Well .. you can hardly ignore this story.  A woman in Atlanta has come forward with a story of a 13-year affair with Herman Cain.  Cain admits that he knows the woman … but denies the affair.

It is curious that this lady, as with the others, came from Cain’s three years at the National Restaurant Association.  His 40-year job history begins with the Defense Department, then through Coca-Cola, Pillsbury, Burger King, Godfather’s Pizza, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and several years with Cox Radio in Atlanta. I just find it rather curious that every single story of sexual misconduct on the part of Herman Cain originated with his tenure at the National Restaurant Association.  Something in the water?

No .. I don’t know what the truth is here.  I know Herman.  I don’t know the woman.  I’ve read that she was successfully sued at one time for libel, but know nothing of the details.

The proper role here is to gauge the effect on Herman Cain’s campaign; and to me the answer seems to be that clearly this doesn’t help.  At this time I have to say that I don’t see any way of Herman pulling out a victory in Iowa.  His approval ratings among women there are low, and will most assuredly go lower before this latest controversy ebbs.

Perhaps Herman Cain’s main emphasis should now be put on saving his relationship with his wife and family.
