Government Outrages

New Rules Would Label Millions of American Workers as Disabled

The Obama administration has delivered a big fat "thank you" to the trial lawyers of America. This comes in the form of new regulations from Obama's Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. This commission has established new guidelines on the definition of "disability" under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The list includes: autism, diabetes, epilepsy and post-traumatic stress disorder. Employers says that the new definition will shift burden of proof claiming that they will now have to show why a worker doesn't require special accommodations, rather than the other way around. The law is to take effect May 24th. Attorney Condon McGlothlen says, "Some people might even say that a majority of Americans are covered as disabled under the law."

Wall Street reform to cost agencies $1 billion in first year

What's another billion dollars? Remember the financial reform bill that passed Congress last year - the Dodd-Frank financial reform law? House Republicans are saying that it is going to cost nearly $1 billion this year alone. Much of this has to do with the need to hire thousands of new workers to oversee and enforce the new law. The .. count them .. 11 government agencies in charge of implementing the bill will need to hire 2,800 full-time employees at an immediate cost of nearly $1 billion. The new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau alone would require up to 1,225 hires. Need a job? Looks like the federal government is hiring!
