gallup polling, 47% of Americans say that they would vote for the generic Republican candidate compared to 39% who say they would vote for Barack Obama. At this point, those Independent voters that were so critical to Obama’s victory in the last election are swinging toward the GOP by a 10 point margin.
With that being said, Obama has managed to raise a whopping $86 million over the last three months. Some estimates believe that this is more than all of the GOP candidates combined. The average donation to Obama is reported to have been less than $100. Not sure I buy that .. but that’s what we’re being told.
It’s hard to say why the GOP is surging on the generic ballot. I would like to think that Americans are getting weary of the crass class-warfare rhetoric from Obama, but there are also polls which show that his tax-the-rich stuff works --- especially with people who don’t pay income taxes. No surprise there.
Neal Boortz chronicles his 42 years of talk radio in his book "Maybe I Should Just Shut Up and Go Away" Available on line and printed from Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
